EXPLORATORY WORK ON LABOR POLICY RESPONSES TO THE COVID-19 CRISIS Interventions that will support firms and workers to transition out of the COVID-19 pandemic will necessitate measures incentivizing workers to migrate toward sectors with the highest labor demand, including measures that encourage firms to maintain their workforce and to recruit new hires. The project performs preparatory work to identify potential policy responses that the Moroccan Ministry of Labor and Professional Insertion (MLPI) and its implementing agency, ANAPEC, can launch to help workers reintegrate into the labor market as the economy starts to recover. Conducting preliminary data analysis and qualitative interviews to better understand the key policy problems that existing programs are trying to address, as well as how the programs are currently functioning in practice will allow us to work with the MLPI and ANAPEC to develop and implement experimental interventions that can be tested to better understand what will work best in aiding the recovery and help the programs achieve their stated goals. By conducting this preparatory work that will lead to the implementation of evaluations, the analysis will help the MLIP and the ANAPEC evaluate and compare the effectiveness of different responses to the current crisis.  Rema Hanna Bruno Crepon Florencia Devoto Louise Paul-Delvaux PRINCIPALE INVESTIGATORS POLICY COUNTERPARTS ABSTRACT ANTICIPATED POLICY IMPACT Ministry of Labor and Professional Insertion (MLPI) ANAPEC This project performs preparatory work to identify potential policy responses that the MLPI and its implementing agency, ANAPEC, can launch to help workers reintegrate into the labor market as the economy starts to recover.

EXPLORATORY WORK ON LABOR POLICY RESPONSES TO THE COVID-19 CRISIS

Interventions that will support firms and workers to transition out of the COVID-19 pandemic will necessitate  measures incentivizing workers to migrate toward sectors with the highest labor demand,  including measures that encourage firms to maintain their workforce and to recruit new hires.

By conducting this preparatory work that will lead to the implementation of evaluations, the analysis will help the MLIP and the ANAPEC evaluate and compare the eectiveness of dierent  responses to the current crisis.
