International Baccalaureate Students tested 139, Exams taken 596, Diploma pass rate 93%
Men’s and Women’s Athletics Six years out of the last nine, Skyline has been named the Most Outstanding 4A Sports School of the Year by The Salt Lake Tribune, and The Deseret News named Skyline as the Women’s Sports School of the Year. Since 1990 Skyline has won 54 State Championships, a high for our Region and School District. Over 400 men and 350 young women par-ticipate in a UHSAA activity.
DebateSkyline Forensics is a nationally ranked program. Skyline has achieved unparalleled records in individual speech events. Each year a record number of Skyline debaters are named region and state champions. Skyline boasts several students recognized as National Forensics League Aca-demic All-Americans.
Off-Campus options/GTIThe “Tech Center” for Skyline and the Granite school dis-trict is the Granite Technical Institute. (GTI, http: //schools.graniteschools.org/gti/). This year, the GTI offers 83 Career and Technical Education courses asso-ciated with 14 different fields of study. Examples of these courses are: Medical Assisting, Dental Assisting, Plumbing, Marketing, Computer Programming, Aerospace Manu-facturing, Agricultural Science, Engineering Principles, Pilot Ground School, etc… Busses are available at Skyline to transport students to and from the GTI. Two hundred and twenty-five Skyline students enrolled in one or more classes at the GTI during the 2016-17 school year.
CTSO’s Skyline sponsors each of the following CTSOs: DECA, FBLA, Skills USA, TSA. These organizations are established with the commitment to make a positive difference in the lives of young people. In addition to offering a wide variety of specific career arid technical training, CTSOs integrate student leadership elements, which compliment stu-dent participation in Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses and programs.
Instrumental MusicThe Skyline Instrumental Music Department continues to be one of the premier music departments in the state of Utah. The Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Orchestra consistently receive superior ratings at region, state, and national festivals. Highlights of the year include concerts, Skyline concerto night, a musical theater, and tours.
Vocal MusicSkyline’s Choral groups have consistently earned a reputation of excellence, achieving the highest awards in regional, state, and national festivals. In addition to Madri-gals and Concert Choir, Sky line has two Barbershop choirs - Troubadours and Highlites - a unique feature which draws many students to the school.
