5. Byfield Township The small village of Byfield is a haven for craft and nature lovers. It has an attractive cafe, small school and numerous attractions and accommodation houses. 2. Red Rock Picnic Area 2WD smooth, 1 km from Byfield Road Set among pine trees, close to the main road and with ample space, Red Rock is a convenient base camp. It is the only place in Byfield where visitors can camp overnight with their dog (providing it is leashed). Camp sites are available for tents and caravans up to 4 m but only some camp sites have picnic tables and wood barbecues. Shared facilities are provided next to the car park and toilets. Camping Permit Required 8. Nine Mile Beach 4WD Access - Beach Driving Freshwater streams, sand blows and miles of surf and sand make Nine Mile Beach a popular destination. Some camping areas offer ocean views but no facilities. Only some areas are suitable for off-road camper trailers. The Southern end of the beach has a popular surf (beach) break. Camping Permit Required 7. Stockyard Point & Five Rocks 4WD Access - Sand Tracks This is a very remote and stunning section of coastline, boasting enormous sand dunes and eucalypt woodlands. It is accessible by 4WD through Byfield National Park’s main section. A popular walking activity is the Five Rocks track (up to 2 hr return) that follows Findlays Creek and leads to the beach. Advance bookings are required for camping. Stockyard Point is a small village with a number of permanant residents and holiday homes. Care and respect must be taken when driving through this area. Stockyard point has an excellent lookout to view the 5 rocks. Camping Permit Required 6. Ferns Hideaway Resort 67 Cahills Road, Byfield Ferns is a ‘must visit’ attraction when in Byfield. The restaurant is open for lunch Friday, Saturday & Sunday and dinner Saturday and offers a delicious modern a la carte menu comprising of the best fresh local ingredients. Ferns boasts an array of complementary guest activities. Water Park Creek Picnic Area 2WD smooth, 4 km from Byfield Road Nestled in lush forest, Water Park Creek is the perfect spot for bird enthusiasts and those wishing to see the Byfield fern (a cycad found only in this area). Toilets, shared picnic tables and automatic BBQs are provided in the day-use area and camp ground. Camp sites are available for motor homes, tents and camper trailers up to 3m. Camping Permit Required 4. Nob Creek Pottery 216 Arnolds Road, Byfield. Nob Creek Pottery is a studio producing fine work in the traditional style. Visitors can meet the artists, see the workshop and enjoy one of the largest displays of Australian and South East Asian craft work in the country. There are fine examples of pottery, hand blown glass, jewellery, woodwork, sculpture, lacquer ware, paintings and other craft. Open Thursday to Monday from 10am - 4pm. Open every day on Queensland School holidays.
