An Inspirational Experience!Explore the Land of Biblical History & Prophesy and Experience the Realities of Israel Today For Yourself

“I feel deeply honored and privileged to stand here before you today representing the citizens of the state of Israel. We are an ancient people. We date back nearly 4,000 years to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. We have journeyed through time. We’ve overcome the greatest of adversities. And we re-established our sovereign state in our ancestral homeland, the land of Israel. Now, the Jewish people’s odyssey through time has taught us two things: Never give up hope, always remain vigilant. Hope charts the future. Vigilance protects it. In our

time the Biblical prophecies are being realized. As the prophet Amos said, they shall rebuild ruined cities and inhabit them. They shall plant vineyards and drink their wine. They shall till gardens and eat their fruit. And I will plant them upon their soil never to be uprooted again. Ladies and gentlemen, the people of Israel have come home never to be uprooted again.”

- Benjamin Netanyahu Prime Minister Of Israel -Address to the UN October 2013

Day By Day ItineraryMonday Day 1: Off To Israel!Shalom! Finally the day has arrived! You’re on your way to Israel! Just a 12 hour flight from New York separates you from the Middle East. As you embark your destination will be the land of the Bible. Where kings ruled, prophets spoke, and countless men and women of the Word were led by their God! You’ll experience the cultural and political complexities of the Holy Land first hand and you’ll be exposed to God’s prophetic promises still on His calendar. As you follow the footsteps of Yeshuah and learn from the lessons He taught on location, countless precious memories will be your souvenirs as you return home from your journey to share your experiences.

Tuesday Day 2: ArrivalBarucheem HaBaeem Le’Eretz Yisrael! Welcome to the Land of Israel- “A land which the Lord thy God careth for: the eyes of the Lord thy God are always upon it.” Deuteronomy 11:12

Your host and guide, Brad Brough will greet you and lead you to the seminar bus. Our two hour journey this afternoon will take us from Ben Gurion

International Airport near Tel Aviv to the Sea of Galilee. Along the way your tired eyes will witness the land promised to the seed of Abraham, Genesis 15:18. Don’t worry; we will be visiting the sites we’re passing by later in our trip. Once we arrive at the Sea of Galilee we’ll eat a unique Middle Eastern dinner together and check into our resort. Each morning and evening you’ll be eating in the hotel where we’ll be staying, and we’ll eat scrumptious lunches together on the road.

Wednesday Day 3: OrientationFor the next several days when you wake up, the Sea of Galilee will be right outside your window! Today we have a slower paced and fun day planned to increase your love and understanding of Israel which will build throughout your trip. We’ll start with the history of Baptists for Israel Institute (BII) and how the Lord has worked in and through us since 1974. We’ll also have an informal class on Israel’s geography and an informative lecture on the Arab/Israeli Conflict. Coffee, tea, and Israeli pastries will accompany our time of learning of course! Next, we’ll have a local tour of the fields and kibbutzim in the area, seeing firsthand the promise of Ezekiel 36:34-35; “The desolate land shall be tilled... The waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced.” We’ll enjoy a Bar-B-Q lunch with our BII team, followed by Prayer and Praise - Get ready to sing in Hebrew! In the evening you’ll have the opportunity to visit with an Israeli family on the kibbutz.

Thursday Day 4: Jezreel ValleyDeuteronomy 8:7 “For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills.” Get ready to explore some of those valleys and hills today! Mount Tabor is our first stop today, as we read from Judges 4-5 the battle the Israelites fought against Sisera will come to life as we remember God’s great victory. Up the hill in Nazareth, we will visit a rebuilt 1st century village, to gain a better understanding of what life was like for Yeshuah as He grew up in Nazareth. Here you’ll get a fantastic

introduction to the world that He knew, Galatians 4:4-5. As we return to the valley we will make our way to Megiddo, this magnificent city guarded the entrance of the Via Maris into the valley for thousands of years. The city was fortified by King Solomon, I Kings 9:15-19. From the ruins of the city, we’ll have breathtaking views of the valley of war where Armageddon will be fought in the future, Revelation 16:16. As we make our way through the valley we’ll pass the palace Ahab & Jezebel ruled from (I Kings 21) and we’ll scoop water from the spring where the Lord chose the army of Gideon (Judges 7). Bet Shean will be our final stop today. Here we’ll walk through both an Old Testament site and a beautifully restored Roman/Byzantine city from New Testament times. Back to the Sea of Galilee!

