Summer is here, and we are pleased to welcome you to our various indoor and outdoor facilities available throughout the summer months! Our magnificent maintenance team is busy ensuring the outdoor facilities are ready for your next event . We invite you to celebrate and play at the many outdoor parks and playgrounds, or get active and competitive at thevolleyball and tennis courts, and the soccer and baseball fields .

If the heat becomes too much, or rain is getting you down, drop in to our air-conditioned facilities here at the AYR Motor Centre, or refresh at the aquatic facility . Feeling hungry?Stop by our 2nd Home Café and Grill!

In this quarterly summer activity guide, we have aimed to provide the community with all of our information about our facilities, rates, events and programs .

AQUATIC FACILITY HOURS: Monday – Friday 6 am - 10 pm Saturday – Sunday 8 am - 10 pm

CLOSED STATUTORY HOLIDAYS

AQUATIC FACILITY RULES• Any child 5 years and under must be accompanied

by an adult within arms’ reach at all times .

• Any persons with intellectual or physical needs of any age, who is unable to swim alone/requires a floatation device, must be accompanied by a par-ent or support worker in the water at all times .

• Any child wearing a floatation device including, but not limited to; lifejackets and Puddle Jumpers must also be accompanied by an adult and the adult must remain within arms reach at all times .

• No scuba goggles (covering nose).

• Diving in the deep end only. (Including any entries that are not feet first) .

• No running on the deck, as it is very slippery and dangerous .

• Hands off others at all times, with the exception to parents/guardians of young children .

• Please face the water when making an entry.

• When jumping off the diving boards, rope or slide, jump straight off and swim to the closest side of the pool to prevent collisions with other swimmers .

• If you are trying the diving boards or slide and decide that it is not for you, please face the ladder while descending . The steps are very slippery and steep . They are not meant to be climbed as stairs .

• One person at a time on the diving boards and slide . Please wait at the bottom until the person ahead of you has entered the water .

• Please do not jump onto toys from the side of the pool or stand on them in the water .

REGISTRATION FOR SWIM LESSON PROGRAMS

Information on RegisteringSwim lessons are offered in the Winter, Spring and Fall for a 10-week session. Registra-tion and payment is done two weeks prior to each session in person at the AYR Motor Centre Reception Desk . Registration is a first-come, first-served basis . It is only possi-ble to be registered for one session at a time . If your child is currently registered in the program, they cannot register again until after their last class . In the event that classes are completely full, your name will be added to a waiting list . Additional classes may be added based on demand .

Summer swim lessons are offered as a 2 week program,Monday to Friday . This year’s dates run from July 10-21 and August 14-25 .

When registering children in any aquatics program, make sure you bring their progress card with you . If your child does not have a progress card or is not currently enrolled in lessons, you may set up a time during which your child can be evaluated . Please call us at 325-4671 .

It is important for your child’s progress through the aquatics program that they are in the appropriate level; where they can gain the skills and knowledge to fully enjoy their aquatic surroundings . Also, parents are encouraged to give their children time to practice skills in one level before registering for the next level . Therefore, every second lesson set is the recommended progress through the program .

Refund & Credit Requests for Swim Lesson ProgramRequests for refunds and credits must be done at AYR Motor Centre Reception . Proof of purchase must accompany the form to be approved . Full credits/refunds will be given if withdrawal is made prior to the start of classes . Exceptions are outlined below .

Any requests for refunds or credits after the second week of lessons are only con-sidered for medical reasons and must be accompanied by a written excuse from a Doctor. If granted, the credit/refund is prorated to the amount used.

Should the AYR Motor Centre AquaticFacility cancel a class due to low enroll-ment, a refund or credit will be given in full .

FeesFees are payable at the time of registrtion . We accept cash, debit, cheques, Visa, orMasterCard . All fees must be paid on the date of registration to complete enrollment .No spots will be saved without full payment.

