    Facts related to Crime Against Women

    Violence against women and girls is a problem of

    pandemic proportions.

    Based on country data available , up to 70 per cent of

    women experience physical or sexual violence from

    men in their lifetime the majority by husbands,

    intimate partners or someone they know. Among women aged between 15 and 44, acts of

    violence cause more death and disability than cancer,

    malaria, traffic accidents and war combined

    Femicide the murder of women because they are women

    In India, 22 women were killed each day in dowry-related murders in 2007 Trafficking

    Women and girls comprise 80 percent of the estimated 800,000 people

    trafficked annually , with the majority (79 percent) trafficked for sexual

    exploitation Sexual violence against women and girls

    An estimated 150 million girls under 18 suffered some form of sexual

    violence in 2002 alone.Over 60 million girls worldwide are child brides, married before the age of

    18, primarily in South Asia (31.1 million and Sub-Saharan Africa (14.1

    million).

    Methodology for SAP conductionNukkad Natak (Street Play)

    Maximum number of students should be 10 -12.

    The students would design a script/play with respect to thetopic.

    With the prior permission of higher authorities, the streetplay would be enacted in the campus.

    The maximum duration of the play should be 15 minutesand requires participation from all the members of thegroup.

    Documentary/ Movie making Maximum number of students should be eight.

    Documentaries or short films on the SAP topic shouldinclude the following things:

    1. Orientation to the topic.

    2. Theme based or situation specific incidents.

    3. Offering objectified learnings at the end.

    Group should reflect and share their experiences withthe class.

    Distribution of informative pamphlets to the class ismandatory

    Visit to Women Support Centre /

    NGO Visit Maximum number of students should be four.

    The students are required to visit the NGOs working for

    the empowerment of the women sufferers to discusstheir life experiences, their struggles, their achievements& their growth.

    It could also be a case study for the success story of asingle person studying their life and capturing it in thevideo/pictures for sensitizing masses.

    The videos or reports should be informative, takingthrough the life journey, reflective and further sensitiveand empathetically taken.

    Survey Interviews/ Questionnaires

    Maximum number of students should be five. Survey should be conducted on a minimum of fifty

    people. Questionnaires could be both structured and

    unstructured on the respective SAP topic. A detailed analysis should be presented in the form of a

    power point presentation. Distribution of informational pamphlets to the participants

    of the survey is mandatory.

    Important SAP conduction points

    Each faculty will select one methodology for conduction of SAP for

    their one respective class. For example, the entire 2CS5 will be picking

    up any one methodology & preparing the SAP accordingly.

    All BS faculty are required to conduct SAP in the class

    On SAP day across AUUP, the best SAP presentation will be selected &

    displayed to sensitize students across AUUP

    The tentative date for conduction of SAP day is mid February,2013

    All faculty are required to inform students about SAP topic & conduct SAP

    in BS classes before 2nd week of February,2013.

    All BS faculty are required to compile the best presentations as

    nominations for SAP day

    All BS faculty are required to submit their best SAP projects to the faculty

    Incharge latest by Mid March, 2013.