Friday Day 5: Northern IsraelToday our trip will take us near the borders of Jordan, Lebanon, & Syria as we make our way to the headwaters of the Jordan River. First, we’ll travel the eastern shores of the Sea of Galilee to Chorazim, one of the three cities of woe (Matthew 11:21-24). Continuing north, our next destination will be Hatzor, named in Joshuah 11: 10 as “The head of all those kingdoms” in northern Israel during the time of Joshuah’s conquest. As we read from Scripture we’ll relive the victories given to him as “The Lord God of Israel fought for Israel,” Joshuah 10:42. From Dan we’ll see Lebanon just over the hill as we explore this oasis of springs and streams. As we hike through the gate and sit on the steps of the temple, set up in this territory conquered by the tribe of Dan (Judges 17-18),

Page 3: f the beaten path - Bethany Baptist Church

we’ll remember the sad end and the idolatry of the city, I Kings 12:28-33. In Caesarea Philippi we’ll study the story from Matthew 16:13-21 where Yeshuah asked His disciples “Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?” On our way back to the Sea of Galilee we’ll see the Mount of Transfiguration, an Israeli Bunker, and a spectacular panoramic view from the Golan Heights.

Saturday Day 6: Mediterranean SeaOur day will begin in the village of Dir Hanna as we visit with our bus driver’s family in their home. Akko, an ancient port of Israel, we be our first stop of the day. Here we’ll explore the fascinating ruins to discover the Biblical and Crusader history. Traveling down the coast we’ll stop in Haifa. We’ll enjoy a stunning view of the city and Israel’s northern coastline from the panoramic view on Mount Carmel. As we continue through the mountain range we’ll remember Elijah’s tremendous victory over the prophets of Baal, I Kings 18. Falafel and a host of local salads will be our food of choice today and we shop and dine in the Druze village of Daliyyat El Carmel. Caesarea on the Mediterranean Sea is our final stop today as we sit in the theater, stroll by the palace, and gaze upon the magnificent harbor of the New Testament city built by none other than Herod the Great. Here Peter was sent to preach to Cornelius (Acts 10), from this spot Paul and many others set sail to spread the gospel to the uttermost parts of the earth.

Sunday Day 7: Around the Sea of Galilee

What a wonderful opportunity to relive the messages Yeshuah preached to multitudes and the private lessons He taught His disciples. Our day will start on the banks of the Jordan River for a devotional time as we remember how “Jesus came from

Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan” Mark 1:9. Traveling around the Sea we’ll make our way through Tiberius to the Mount of Beatitudes to remember the gracious words of the Master. In Capernaum, “His own city” (Matthew 9:1) we’ll sit in the synagogue where Yeshuah taught (John 6:59). We’ll also spend some time of quiet reflection as we think upon the many things Yeshuah did and said here and nearby. At Ginnosar we’ll see an ancient boat from New Testament times, and we’ll set sail on a boat ride (diesel powered) across the Sea to give us a good perspective of the Biblical stories that happened on these waters. A unique culinary experience awaits as you enjoy a lunch of Saint Peter’s Fish at Kibbutz En Gev. In the evening we’ll fellowship on the Sea as we prepare to leave the Galilee.

Monday Day 8: Dead SeaThe lowest place on earth is our destination today- 1,300 feet below sea level! On our way we’ll see Jericho where the walls came tumbling down as the Lord led Joshuah and the Israelites to conquer the land. At the top of the Dead Sea is Qumran, here we’ll visit the modest ruins of the monastic community who produced the Dead Sea Scrolls. Our visit to this site will remind us that we can trust our Bibles- God has preserved His Word! Next, our group will enjoy a light hike in En Gedi, where David hid from King Saul “upon the rocks of the wild goats,” I Samuel 24:2. Get ready to climb Masada! Via cable-car of course. In 90 seconds you’ll be taken up to the very mountain fortified by Herod the Great, where the Jewish zealots made their last stand against the Romans in 73 A.D. As we gaze upon these impressive ruins and views we’ll recall the drama which causes Israelis today to say “Masada Shall Not Fall Again!”. We’ll arrive at our hotel/spa at the southern end of the Dead Sea early enough to give you ample time to float in the buoyant waters of the Dead Sea and relax in the area.