Cancellation PolicyThe AYR Motor Centre Aquatic Facilityreserves the right to cancel classes with-out notice should sufficient cause arise . Every attempt will be made to make up classes where possible, but cannot guaran-tee to do so . If a class is cancelled due to weather, the missed class will be added at the end of the 10 weeks . If your child does not attend a class, this will not be made up, it is marked as absent .

Walking TrackThe McCain Walking Track is an air conditioned,rubberized surface for walking and running . The track is located at the top of the stairs on the second level and overlooks the Field House .

Indoor Track EttiquetteTo help create a fun and safe environment for all patrons utilizing the indoor track, we ask that you please comply with the following: • Both walking and running are permitted on the indoor track.

• The INSIDE LANE is designated for walkers . the OUTSIDE LANE is designated for runners . (Runners are to run in the opposite direction as walkers .)

• Only INDOOR FOOTWEAR is permitted to be worn on the indoor track .

• Spiked footwear is not permitted.

• Be attentive to walkers and runners as you enter the track to avoid collisions.

• Clockwise or counter-clockwise direction instructions MUST be followed during your walk or run . The direction is indicated at the track entrance .

• Only two people are permitted to walk side-by-side. Please move to single file to allow other participants to pass when necessary .

• Keep moving while you are on the track. No unnecessary stops. If you need to adjust your clothing or footwear, please do so in the corners, off the designated track lanes.

• Warming up and stretching MUST take place OFF the track .

• Personal belongings (sports bags, coats, etc.) are not allowed on the track . Lockers are provided in the lower level chang-ing room . Locks can be acquired at the front lobby reception area . We are not responsible for lost or stolen items .

• Children younger than 12 MUST be supervised by an adult

• Food is prohibited.

• The track may be closed for special events.

• In case of emergency, please call reception at 325-4302.

• The AyR Motor Centre reserves the right to cancel any facil-ity rental due to unforeseen circumstances without advance notice .

• users will be responsible for any damages arising from mis-use of facilities and equipment, including nets and standards . During private rentals, customers are responsible for the actions/supervision of anyone in the court and/or equipment damage .

• Children 9 to 11 years of age ARe permitted to play in the Field House during designated times (i .e . walk-ins) while the parent/guardian walks on the track (this ONLy applies to the track, this DOeS NOT include the Pool, Fitness Centre or Arena) . The supervision is the responsibility of the parent or guardian from the track . Misconduct by the child can lead to having this privilege revoked .

• youth in Grade 6 or older can participate in walk-in activities without the supervision of a parent or guardian .

• users and all spectators must bring indoor footwear – no out-door footwear to be worn in any court . No exception .

• Sign in is required at reception, for all children under the age of 12 and their designated guardian . (Guardians MUST BE 18 years of age or older .) All drop-in visitors must receive a wrist bracelet from Reception .

• The AyR Motor Centre is NOT ReSPONSIBLe for lost or stolen goods . (Complimentary locks are available at Reception for you to use during your visit .

Participants will get personalized support and individual feedback from the instructor . There will be an end of program trip to Fredericton to play with and against kids in the Fredericton tennis program .

SWIM TEAMTuesdays & Thursdays, June 27 - August 19 | 3:45-4:45 pm | Ages 6-19 – $100 This program is designed for youth who have the ability to swim in the deep end and at least 25 m (1 length of the pool) . Participants will learn and practice stroke technique of all 4 strokes and will have the opportunity to participate in swim meets on Saturdays throughout the summer (not mandatory) .

INTRODUCTION TO RIDING AND HORSE CAREMondays, July 17 - August 14 | 12:30-5 pm | Ages 5-14 . Must be 9 or older to be transported via the community van . A DAY ON THE WATER – June 29th | Ages 11-14 – $55We will be driving in a van up the river valley to Florenceville-Bristol area where we will hike the Shiktehawk Stream Trail in the morning . For lunch, we will head to the Doghut Canteen where kids will have the option of purchasing lunch for $10, or they can bring their own lunch to eat along the riverside . After lunch, we put in our canoes/kayaks across from the canteen, and paddle to Hartland . We will return to the AYR Motor Centre for 5 pm .

