Scope This standard specifies the types, applications, graduations and installation locations of thermometers in ships’ machinery space. 2. Reference standards The following standards form part of the requirements of this standard when quoted. The latest editions of these standards shall be applied. Classification of thermometers Thermometers shall be classified into the local indicating type and the remote indicating type. a) Local indicating type The local indicating thermometers shall be as follows. 1) Shipbuilding – Fixed thermometers in machinery space specified in JIS F7235. 2) The combination of the thermometer pocket specified in JIS F 7210 and the thermometer specified in JIS B 7411. Remark: Only thermometer pockets may be equipped at temperature measuring positions. 3) Bimetal type thermometer Remark: The dimensions of mounting threads shall be as shown in Fig. 1 and the shape shall, as a rule, be as shown in Fig 1. b) Remote indicating type The remote indicating type thermometers shall be as follows. 1) Electric type thermometers - Specified in JIS C 1601. - Specified in JIS C 1603. 2) Bourdon tube type thermometers - Specified in JIS B 7528. - Specified in JIS B 7529. 4. Scale readings The scale readings of thermometers shall be as given in Tables 1 to 7.

    3. Classification of thermometers Thermometers shall be classified into the local indicating type and the remote indicating type.

    a) Local indicating type The local indicating thermometers shall be as follows. 1) Shipbuilding Fixed thermometers in machinery space specified in JIS F7235. 2) The combination of the thermometer pocket specified in JIS F 7210 and the thermometer

    specified in JIS B 7411. Remark: Only thermometer pockets may be equipped at temperature measuring positions. 3) Bimetal type thermometer Remark: The dimensions of mounting threads shall be as shown in Fig. 1 and the shape shall, as a rule, be as shown

    in Fig 1. b) Remote indicating type The remote indicating type thermometers shall be as follows.

    1) Electric type thermometers - Specified in JIS C 1601. - Specified in JIS C 1603. 2) Bourdon tube type thermometers - Specified in JIS B 7528. - Specified in JIS B 7529.

    4. Scale readings The scale readings of thermometers shall be as given in Tables 1 to 7.

    5. Application The application of thermometers shall, as a rule, be as shown in Table 8.

    6. Measuring point of temperature The measuring point of temperature shall, as a rule, be as given in the following Attached Table 1.

    Remark: For the maximum scale readings not specified in the above tables, it is recommended to select 1.2 to 1.5 times the maximum working temperature.
