MARTINS FAREWELL MESSAGE
Alongside our sixth, and
final, edition of explore,
I wish to provide some
thoughts and reflections
on the two-year journey of
International Banking Services, as
a tribute to those who made it
happen. Rather than clumsily
attempting to summarise the
massively successful
transformation from my own,
limited perspective, I have chosen
the words of well-known figures,
much wiser than myself, in the
hope that their words resonate and
provide insights which we can all
reflect upon, learn, and enjoy.
All our dreams can
come true if we
have the courage to
pursue them.
Walt Disney, animator
If you are going to be thinking
anyway, you may as well think big.
Donald Trump, entrepreneur
Attitude is a little thing that makes a
big difference.
Winston Churchill, former
Prime Minister of Great Britain
Nothing in the world can take the
place of persistence. Talent will not:
nothing is more common thanunsuccessful men with talent. Genius
will not: unrewarded genius is almost
a proverb. Education will not: the
world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistence and determination alone
are omnipotent.
Ray Kroc,
founder, McDonalds restaurants
Success is the progressive
realisation of predetermined
worthwhile goals.
Paul J. Meyer, businessmanand motivational guru
Dear
and
Go to the people
Live among them
Learn from themLove them
Start with what they know
Build on what they have
But of the best leaders
When their task is accomplished
Their work is done
The people will remark
We have done it ourselves
Ancient Eastern proverb
Watch and see the courses of the
stars as if you run with them, and
continually dwell in mind upon the
changes of the elements
into one another; for
these imaginations wash
away the foulness of life
on the ground.
Marcus Aurelius,
Roman Emperor and
philosopher
I think the purpose of life is to be
useful, to be responsible, to be
compassionate. It is, above all, to
matter: To count, to stand for
something, to have made some
difference that you have lived at all.
Leo C Rosten, historian
Thank you, my friends.
Yours aye,
Martin Allison
Here lies a man who
attracted better
people into his service
than he was himself.
Epitaph for
Andrew Carnegie,
industrialist and philanthropist
There is less to fear from outside
competition than from inside
inefficiency, discourtesy and
bad service. Anonymous
Always do right. That will gratify
some people and astonish the rest.
Mark Twain, author
A business has to be
involving, it has to be fun
and it has to exercise
your creative instincts.
Richard Branson,
entrepreneur
You cant change the direction
of the wind but you can adjust
your sails. Jonathan Swift, author
Its not enough to make
time for your children.
There are certain
stages in their lives
when you have to give
them the time when
they want it.
Andrew Grove,former chairman, Intel Corporation
Life affords no higher pleasure than
that of surmounting difficulties,
passing from one stage of success
to another, forming new wishes and
seeing them gratified. He that
labours in any great or
laudable undertaking has
his fatigues first
supported by hope and
afterwards supported
by joy.Samuel Johnson, author
