BwB - Introduction
Bankers without Borders is Grameen Foundations Skilled Based Volunteer
initiative;
Using volunteers, we assist Microfinance Institutions (MFI), technology for
development organizations (T4D), including Grameen Foundation, and Social
Enterprises (SE) serving poor people to more effectively and efficiently achievetheir social missions.
J.P. Morgan $3 Million, 3-Year Commitment to Expand Program
To date:
More than 600 volunteers have served on more than 300 projects;
Donated more than 65,000 hours of service, worth more than $5 million in total;
Assisted Grameen Foundation programs and departments as well as 45 MFIs and
social enterprises in 18 countries;

Project Scope:
Re-evaluate and improve MOTECH materials and approach for training Ghana Health Service staff at the
district and health facility level on MOTECH.
Re-evaluate the call center policy and operational practices, and how these interact with field processes.
Assist the team to document lessons learned through the replication of MOTECH in another district.
Assist the team to develop a funding proposal for phase 2 of MOTECHImpact: Smoother and more efficient support and orientation processes

Project Scope: Matched Volunteer will travel to Kenya to certify the use of the PPI Tool at Boma Project
Impact: Certification is offering PPI users an opportunity to be officially recognized by Grameen Foundation as
accurately administering and producing transparent PPI results. This certification will be recognized by
industry bodies and investors alike. For the organization itself this certification can lead to enhanced social
performance transparency, improve relationships with external stakeholders, recognition within the
microfinance industry, and even receiving favorable terms from socially focused investors.

Volunteer Testimonial: to see the important work being done by BOMA and the positive effects it has had
on the Laisamis community has been an inspiring, humbling and heartwarming experience

Enhance the capacity of select MFI to reach and serve more financially excluded persons in Ethiopia;
Enhance AEMFIs capacity to serve its members;
Increase internal operational efficiency of the local institutions using improved business processes and
technology;
Train and equip MFIs with new financial forecasting tools and knowledge;
Increase use of volunteers consultants in MF sector.
