REQUIREMENTS FOR WORK PERFORMED ON HSU PROPERTIES” AND IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE FOLLOWING CALIFORNIA BUILDING CODE
SECTION 105.1.: “IN LIEU OF AN INDIVIDUAL PERMIT FOR EACH ALTERATION OR
REPAIR TO AN EXISTING ELECTRICAL, GAS, MECHANICAL, OR PLUMBING
INSTALLATION, THE CAMPUS DEPUTY BUILDING OFFICIAL (CDBO) IS
AUTHORIZED TO ISSUE AN ANNUAL PERMIT UPON APPLICATION THEREFOR TO
ANY PERSON, FIRM, DEPARTMENT, DIVISION, OR COMPANY REGULARLY
EMPLOYING ONE OR MORE QUALIFIED TRADESPERSONS IN THE

FOR PERMIT.”
THE INTENT OF THE ANNUAL PERMIT IS TO COVER SCOPES OF WORK THAT
WOULD BE WITHIN THE PURVIEW OF CALIFORNIA BUILDING CODE
SECTION 105.1 AND THE FACILITIES MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT
REGULATION “PERMITTING REQUIREMENTS FOR WORK PERFORMED ON HSU
PROPERTIES” . THIS WORK WOULD BE ABOVE AND BEYOND THAT WHICH IS
SPECIFICALLY IDENTIFIED UNDER CALIFORNIA BUILDING CODE
SECTION 105.2 “WORK EXEMPT FROM PERMIT” AND WORK THAT WOULD NOT
QUALIFY AS WORK IDENTIFIED AS A “PROJECT” AS PUBLISHED IN FACILITIES
MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT REGULATION “FACILITY PROJECT
DEFINITIONS, CATEGORIES, AND TYPES”. WORK BEING EXECUTED WITHIN A
COMMON AREA OR IN RELATION TO ONE ANOTHER FOR A COMMON PURPOSE
SHALL BE CONSIDERED TOGETHER WHEN EVALUATING IF THE PROJECT
DEFINITION APPLIES.
WORK TO BE INCLUDED WITH THIS ANNUAL PERMIT IS SPECIFICALLY
IDENTIFIED BELOW. ANY QUESTION OR ALTERNATE INTERPRETATION OF

MAY AFFECT ACCESSIBILITY AND/OR AS REGULATED BY CBC CHAPTER 11A/B,
THE CDBO AND THE HSU CASP MUST BE CONSULTED PRIOR TO
COMMENCEMENT OF WORK.
