As per instructions from Railway Board a Test trial was conducted between AGC-New Delhi/NZM section in a working Gatiman Express train to measure the secondary coil spring deflection and Bump Stop Gap of LHB AC Coaches on FIAT bogie. The said trial was done on 08-04-2017 and a brief on the report of the trial along with the complete report is enclosed herewith for kind perusal please.
It has been found that the springs have never reached the Bump stop gap limits and hence it is concluded that the operating range of the springs is within their designed limits.

From NZM to AGC
The maximum spring deflection observed in on loading condition from NZM to AGC is 64.mm from tare condition of coach (between km mark 1430-29)
The minimum Bump stop gap observed in on loading condition from NZM to AGC is 14.mm (between km mark 1430-29).
From AGC to NZM
The maximum spring deflection observed in on loading condition from AGC to NZM is 65.mm from tare condition of coach (between km mark 1470-71).
The minimum Bump stop gap observed in on loading condition from AGC to NZM is 18.mm (between km mark 1470-71).

MEASUREMENT OF SECONDARY COIL SPRING DEFLECTION OF LHB AC COACHES ON FIAT BOGIE IN GATIMAN EXPRESS WITH THE MAXIMUM OPERATING SPEED ON AGRA-
NEW DELHI/NZM SECTION.
1. INTRODUCTION:
1.1 As per instruction of Railway Board, it is required to measure the deflection of
secondary coil spring and vertical bump stop gap on FIAT bogie in LHB coaches
operating with Gatiman Express
1.2 The trial was conducted as per Test Scheme No. RDSO/2017/CG/TS-03 dated March
2017 issued by Carriage Directorate.
2. OBJECT OF TESTS:
To measure the secondary coil spring deflection and vertical bump stop gap in LHB coaches
on Fiat bogie of Gatiman Express on AGRA-NEW DELHI section with the existing maximum
permissible speed. The measurement shall be done on one Power Car (LWLRRM) and one
second class chair car (LWSCZAC) coach.
3. TEST TRAIN:
The test special shall consist of one WAP5 locomotive fit for 160 kmph, and LHB coaches in
actual formation for GATIMAN EXPRESS on a normal working train with passenger.

4. VENUE OF TESTS AND TEST PERIOD:
Trials were conducted at a maximum speed of 160 kmph in UP and DOWN direction
between HAZRAT NIZAMUDDIN (NZM) - AGRA CANTT (AGC) section of Northern and
North Central Railway on 08.04.2017.
5. TEST PROCEDURE:
Leading bogie of the Power Car (LWLRRM) and leading & trailing bogies of AC chair Car were instrumented in the actual formation of Gatiman express for recording the parameters. The details of Instrumentation set-up is given below. All channels were recorded with a sampling rate of 100 Hz with low pass filter of 10Hz.
Initial Bump stop gap in tare condition of coaches of all instrumented bogies were taken from SSE/Sick line/New Delhi/Northern Railway (attached at annexure-3). Data for Secondary coil springs and Bump stop deflections were captured with reference to tare condition of coach.

As per test scheme the maximum vertical deflection of secondary suspension and minimum bump stop gap observed during run from NZM to AGC is tabulated below:

Details value of maximum deflection & minimum bump stop gap of Chair Car and Power Car in UP and Down direction are given from data sheet no. 1 to 6.
The data of video recording is huge approximate 172.4 GB cannot give in CD/DVD, hence Video clips at some locations, where the deflection in first two coils of secondary spring is minimum or higher are separated from above video recording and attached in a CD. Snap shots of some locations have also been taken from recorded video and attached at annexure 4.
7. OBSERVATION:
From NZM to AGC
The maximum spring deflection observed in on loading condition from NZM to AGC is 64 mm from
tare condition of coach (between km marks 1430-29)
The minimum Bump stop gap observed in on loading condition from NZM to AGC is 14 mm
(between km marks 1430-29).
From AGC to NZM
