The digitalization of business data and the increasing level of net-working is rapidly changing work flows at companies. DATEV Software with a New Standard

In2014,theZUGFeRD(centraluserguidefromtheforumforelectronicinvoices inGermany)standardforelectronic invoiceswas introduced inGermany.ThestandardisforaPDFfilethatincludesanattachmentwithinvoicedata.ZUGFeRDensuresthatpaymentandaccountingsoftwarecanreadandimporttheinformationcontainedwithinsuchanelectronicinvoice.Thissavescompaniestimeandmoneyandsignificantlysimplifiestheprocessesassociatedwithreceivinginvoices.

AsasurveyconductedbytheDeutschlandsicherimNetz(“Germanysafeonline”–DsiN)associationandDATEVonthestateofITsecurityamongsmallbusinessesrevealed,whileSMEsfurtherincreasedtheiruseofIT,thenecessarymeasurestoteachthemabouttheassociatedriskswereneglected.ThesecuritycheckwasdesignedbyDsiNmemberDATEVwithsupportfromfurtherassociationmemberssuchasBITKOM,SAP,andSophos.WiththeDsiNsecuritycheck,SMEscanfindouthowthelevelofinformationsecurityattheircompanyranks–onlineandforfree.

Prepopulated Tax Returns and Authority Database

Theprepopulatedtaxreturnwaslaunchedin2014,whichgavetaxpayerstheabilitytoseetheinformationthetaxauthoritieshadonrecordaboutthem.Byaccessingthisdata,taxconsultantscanthenreviewand,ifnecessary,correctinformationearlyon–namely,whenpreparingtheclient’staxreturns.AndthankstotheauthoritydatabasemadeavailablebyDATEVinorderofthechambers,taxconsultantsalsohavetheabilitytosendtheirauthorizationtoelectronicallyaccessclientdatadirectlytothetaxauthorities.

IT Security in Small and Medium-Sized EnterprisesDsiN and DATEV regularly collect data on the state of IT security and develop reference works for small and medium-sized enter-prises.


Successful Implementation of the E-Balance Sheet

Atthebeginningof2014,manycompaniesneededtoadapttoanewstand-ard: the e-balance sheet. By December 2014, DATEV users preparedapproximately700,000annualfinancialstatementsforfiscalyear2013andtransferredtheminproperformtothetaxauthoritiesviathee-balancesheetassistantandtheDATEVdatacenter.AnditgoeswithoutsayingthatDATEVwillprovideassistancetoitsusersatconsultanciesandcompanieswhenitcomestofulfillingtheincreasingrequirementswithregardtothescopeofthee-balancesheetcomponentsthathavetobetransferredtothetaxauthoritiesforgeneralandregisteredpartnershipsthattakeeffectforfiscalyear2015.

GoBD – New Rules for Digital Bookkeeping

Creating Modern Working Environments

Designingsoftwaresolutionsthataresuccessfuloverthelongterm,operat-ingbuildingsinanenvironmentallyfriendlymanner,andcreatingspaceforcreativeandteam-orientedworkwerethefoundationfortheconstructionof DATEV’s new software development center: IT Campus 111. Theground-breaking ceremonywas heldwith the construction companiesinvolvedinApril2014.ITCampus111,whichcostapproximately100millioneuros,wasofficiallyinauguratedaboutoneyearlateronApril17,2015.

A Joyful OccasionAfter almost two years under construction, DATEV IT Campus 111 has been inaugurated. Ilse Aigner, Bavaria’s deputy minister president and minister of economic affairs, Joa-chim Herrmann, the Bavarian minister of the interior, Dr. Ulrich Maly, mayor of Nuremberg, and Dr. Heinz Sebiger, the founding chairmen of DATEV eG, attended the ceremony along with another 250 invited guests. The new building offers space for 1,800 employees and will bring together the IT service provider DATEV’s various software development departments, which up until now were distributed over different locations, together under one roof.

DATEVhasbeenknownformanyyearsasamajorcompanyofferingvoca-tionaltrainingintheNurembergmetropolitanregion.In2015,DATEVbeganofferingvocationaltrainingprogramsthatcombinedbusinessandtechnicalaspectsintheprofessionsof digitalprintingmediatechnologistandelectronicstechnicianforbuildingsandinfrastructuresystems.

TogetherwithBaden-WürttembergCooperativeStateUniversity,thecooper-ativetrainsstudentsparticipatinginthebusinessinformaticsandappliedinformaticsdegreeprograms.AtDATEV,thestudentsreceivetheirfirstcollegedegreeinthesecoursesthatqualifythemforacareerintheirchosenprofession,whileatthesametimegainingprofessionalexperience.Aneventheldduringthesummerof2014onceagainofferedthoseinterestedinformationaboutthiscombinedITdegreeandvocationaltrainingprogramatDATEV.

DATEV IT Campus 111The new development center at Fürhter Strasse 111 offers a stateoftheart working environment with leisure and conference rooms as well as areas for communication and meetings. While designing the building, ideas from employees as well as sustainability aspects were taken into consideration.

Entering the Work-ing WorldThe Nuremberg-based coop-erative offers various voca-tional training programs and is partnered with colleges, universities, and universities of cooperative education.

Initiative for the Tax Consulting Profession

Asacooperativepartnertotaxconsultants,thenextgenerationofthepro-fessionisanimportantissueforDATEV,inordertoremaininnovativedespitedemographicchanges.Asaresult,since2010thecooperativehascarefullyanalyzedtheeffectsonitsmembers’staffand,forexample,organizescareerorientationeventseachyearforthetaxconsultingprofessions.

