Joint Application Development
Goal Harmonized criteria implementation
across FAA and Department of Defense.
Shared applications and costs for application development and maintenance.
Sharing of data, through on-demand data access services.
Aeronautical Data
Service Oriented Architecture
Enable partnerships with remote data sources
Promote loose coupling / code mobility
Result in reusable assets
Support multiple client types
Reduce maintenance cost
Services map to distinct business domains
Aeronautical Data
Service providers and consumers must have a shared understanding of the meaning of the messages they exchange.
Path to Success
Aeronautical Information Exchange Model (AIXM)
The Federal Aviation Administration is working with ICAO and its partners in NGA and Eurocontrol to adopt and refine a conceptual and exchange model for aeronautical data: AICM and AIXM.
The role of AIXM is to enable systems to exchange aeronautical information in the form of XML encoded data.
Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)
Service Oriented Architecture
Service providers and consumers must have a shared understanding of the meaning of the messages they exchange.
Path to Success
Building reusable, composable Services enables an SOA to change to meet unpredictable requirements both inside and outside the company.
Dynamic Service discovery is essential to maintaining the location independence of Services, critical to an SOA.
