EYE SPY 90
FROM THE EDITOR - MARK BIRDSALL
FALSE FLAG OPERATIONS
The loss of Crimea to Russia and the bizarre disappearance of Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370 have dominated thenews of late. The former may have come as a surprise to some, but Moscow has been scheming for years to seize theUkrainian region - an important location as it supports and hosts the Russian Navy’s Black Sea Fleet. What surprisedmany analysts was the sheer number of so-called ‘false flag’ operations enabled in such a short time frame.Deceptions are always difficult to predict, but the lengthy civilian protests and political dithering of Europe toembrace the Ukraine, allowed Moscow’s military intelligence planners and spies to grab the moment.
Few countries in the world, perhaps Britain and the United States excluded, have the skill and experience of Russia in respect of under-cover, covert and disinformation operations. And this was evidenced not too long ago in Chechnya and other neighbouring countries.Perhaps timely then, that in this edition of Eye Spy we carry a fascinating and revealing interview with US-based Russian historian andinvestigative author Yuri Felshtinsky. For those not too familiar with Yuri, he was the man who along with Russian billionaire BorisBerezovsky, helped organise the escape of FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko some 14 years ago. A few years later, they wrote the powerfuland controversial book ‘Blowing Up Russia’ in which they accused President Putin of deliberating authorising attacks in several Russiancities resulting in 300 deaths. These ‘false flag’ operations were allegedly carried out by the FSB and blamed on Chechen terrorists. Theallegations were never proven one way or another, but they did create a climate that enabled Russia to invade Chechnya. Some CIAsources have spoken to Eye Spy and have compared the events to what is happening in the Ukraine today. For those who await a US andWestern response, sadly it will not amount to anything other than punitive sanctions.
As for Litvinenko, of course, he and several of hisassociates were assassinated.
Russia is rising again and intelligence analysts believeit will further strengthen its liaisons with counties suchas Syria, Iran and North Korea. This must be a greatworry to many. Is a new Cold War forming? Perhaps.
The Felshtinsky interview and background to thecrisis in Ukraine, including how Moscow outflankedthe West, are just two of numerous fascinatingfeatures in this edition .

WORLD EXCLUSIVE
As Marina Litvinenko, the widow of former FSB officer and MI6 agent Alexander, murdered inLondon in 2006, wins a High Court battle for a public inquiry into his death, Eye Spy talks exclu-sively to Russian investigative author and historian Yuri Felshtinsky. He played a pivotal role in theLitvinenkos escape from Russia and together with the agent, wrote the explosive book - ‘BlowingUp Russia’, which accused the FSB of perpetrating several terrorist attacks that killed 300 people -a false flag operation used as an excuse to invade Chechnya. His research is made even morerelevant by current events in the Ukraine.
In this explosive interview, Felshtinsky provides a unique perspective of the days, weeks, monthsand years leading up to the assassination of Litvinenko and who he believes ordered his death.Plus the background behind the execution of several associates and the role played by Russianbillionaire Boris Berezovsky - Litvinenko’s former employer and a sworn enemy of President Putin. He died in suspicious circumstances in 2013...