Furthermore,onMay15,2014,theITserviceproviderlaunchedtheRockDeine Zukunft (“rock your future”) initiative. On the Web site www.rock-deine-zukunft.deandonYouTube,DATEVprovidesextensiveinformationonthecareerandcareerpathoftaxconsultants.Inthecampaign,thefigureoftheyoungtaxconsultantTimillustratesthemanyaspectsoftheprofessionincontactwithvariousindustriesand,indoingso,showsthattaxconsultantshaveexcellentprospectsforthefutureandarealsoanimportantadviserandpartnertosmallandmedium-sizedenterprises.MemberscanembedthevideointotheirconsultancyWebsiteaspartoftheirrecruitingactivities.

DATEV Consultancy Marketplace Helps in Search for a Successor

TheDATEVConsultancyMarketplacewasextremelypopularin2014.SincethelaunchofthevirtualmarketplaceinMarch2013,theonlineplatformhasbroughttogetherpotentialsellersandbuyersoftaxconsultancies,lawoffices,andauditingfirms.Thecooperative’smarketplacedoesnotrequireaDATEVmembershipandcanbeaccessedbyallvisitors

Collaboration with Juraforum

Sincethesummerof2014,DATEVhassuppliedcontentforthelegalportalJuraforum.TheITserviceproviderhasitsownsectionwhereitcontributesvaluable information about consultancy organization and consultancymarketing.Inaddition,usershaveaccesstoasectioninwhichnotableauthorsregularlypublisharticlesaboutcurrentlegalissues.


Rock Deine ZukunftThis DATEV initiative is geared specifically toward young people and provides valuable information about the everyday working life of a tax consultant.


TheportalisoneofthelargestGermanWebsitesdedicatedtolegaltopics.Asaforumandnewssiteforattorneysandothermembersofthelegalprofession,Juraforumofferscurrentnewsandhow-toguides,anextensivedatabaseofcourtdecisionsandlaws,andalegalencyclopediawithkeyterms.Everyday,countlessdiscussionstakeplaceinover100legalforums.

SINFOPAC becomes Independent

OnNovember28,2014,theLatinAmericansalesrepresentativeofDATEVSINFOPACS.L.U.,GilGarces,acquiredallofthesharesofDATEVSINFOPACand,assuch,assumedresponsibilityforthecompanyandthesaleofsoftwareproductsforauditorsinSpain,Portugal,andLatinAmerica.Thecompanywillcontinuetoprovideexistingclientswiththehigh-qualitysupporttheyarefamiliarwithandwithincreasinglylocalizedsolutions.Thecooperativewillcontinuetoberesponsibleforthefurtherdevelopmentandmaintenanceofapplicationsforauditinganddataanalysis.

DATEV uses the Services of Bundesdruckerei

SinceSeptember2014,DATEVhasworkedwithBundesdruckereiGmbHinBerlinwhenitcomestoservicesrelatedtoqualifiedelectronicsignatures.Inthiscontext,D-Trust,asubsidiaryofBundesdruckerei,isresponsibleforprint-ingthecardsandthedirectoryserviceinquiriesforthecertificationserviceproviderDATEV.Thesecardsareused,forexample,whenattorneysopencourtcollectionproceedingsviathecourtandgovernmentin-boxaspartofGermany’sonlinecollectionprocess.

Strong Educational Partnerships

Thecooperativehasalreadyofferedaspecialrangeofreferencebooksandpracticalhow-toguidesinbothbrick-and-mortarbookstoresaswellasonlineshopssince2013.ThesaleofandaccesstoDATEV’stradeliteraturehasrecentlybeenexpandedthankstonewpartnerships.Thesepartnershipspromotethetrainingofyoungprofessionalsfortaxconsultanciesandaudit-ingfirms.

Forexample,11ofthe26nationwidelocationsofSchweitzerFachinforma-tionenhavebeenDATEVpartnerbookstores since theendof2014. Inaddition,GBI-Genios,asupplierofelectronicbusinessinformation,workedwithDATEVtocreateelectronicaccesstoDATEV’stradeliterature.Usingtheuniversitydatabasewiso,studentshavebeenabletoaccessthisliteratureforresearchpurposesintheformofe-bookssinceJanuary2015.

The DATEV Christmas Donation Turns 25

Forthe25thyearinarow,thecooperativehasdonatedtocharitythefundsthatwouldotherwisebeusedforChristmaspresents.Duringthistime,thecooperativehasprovidedmorethan4.3millioneurosto164projectscarriedoutbycharitableorganizations,withmostoftheprojectssuggestedbymem-bersofthecooperative.In2014,theChristmasdonationsentatotalof134,100eurosto13organizationsinsevenGermanstates.

Champini Day-Care Center in HöfenThe day-care center initi - ated by DATEV offers over 48 spots for toddlers and 34 spots for preschool-age children. The center is operated by CHAMPINI Sport- & Bewegungskita Nürnberg Höfen.

Comparedtothepreviousyear,electricityconsumptionin2014increasedby1.1%toatotalof39,949MWh.Thismoderateincreasewastheresultofopposingeffects.Ontheonehand,theincreasedutilizationofthedatacenterlocationsincreasedelectricityconsumption.Ontheotherhand,savingswereachievedatotherlocationsthroughstandardmeasurestoincreaseenergyefficiency.Inaddition,consumptionbythebranchofficeswasslightlylower.TheaveragePUErating(powerusageeffectiveness)stoodat1.41attheendof2014.

Generated Waste

Thecooperativegenerated2,114tonsofwastein2014,orapproximately90 tonsmore than in the previous year. This increasewas due to theconstructionofthenewIT Campus 111aswellasanumberofspecialwaste-removalmeasures.