CANADA 150 CAMPING CELEBRATION – July 6 - 7 | Ages 9-13 – $180Pack your bags for a fun-filled trip to Hartt Island Campground . Upon arrival, we will venture out on a voyageur canoe (14-person canoe) trip with Second Nature Outdoors. Afterwards, we will set up our site, and enjoy an afternoon of waterslides and mini golf . A camping trip is not complete without a campire and s’mores! Be ready for more fun on Friday! We will return by 5 pm .

EXPLORING THE WILDERNESS – July 13 | Ages 9-11 – $40For the wilderness lover in all of us! The morning will be spent practicing archery skills at the Woodstock Archery Club . Then we will head to Red Bridge to the Meduxnekeag Trails where we will have a guided trek through the orange and yellow trails . If there is any time left in our adventure-filled day, we will go geocaching around the Woodstock area .

THE ULTIMATE SURVIVOR – July 14 | Ages 12-15 – $55In the morning we will travel to Megiddo Paintball, located between Florenceville-Bristol and Perth . While there we will play attack the tank, defend the fort, and cops and robbers in the Village of Alderville . We will return to Woodstock at lunch time, and spend the afternoon on the trail behind Dairy Queen where kids will learn survival skills like fire-starting and shelter building .

WET AND WILD – July 27 | Ages 11-14 – $55A day for those who love to be in and on the water! The morning will be spent explor-ing local outdoor pools, parks, and trails . At lunch, we will head to the Doghut Canteen, where kids can purchase their lunch for $10, or they can bring a lunch . After lunch beside the river, we will travel upriver, put in the tubes and float/paddle back to the Doghut Canteen . If time permits, we will end our day at Connell Park .

WOODSTOCK YOUTH ANGLERS CLUB – August 3 | Ages 11-16 – $45An opportunity for kids to gain fishing knowledge, and better their skills . Open to all expe-rience levels . The day will begin with learning the proper casting technique . Once the basic skills have been mastered, youth will fish at local spots on the Meduxnekeag River . After lunch, we will venture out onto the water for the afternoon to explore local hot spots for different types of local fish .

JUST HANGING AROUND – August 10 | Ages 12-16 – $75Grab your gear and be ready to hang in the trees! In the morning, we will travel to Tree-GO Mactaquac where will be hanging and zipping through the trees from 10 am to lunch time . We will have lunch at TreeGO, then venture to Mactaquac beach where we will swim and play for the afternoon! Once everyone is tired out, we will head back to the AYR Motor Centre for 5 pm .

CHASING WATERFALLS – August 17 | Ages 9-15 – $35Ever wondered how many waterfalls are in and around the Woodstock area? This is the perfect opportunity to find out! We will spend the day finding as many waterfalls as we can from 8:30 am - 5 pm . This will involve hiking and exploring through the trails and woods in the upper river valley region .

SCIENCE AND NATURE EXPLORATION – August 24 | Ages 9-12 – $55For all the science and nature lovers out there! We will travel to Science East in Fredericton where their leaders will give us a science-filled demonstration, followed by some exploring of the centre . For lunch we walk across the river to Carleton Park . Immediately after, we will continue to Ducks Unlimited Conservation Centre to learn about identifying animal tracks and scat .

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ARTIST – August 31 | Ages 9-15 – $65At 8:30 we will head to the Beaverbrook Art Gallery where we will have a guided tour, followed by an interactive art activity . We will have lunch on the green in downtown Fredericton, and in the afternoon, we will go to Clay Café to create your ownmasterpiece!

SUMMER 2017 DAY CAMPSEXPLORING THE ARTS DAY CAMP – July 25-28 | Ages 10-14$30/day or $100 all 4 daysFor youth with an artistic eye and an interest in photography, arts, and culture . The camp will explore New Brunswick culture through the arts. The group will take photographs while exploring the trails and preserves around Woodstock . Throughout the week campers will learn new crafts and skills, and visit local art hot spots .

