About EZONE Student Hub

The University of Western Australia has built a new home to transform the way we learn and teach, undertake research and engage with the community.

EZONE provides an unparalleled student experience, building an innovative and collaborative culture based on a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) capability like no other in the country.

EZONE is a massive investment, both financial and intellectual, in WA’s knowledge economy that will deliver outstanding graduates and innovative solutions.


Learning StudiosSeats 50-60, 110-145sqm

EZONE is home to 14 Learning Studios which are flexible and dynamic spaces. Each studio can host 50-66 guests or you can open up adjacent studios to fit a maximum of 150 guests for events such as seminars and workshops. The venues can be booked as individual studios or the operable walls separating the spaces can be opened to create a larger setting. Tables and chairs within the spaces can be arranged to suit your event with a capacity for up to 150 guests.

2 x USB inputs and one (BYO cable) HDMI Input• Maximum of 3 combined studios, accommodating 150

a tracking camera.

Meeting PodSeats 4-6, 12-13 sqm

Allocated for current UWA student use, these Meeting Pods are spaces where group projects and collaborative study can be undertaken in a more private setting with presentation and video conferencing capabilities. The glass surrounding each pod can be used as a whiteboard for group planning and brainstorming sessions.

Industry Hub Seats 30

Located in EZONE North, our Industry Hub provides the ideal setting for meetings such as Industry and Student collaboration sessions. This space is open and versatile with flexible furniture and a kitchenette. Presentation and AV facilities are available, with 12 desktop stations for your BYO devices.

EZONE Social150-200 standing event, 300 sqm

EZONE Social is a 300sqm large open space which offers an alternative area to meet, study and socialise. The furniture configuration is unfixed, making the space flexible and ideal for informal indoor gatherings such as markets, fairs and launches that do not require presentation audiovisual equipment.

Video Conferencing RoomsSeats 12, 23 sqm

Located on level 1 and 2 of EZONE North, these student spaces are available as meeting spaces equipped with video conferencing facilities. Each conference room has an inbuilt tracking camera, sound bar and built in AV control panel.

Collaborative Work AreasThe open work spaces in EZONE are designed for group work and collaboration. With plenty of power and charge points and access to the fastest Wi-Fi on campus, EZONE is quickly becoming a popular area of campus for student study. Open work areas are located on Level 1 and 2 of both EZONE North and EZONE Central. There are 750 seats in these areas totalling approximately 1,000sqm of study space.

These areas are for student use on a first-come, first-served basis and are not available for exclusive bookings.

Outdoor WorkspacesIn addition to the number of internal spaces in EZONE, there are also a number of outdoor spaces that students can utilise. Sheltered by a ceiling of photovoltaic glass, the outdoor areas give a sense of connection to the greenery of the UWA campus, while protecting users from the elements.

There are several spaces for use:• The BHP Steps to Learning (100 seat outdoor stair

case) • Woodside River Walk. The pedestrian walk also

branches out to include several outdoor desks and free BBQ facilities.

• The EZONE Central East and West Terraces (capacity of 30 each)

• EZONE Central Level 3 outdoor meeting space (pictured)

These areas are for student use on a first-come, first-served basis and are not available for exclusive bookings.

Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Eastwood Sky GardenThe HDR space has been purpose-built to encourage collaboration in both formal and informal settings. The third level of EZONE Central is dedicated to enhancing the collective capability of the cross-disciplinary research groups (clusters) and aid in their ability to address strategic research challenges.

The EZONE Student Hub comprises two buildings, EZONE North and EZONE Central, and is located at the Perth campus. It is easily accessible by car as well as public transport.

AccessOur Learning Studios are programmed to open at the commencement of your booking. Some of our other spaces require Campus Card swipe access so therefore we always advise to have a UWA Chaperone if you are an external hirer.

Guest Wi-FiIf you are a UWA Staff or Student you are able to log into EZONE Wi-Fi via UniFi with your Pheme information.

External guests are required to be registered ahead of your booking. Please let [email protected] know if you require UniFi Guest registration.

CateringOn-site catering is available by University Function Caterers who can assist with all aspects of catering, staffing and catering equipment supplies. You can also arrange external caterers to attend the space.

Service of AlcoholPlease visit Serving Alcohol on Campus for more information.

Administrative/Event SupportEZONE is not a full-service venue. There is no on-the-day event/administrative support from the EZONE Team. Furniture and equipment may only be moved within a room provided it can be moved safely and is returned to the same position as before the event.

UWA Guild student club eventsIf you are a Guild-affiliated student club, your event should include an EMP. For more information on this please contact Guild Events via [email protected].

FeesEZONE is a student hub and as such, the venue prioritises events students can participate in for free to enhance learnings outside of standard curriculum.

The hiring of EZONE spaces will be charged at rates that are consistent with UWA teaching facilities across campus.

Please refer to Booking Central Teaching Facilities for further information on rates.

If you are an affiliate of UWA, please note the requirements to secure affiliate rates for booking EZONE.

You will need to provide:• an MOU or formal agreement between the Affiliate and

UWA

• a letter or email of support from a Dean, Director, Chief Officer or equivalent
