Begin by placing the scarf around the neck with one end in each hand in front of the chest. Make a loop in the left-hand tail piece by going around your index finger.
Leaving the index finger within the loop of the tail piece will assist in the second step.
With the left-hand index finger still within the loop of the left-hand tail piece, pass the right hand tail piece under the tip of the left-hand tail piece; leaving the left-hand tail piece on top and hanging infront of left hand. The right-hand tail piece will continue around the top of the left hand passing over the left-hand side of the scarf. The end of the right-hand tail piece may be held behind the forming knot (between
knot and neck) with the left-hand thumb to prepare for the third step.
With index finger still within the loop of the left-hand side of scarf, use right hand to pull other tail piece behind the forming knot and hold at the right-hand side. Next use your right index finger to push the tailpiece on the right-hand side over the first pass of the other tail piece and under (through the loop made by index finger) the other pass. As you push the tail piece through the loop with the right- hand index finger, remove the left-hand index finger at a recip-ricating rate.
The key here is keeping your knot tight to ensure proper placement.
The knot can be tightened from all sides by pulling each end of the scarf with one hand and holding the knot with the other.
If you’re having trouble, this knot can easily be learned following the same prin-ciples and replacing one’s neck with a knee, sitting flat on the floor with one leg
meeting the floor perpendicularly and the scarf pulled over the knee.
