Guidelines for Mini-Paper Two (MP2), due by email attachment [email protected] (MS-Word) by or before 9 Am on

    Wed 14 Nov 2012

    EIL 460, Fall 2012

The objective of MP2 is for you to demonstrate your learning of the skill set for spec-driven test development. Please

keep that goal in mind as you work through this assignment. Please also have a look at my grading performance scale inthe course syllabus and keep it in mind, as well.

Please write a maximum of six pages total (maximum seven), typed and double-spaced, excluding references and

    appendices (if any).

There are two required segments to your MP2 and one optional segment. Precisely required headers are shown in

quotes and include the numbering shown:

[required] 1. Additional Change(s)Here, you should discuss your groups spec in its most current form . Explain and

explore how you would like to alter or revise that spec. What would you personally like to add? Remove? Change?

Why? You can cut-and-paste short quotes from the spec itself or from other sources like internal MS-Word commentsor discussions on Google docs. You can talk about one or more than one change that you, yourself, would like to see.

There is no restriction (whatsoever) about the scope of the change. At one extreme, you could write this entire segmen

about a very fine-grained issue in your spec. At another extreme, you could write about several issues or one global

    consideration.

[required] 2. Tools and Challenges Here, you should reflect on tools and typical challenges of spec development.

Several are discussed in A4 and B4 in LTA, including but not limited to: specplates, reverse engineering, event versus

procedure, level of generality, and so forth. You can also study the Testcraft readings. Do any of these tools or

challenges apply to your groups spec, and if so, how? If none seem to apply, then invent and discuss a name of a tool or

challenge of your own, or perhaps more than one.

You can do the entire MP2 with only the above two segments, if you wish. Alternatively, you can add a third segment,

as follows. If you do add the third segment, then a precisely required header is again shown in quotes:

[optional] 3. Group Dynamics Here, you can discuss the chemistry and interaction of your group and how it

impacted on the development of your spec. There is some good background reading for this: a chapter in Testcraft

called TheTeam and the excerpt from JT Kims doctoral dissertation. Only you and I will ever read this, so you can be

    assured of confidentiality.

If you elect only to do the first two required segments, then about one-half of your paper should be allocated to each. If

you elect to do all three, then about one-third of the paper should be allocated to each.

Again, Use the headers exactly as shown above.

We will discuss MP2 actively as its due date approaches.
