"The Financial Supply Chain"

Professor Eric Larson & Dr. Rudolf Leuschner

Assistant Professors of Supply Chain Management &

Marketing Sciences at Rutgers Business School

In a changing world, where financial considerations are becoming more important for most firms, SCM has only begun to include finan-

cial issues beyond cost and revenue. Global supply chains have become increasingly complex and financial infrastructures must be

developed to support them. As large manufacturers have increased the efficiency of their supply chains, their suppliers often been left

with the difficulty of financing their operations. This struggle in obtaining funding, planning revenue recognition and currency swaps can

have severe implications on profitability, cash flow, and working capital, and sometimes leads to bankruptcies and disruptions. As a

result, firms strive to develop methods to plan their cash flows and finance their operations, in addition to their diverse and sometimes

underfunded supply base.

Key Takeaways: We will review and highlight tangible considerations of the multiple touch points with corporate finance, and show how

supply chain organizations can leverage these to deliver better financial performance.

Who Should Attend:

Supply chain professionals at all levels who are interested in understanding what industry leaders

are doing to leverage their supply chains.

Finance professionals at all levels who are interested in understanding developments in their sup-

ply chain management which can impact both their income statement and the balance sheet.

What Will They Learn:

Metrics which are key to financial executives and how supply chain professionals can measurably

impact them.

Executive Message: Well we had another absolutely terrific Central Jersey APICS year and I would like to thank all of our members for supporting us. In 2014, Central Jersey APICS offered the

most public and private classes in many years. We are working very closely with Rutgers University in order to develop a strong relationship to help students enter the

workplace. This year we are hoping to develop relationships with other Colleges and Universities in New Jersey.

Again this year, we are committed to delivering the highest quality Education and Training to all of our members. We are currently conducting CPIM public classes in Somer-

set, New Jersey and CSCP in Bloomfield, New Jersey. We can deliver the same education and/or a hybrid directly to your facility if that better suits your needs. If that is the

case, please contact Central Jersey APICS.

Please join me on February 4 and the rest of our APICS members when we present in conjunction with the Institute for Supply Management Pre-dinner forum "The Organized

Crime of the 21st Century - Counterfeiting and Knockoffs" and as our main topic "The Financial Supply Chain"
