Understanding Incoterms® 2010

INCOTERMS – the most vital of all abbreviations in international

trade written by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) – are

an essential element of international transactions. Incoterms rules

have been a boon to international trade in goods by simplifying and

clarifying whether the buyer or seller carries the risk of loss or

damage to goods, when the risk passes and who will pay for the

carriage and insurance of goods as well as customs clearance.

Since the last revision in 2000, much has changed in global trade.

The current revision takes into account issues such as developments

in cargo security post 9/11 and the growing need to replace paper

documents with electronic ones.

The seminar will review the key provisions in the new

Incoterms®2010 and what these changes mean for importers and

exporters. Participants will be guided through case studies as to how

to apply the Incoterms®2010 rules.
