Retrofit New build

The plug and play features provide for safe mounting, maintenance and demounting, while the adjustable bracket allows for multiple arrangements on all types of heads and crowns.

All our luminaires are supplied with an IP68 quick plug, avoiding the need for rewiring the lighting system.

Gatwick Airport has achieved over 50% of energy savings by switching from traditional sodium projectors to Midstream LEDs.

Glasgow AirportGlasgow Airport was keen to upgrade their apron lighting to LED before the start of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in the city of Glasgow, Scotland.

The airport utilized 236 apron floodlights with a mixture of 400W HPS and 1,000w HPS projectors. The Midstream solutions replaced these with 164 LED projectors, each being 400w.

The project achieved energy savings of 61% with a 100% increase in light levels.

Gatwick AirportGatwick Airport is the busiest single runway airport in the world, and as such has been pursuing a program of stand reconfiguration and pier extensions to improve the number of aircraft movements, which involves upgrading the stand lighting to LEDs to achieve energy efficiency and improved lighting uniformity values.

Midstream is the preferred supplier to Gatwick Airport for LED apron floodlighting since 2013.

Glasgow Airport finished the complete upgrade program in 3 months, achieving a saving of 106 kW and doubling light levels.

The new apron lighting required a high level of uniformity and colour rendering

London Luton AirportLondon Luton Airport ran a tender in 2017 for the replacement of apron lighting with LED technology, improving the light levels to meet the requirements of EASA regulation and reducing the energy demand by 40-50%.

Midstream was selected as the technology supplier to provide the lighting design and supply the luminaires. The scheme involved the use of 455W and 705W asymmetric luminaires from the Titan series on existing high-mast infrastructure.

Quito International AirportQuito International Airport is the main airport in Ecuador. The local civil aviation authority requested that the uniformity levels be increased to a ratio of 2:1, which is double the ICAO Annex 14 requirements.

The airport ran a tender for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of a new floodlighting system based on LED technology and meeting stringent new lighting levels requirements. Midstream was awarded the tender for the entire package, including certain civil engineering works which were outsourced to a local contractor.

ProjectsNewcastle International AirportNewcastle International Airport was an early adoptor of LED technology for the landside parking and indoor terminal lighting. However, when additional energy savings were sought, Midstream was asked to design and implement a lighting scheme in compliance with CAP 168 requirements. These are in line with the ICAO Annex 14 requirements.

The installation achieved a high degree of uniformity and much improved lighting levels on the apron. High color rendering index and cool white light significantly improved visibility for the ground staff and pilots.

Rome Fiumicino AirportMidstream was successful in a tender to supply new LED apron floodlighting at Rome Fiumicino Airport.

Under the first phase, Midstream’s floodlights were used on around 100 new and existing 100 foot poles. Subsequent packages have meant that most of the airside LED floodlights are delivered by Midstream.

These smart floodlights are DALI enabled, meaning they easily integrate into existing control software.

ProjectsPort of TyneMidstream acted as main contractor to design, deliver, install and commission a new lighting scheme at the Port of Tyne, including two new 100ft high poles and refurbishment of a 120ft high pole under a turn-key contract. Midstream selected a reputable pole manufacturer and civils contractor to deliver the works against a lighting scheme design specified by the port to be 6 f.c.

Intermodal Terminal of TriesteIntermodal terminals operate on a 24/7 basis and lighting is a critical component for operations, security, health and safety and CCTV monitoring.Midstream was awarded the contract to upgrade the poor and costly lighting to LED technology across the 125ft poles. The new lighting scheme delivered energy savings in excess of 70%. Additionally, the refraction based optic systems allowed minimisation of upward light, ensuring that neighbouring areas were not disturbed by the terminal’s lighting.

Optic lenses allow the light to be aimed precisely in the target area and avoid light pollution.

Industrial Logistics CentreThe fuel storage facility operated by ASIG at Gatwick Airport was looking to improve visibility for the operators and drivers at the same time as reducing costs associated with the energy and maintenance of the conventional sodium system.

Midstream provided a solution using the single module Titan 160 LED projector reducing the site energy consumption by more than 60% and greatly increasing light levels and uniformity.

Network Rail has more than doubled the light levels at a train depot

Ramsgate Railway DepotRamsgate Maintenance Depot needed to upgrade the lighting system which had become obsolete.

Network Rail decided to use LED technology on the existing large area lighting masts and poles.

Midstream was chosen to act as main contractor to design, supply, install and commission the new system.

Midstream was able to deliver a project which reduced energy consumption by 50% and double the light levels.

ProjectsPort of Virginia, VA The Port of Virginia in Norfolk, VA was undergoing a major terminal expansion. Midstream’s unique optics allowed to reduce the quantity of 120 ft lighting poles to 38, thereby significantly reducing construction cost of the project.

Midstream supplied 380 x 990W LED floodlights to deliver a 2fc level with a high degree of uniformity across the total territory of the new terminal.