KIDS WHO CARE DAY CAMP – August 14-17 | Ages 10-15$20/day or $60 for all 4 daysFor youth interested in becoming more involved in their community . The camp will explore local opportunities for volunteerism and community involvement . Gives youth the opportunity to learn how important volunteers are to the community, and helps them get acquainted with local volunteer organizations . There are only 5 spots available!

Kick off your Canada 150Celebrations early at this event sponsored by Manulife Securities . The swim/bike/run race is centred on creating a healthy lifestyle for kids . Items to bring: bike, helmet, water bottle, towel, and appropriate attire for the race . All racers will receive a t-shirt, and after the race there will be lunch and other fun games and activities .

WOODSTOCK IN-MOTION GAMES – July 10, 8:30 am - 4 pm | Ages 5-7 – $30Drop off 8-8:30 am, games begin at 8:30 am and end at 4 pm. An opportunity for the younger kids to participate in the in-motion Games, just like the big kids! This will include multi-sport activities, swimming, and fun games outside and inside (inside if it rains) . Every participant will receive a t-shirt . Lunch and snacks will be provided . Don’t forget to bring a bathing suit and towel, and indoor and outdoor apparel, including indoor shoes .

YOUTH STREET HOCKEY JAMBOREE – July 12, 8:30 am - 4 pm | Ages 7-14 – $30Registration begins 8 - 8:30 am . Games start at 9:00 am in the parking lot of the AYR Motor Centre . Age divisions: 7-9, 10-12, 13-14 . All players should bring full-faced hockey helmets,hockey gloves, and their own sticks . They will also need a bathing suit and towel, as we will be swimming in the afternoon . This 3-on-3 event is a chance for youth to be active and experience the joy of competing in an event . WESTERN VALLEY IN-MOTION GAMES – July 20-21 | Ages 8-13 – $30We are excited to be hosting the 35th Annual Western Valley in motion Games in Woodstock this year! This two-day, overnight, multi-sport event includes youth from around the Western Valley . We are looking for youth to represent the Town of Woodstock at the games! There will be 9 different sports going on in these two days, including floor hockey, basketball, archery, amazing race, and any more . Register today!

JOE MCGUIRE ROAD RACE– July 29 | All Ages – Prices vary $5-$40Kick off Woodstock’s Old Home Week Celebration at the race on July 29th! The event has a great atmosphere and is open to runners of all levels and ages . Race distances include 10 km run, 5 km run, and 5 km walk . Race route is flat and fast along the beautiful St . John River . Race kit pick-up 7-8 am, with race start at 8:30 am . Pick-up and start are at the Fire Station / Town Hall at 824 Main Street. No same-day registration!

WASHER TOSS TOURNAMENT– August 12 | All Ages – Early Bird Pricing!Arrival and practice at 9:00 am . Tournament starts at 10 am at the fenced-in mini soccer field on Connell Park Road . There is a competitive and a recreational division . A barbecue lunch will be provided, and there will be a cash bar available for those 19 or older . LITTLE MUDDER – September 9, 1:00 pm | Ages 2-10 – $25A little dirt never hurt! Have a kid who loves to play in the mud? This event is for them! A mud obstacle course for the young ones . This is a run race that is not timed and will be completed in three heats (ages 2-4, 5-7, 8-10) . Refreshments will be provided after the race . THE WOODSTOCK SPORTS WALL OF FAMEThe AYR Motor Centre is home of the Town of Woodstock’s Sports Wall of Fame . The wall is on display in the Asbell Viewing Area .

The Wall of Fame was made in commemoration of the Town of Woodstock’s sportingheritage by recognizing outstanding achievement in the field . The wall recognizes andhonours achievements of individuals or teams who bring special distinction to Woodstock in any field of sport and those who make a major contribution to the development and advancement of sport .

There are there classes of inductees, including athletes, builders and teams .
