Research in GermanyWhat you should know for co-operation and/or your stay in Germany

❖ The DFG does not offer fellowships to students for

individual funding, for dissertation work or stays

abroad. Only researchers who have completed their

doctorates are entitled to apply to the DFG. However,

students can participate in DFG-funded projects as

assistants. This way, the DFG supports research-

oriented teaching in its various funding instruments.

During Studies

❖The DFG funds doctoral researchers in Research

Training Groups and research projects by means of

doctoral posts or fellowships. This means that you apply

directly to the person in charge of the Research Training

Group or project in question. Only individuals who have

completed their doctoral studies are entitled to apply to the

DFG.
