Extracurricular activities today play an important role in the all-round development of

students. They improve school performance, promote relationships, boost motivation

and self-esteem help to instil positive physical, intellectual and social habits that revert in a

better management and organization of leisure time.

SEK-Catalunya has designed, in line with the principles and values of the SEK Educational

Model a wide and varied range of first-rate extracurricular activities which give students the

opportunity to enrich their academic, cultural, artistic and sporting education.

These activities represent an ideal complement to students' education and help stimulate

them, affording them an optimal way to enhance their personal qualities.

SEK-Catalunya designs its extracurricular activities based on three key priorities and

taking into account the preferences and needs of each student: Individualised education

(the learning process adapts to the interests and abilities of each student); bilingual and

international education (learning languages and developing a mindset open to other

cultures) and training in skills and competences (creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship,

critical thinking, communication, teamwork).

Choosing which activities are most appropriate for each student based on their abilities,

interests and motivations is not always easy. Therefore, tutors will always be available to

families to advise and help them make the right decision.

Throughout the school year, a follow-up of the work involved in these activities is carried

out which is further analysed and assessed in the quarterly meetings with the tutor.

Through these activities we ensure students' all-round education, develop their creativity and sensitivity by doing art activities in different fields such as music, ballet, dance, drama and art.

SEK-Catalunya has an agreement with the Conservatori del Liceu. The programme's academic structure enables us to optimise the time devoted to music and combines the education received by students at school in learning their chosen instrument, at the school itself and outside school hours.

The aim of the SEK-Catalunya music school is to offer a high added-value music learning programme, which stimulates students, is widely acknowledged for its quality, includes learning an instrument, enables them to play in music ensembles, choirs and bands and is integrated with the Spanish curriculum, and that we are all very proud of in our educational community.

17Instruments Children choose an instrument after having become familiar with it, both in visual terms and its sounds, and knowing the different options it offers such as forming part of an orchestra, chamber music ensembles and so forth. The students will have to decide which they like best and best suits their personalities. Parents or teachers may advise the child, but it is clear that the first contact of children with instruments should be the result of a personal choice and how attracted they are to it. 25Within this section we offer activities that are fundamentally aimed at promoting and supporting the well-being of students. These activities are where the sense of play, relaxation, self-knowledge and shared directed or free play, take centre stage.

These workshops encourage and favour active participation and develop many creative aspects of students' personalities, among other things.

YogaPrimary School: The initial Asanas are adapted to their age through group games, thus helping the cohesion of groups. Children will quickly gain greater awareness of their physical body and its possibilities. They increase flexibility in muscles and joints. From Year 4, we develop the Asanas and delve deeper into their technique, improving posture, favouring laterality, stimulating vital functions (breathing & circulatory system) and providing an overall improvement in health.

Secondary Baccalaureate: In this important stage of their life, so full of changes, Yoga will teach them techniques to increase their self-esteem, strengthen their personality and "their place" in this world. We will familiarize ourselves with various elements of Yoga; The physical part or Asanas will help us to develop muscular strength, improving posture and maintaining balanced energy. With breathing or Pranayama, will learn to redirect their thoughts and calm their nervous system, increasing their ability to concentrate. At the spiritual level it allows them to attain qualities such as kindness, compassion or non-violence. Developing more conscious thoughts, enjoying every thing they do and learning to live the here and now.
