A BIG Thank you for your support through the transition to school process –

One-to-one Meetings back in May,

Transition Week in the Summer term

Part time sessions over the first two weeks.

It has been extremely successful. We appreciate how difficult it can be organising who is bringing and collecting your child during these sessions but I think you will agree how successful it has been in settling in the children. Could I also thank Grandparents and other family members in this too?

Parental SupportHow can you help?

Home/School book – photographs, leaflets, collections, writing, drawings. It is NOT a competition.

Reading books – sharing the book several times. Reading isn’t just about reading the words but talking together about the topic/theme in the book, talking about the stories, children handling the book turning the pages etc. See reading support www.barrowhall.co.uk - School Information, Curriculum, Literacy

Encourage “Reading for Pleasure” – talk to the children about when you are reading – the newspaper, a magazine, a recipe, instructions for something you have bought, signs and posters etc

Quality reading time rather than quantity. We don’t want to turn the children off.
