ABOUT KITSAP COUNTY

Centrally located on the Kitsap Peninsula, Silverdale offers scenic trails, beachfront and stunning views of Dyes Inlet, Mount Rainier, the Olympic Mountains and glorious sunsets. Easy beach access leads to outdoor fun, and the malls, movie theaters and hundreds of shops offer plenty of indoor activities, too.

ABOUT CENTRAL KITSAP FIRE AND RESCUE

CKFR, located in the central portion of Kitsap County, is one of the largest fire service providers on the Olympic Peninsula.  Within its boundaries, CKFR provides Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) response to approximately 115 square miles of land and serves a population of more than 72,000 citizens. In addition, CKFR is the County’s fastest growing fire agency as a result of a series of mergers, consolidations and contracts for fire and EMS protection services. Because of its peninsula type layout, CKFR has 40 miles of tidal waterfront with adjacent saltwater area plus numerous small lakes and ponds. The area is experiencing a steady but rapid growth rate. The economy is stable, generally because of the diversification of its economic base.

A budget of $18.2 million allows the 86 career, 50 volunteers, and 25 administrative members to offer a full range of emergency services. These services include fire suppression, public education, technical rescue, hazardous materials, wildland–interface suppression, and full emergency medical services for advanced life and basic life support responses including transport.

CKFR provides emergency response services from ten fire stations, six career/volunteer staffed stations and four all-volunteer staffed stations. A co-owned administrative campus shared with Silverdale Water District is comprised of two shared facilities and serves as the District’s administrative facility and vehicle maintenance facility.  On average, there are 7,000 annual calls for service, with approximately 75 percent being emergency medical responses.