Tuesday Day 9: Up To Jerusalem! Our day will begin on the shores of the Dead Sea, but it will end in Jerusalem. Keep your shades open this morning so you can enjoy a breath-taking sunrise over the Moab Mountains. As we travel west out of the valley we’ll see the location of Sodom & Gomorrah in the distance where the Lord destroyed the cities of the plain, Genesis 19. In Beersheba we’ll see a well like the one described in Genesis 21:22-33 where Abraham made a covenant with Abimalech. Passing through the plain of the Philistines we’ll stop in Mareshah a city of Judah fortified by Rehoboam. Choose five smooth stones from the brook as we stand in the valley where David fought Goliath, I Samuel 17. Both armies learned that day “The battle is the Lord’s.” At the Israeli Armored Corp museum and memorial a soldier will explain the site and tell stories of those who fought bravely for Israel. As we enter Jerusalem we’ll see a model from New Testament times to give us an eye opening introduction to the historical, geographical, and archaeological realities of this incredible city. For the rest of your visit you’ll be staying at a hotel on the edge of Jerusalem overlooking Bethlehem.

Wednesday Day 10: The Walled City Of JerusalemThe spot where Jerusalem began is where we’ll start our day, in the City of David. As we approach, we’ll see the city from a distance as Abraham saw it in Genesis 22. Once we arrive, we’ll see the remains of King David’s palace and the ancient water source- the Gihon Spring,

you can even walk through Hezekiah’s tunnel if you want! The old walled city of Jerusalem is where we’ll spend the remainder of our day. See the original steps and walls of the temple mount, touch the stones of the wailing wall, and explore the city underground through tunnels running alongside the western wall. Schwarma will be our lunch experience to enjoy; you’ll have to come to Israel to discover what it is and how good it tastes! As we make our way through the old city we’ll visit the Temple Institute where plans are being made and items are being created for the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple. At the burnt house we’ll see a priestly family’s home that was burned when Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D. Enjoy lots of shopping time and unique experiences today as we make our way through the courtyards and alleyways of Old Jerusalem.

Thursday Day 11: Around & About Jerusalem“Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king,” Matthew 2:1. We’ll discover the profound details of that verse as we visit Bethlehem where Christ was born and the Herodium nearby. Returning to Jerusalem we’ll take time to shop and eat in the Ben Yehudah walking mall. Next, is an opportunity to tour the Knesset, you will thoroughly enjoy this one and a half hour exposure to the place where Israel’s politics happen. Outside is a candelabra given to Israel by Great Britain in 1956 which tells the story of God’s Chosen People in its seven branches. Our final stop of the day will be to Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust memorial, portraying individual stories of the six million Jewish people who perished in this sad chapter in Jewish history. This is not an easy visit, but it illustrates for us one reason why Israel exists today.

Friday Day 12: The Passion WeekOur final day in Israel together is going to be an exciting

and memorable one! We’ll begin from the Mount of Olives where Yeshuah ascended into heaven and where He’ll be coming back, Acts 1! You can have your picture taken on a camel

overlooking the city if you’d like. As we walk down to the Garden of Gethsemane we’ll read various accounts from the Gospels describing Yeshuah’s Passion Week. It’s an emotional experience as we trace the steps of Yeshuah that led him to His painful and humiliating death. We’ll worship and rejoice together in the Garden Tomb as we are powerfully reminded that we serve a living Savior, I Corinthians 15:20. We’ll eat dinner together and enjoy one final time of fellowship recalling the memories, blessings, and lessons of the seminar before we travel to the airport. Shalom!

Saturday Day 13: Homeward Bound! As you board the plane you will be tired, but refreshed by the fellowship and discoveries throughout your trip.
