Coffee is consumed mainly in developed countries of the northern hemisphere , its consumption has shown steady growth in recent years with an average annual rate of 1 %. For this product, Germany is the largest coffee consumer in the EU , followed by Italy, France, Spain , UK and Poland.

Coffee is also a popular drink in other EU member countries as Estonia and Slovenia. The European consumer is very demanding in terms of quality and good practice in the development of products.
