George H. Babcock and Stephen Wilcox invented an improved water tube steamboiler, which

provided a safer and more efficient production of steam.

InInInInInvvvvventor Bioentor Bioentor Bioentor Bioentor Bio

Born in Unadilla Forks, New York, Babcock was part of a family of inventors and mechanics. In

1860, after moving to Brooklyn, he attended evening classes at Cooper Institute. During the

American Civil War, he worked for the Mystic (Connecticut) Iron Works building ships for the

U.S. government. He became the chief draftsman at the Hope Iron Works in Providence, R.I.,

where he joined Stephen Wilcox in improving boiler designs. The two men received their patent

in 1867 and formed a partnership that same year. In 1881, the company was incorporated with

Babcock as president and Wilcox as vice president. Since then, Babcock & Wilcox has be-

come a world leader in the power generation industry and is a major operating unit of McDermott

International, a worldwide energy services company.

CRYOGENIC ENGINE

A cryogenic rocket engine is a rocket engine that uses a cryogenic fuel or oxidizer, that

is, its fuel or oxidizer (or both) stored at very low temperatures.Notably, these engines were one

of the main factors of NASA’s ultimate success in reaching the Moon by the Saturn V rocket.

STORAGE PROPELLANTS :

In convential rocket engines propellants had been stored as pressurized gases, the size

and mass of fuel tanks themselves would severely decrease rocket efficiency. Therefore, to get

the required mass flow rate, the only option was to cool the propellants down to cryogenic

temperatures (below -150 °C, -238 °F), converting them to liquid form. Hence, all cryogenic

rocket engines are also, by definition, either liquid-propellant rocket engines or hybrid rocket

engine. Various cryogenic fuel-oxidizer combinations have been tried, but the combination of

liquid hydrogen (LH2) fuel and the liquid oxygen (LOX) oxidizer is one of the most widely used.

COMPONENTS OF ENGINE:

The major components of a cryogenic rocket engine are the combustion chamber (thrust

chamber), pyrotechnic initiator, fuel injector, fuel cryopumps, oxidizer cryopumps, gas turbine,

cryo valves, regulators, the fuel tanks, and rocket engine nozzle. In terms of feeding propellants

to the combustion chamber, cryogenic rocket engines (or, generally, all liquid-propellant

engines) are either pressure-fed or pump-fed, and pump-fed engines work in either a gas-

generator cycle, a staged-combustion cycle, or an expander cycle. The cryopumps are always

turbopumps powered by a flow of fuel through gas turbines. Looking at this aspect, engines can

be differentiated into a main flow or a bypass flow configuration. In the main flow design, all the

pumped fuel is fed through the gas turbines, and in the end injected to the combustion chamber.

In the bypass configuration, the fuel flow is split; the main part goes directly to the combustion

chamber to generate thrust, while only a small amount of the fuel goes to the turbine. These

engines are mainly produces 73.4kilonats pressure to run rocket with efficiency.

3D PRINTING

Additive manufacturing or 3D printing is a process of making a three-dimen

sional solid object of virtually any shape from a digital model. 3D printing is achieved

using an additive process, where successive layers of material are laid down in

different shapes.3D printing is also considered distinct from traditional machining

techniques, which mostly rely on the removal of material by methods such as cut-

ting or drilling.

A 3D printer is a limited type of industrial robot hat is capable of carrying out an

additive process under computer control. The first working 3D printer was created

in 1984 by Chuck Hull of 3D Systems Corp.

The 3D printing technology is used for both prototyping and distributed manu-

facturing with applications in architecture, construction (AEC), industrial design,

automotive, aerospace, military engineering, civil engineering, dental and medical

industries, biotech (human tissue replacement), fashion, footwear, jewelry, eyewear,

education, geographic information systems, food, and many other fields.

ROBOTIC SURGERYA WEAPON FOR A SURGEON

INTRODUCTION & FEATURES

With already 210 devices in use throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan, INTUITIVE Surgical is the

leading company. DAVINCI was approved in July 2000 to perform advanced surgical techniques such as cutting

suturing. This system is the first operative surgical one and it receives more and more FDA approvals. This system has

had to overcome many obstacles in order to dominate the digital surgery field, Precision dexterity, while requiring 1-2

cm incisions. High magnification 3D Image of body interior and an ergonomically designed surgeons console, patient

cart with four robotic arms, a high-performance vision System and patented Endo Wrist instruments

PARTS AND WORKING OF DA VINCI ROBOT

The DA VINCI robotic surgery is carried out with the help of the da Vinci Surgical System. This surgical

system is comprised of three major components: the console (through which the surgeon performs the operation), side

robotic cart (placed by the side of the patient) that has 4 robotic arms that can be manipulated by the surgeon from the

console, and a high-definition 3D vision system.

Three of the robotic arms are mounted with the surgical instruments which are controlled by the operating

doctor through the console. The fourth robotic arm is used to control the camera. While the robotic arms move

according to the movements of the surgeon’s hands, the camera provides a high definition video of the procedure being

carried out. The operating surgeon has the benefit of viewing a three-dimensional, magnified, video image and can

rotate his hands more freely than with the conventional technique. Different kinds of instruments can be attached to the

robotic arms according to the procedure to be performed. Additionally the robotic arms are capable of performing a full

circular movement which is generally not possible by non-robotic arms.

HOW DO YOU BENEFIT ?

Because the incisions are small in minimally invasive surgery . The scars are small. There is no classic

“zipper” scar that typically marks the body after traditional “open” surgery. Shorter hospital stay. Less pain. Less risk

of infection. Quicker to normal activities.

SAFER MECHANISMS

To start the procedure, the surgeon’s head must be placed in the viewer. Otherwise, the system will lock and

remain motion less. During the procedure a zero-point movement system prevents the robotic arms from pivoting

above or at the one-inch entry incision, which could otherwise unintentionally torn.

DAVINCI’S SYSTEM CAN PERFORM

8 Mitral valve repair surgery, General laparoscopic surgery, Coronary Artery Bypass, Lung surgery,

Laparoscopic radical prostatectomy Used in Orthopedics, Neurology, Urology, Cardiology, Gynecology Etc.,

CONCLUSION

DA VINCI surgical system is the advanced technology to the present era. The theme of this PPT is to empower

knowledge about DAVINCI’S Surgical system and to initiate and encourage the new thoughts and ideas about robotics

in upcoming technologies..

GREATEST MECHANICAL INVENTIONS OF ALL TIME

BOXTER ENGINE: allows cylinders to operate in “opposed”configuration,

making engine much lower profile. Subject to torque vagaries, as anyone who’s

ever ridded a nineteen-sixties vintage BMW Motorcycle can attest.

NAVAL GUN LOADING SYSTEM - allows rapid fire with minimal risk of

explosion, and mechanizes much of the process. The pinnacle of Naval

“Projectile” warfare.

MALTA CROSS MOVEMENT - this is what finally made reasonably

accurate mechanical clocks a reality.

SEWING MACHINE - The mechanisms that keep it all working properly,

under proper tension, are incredibly complex.

RADIAL AIRCRAFT ENGINE - The pinnacle of piston-driven aircraft

propulsion.

MULTI-SPEED AUTOMOTIVE TRANSMISSION: Made the “horseless

carriage” revolutionize the world.

ROTARY ENGINE - can rev faster and higher than a piston

engine, and with fewer moving parts SHOULD be more durable.

CONSTANT-VELOCITY (“C-V”) JOINT - made front-wheel-drive cars

possible and revolutionized the automotive industry.
