Color : Available in Concrete Gray. Custom colors are also available upon request. Storage & Shelf Life: 12 month shelf life when stored in unopened containers in dry conditions. Store between 41°F (5°C) and 77°F (25°C). Installation & Coverage: See Manufacturer’s Printed In-stallation Instructions (MPII) available in this Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and online at www.atcepoxy.com. Due to occasional updates and revisions, always verify that you are using the most current version of the MPII. In order to achieve maximum results, proper installation is imperative. Chemical Resistance: Prior to application, test all chemi-cals and cleaning agents under exposure conditions. CRACK-BOND EJ-SL has good chemical resistance to water, aliphatic solvents, mineral oils, grease, diluted inorganic acids and alka-lis. Avoid contact with aromatic solvents, concentrated acids and chlorinated hydrocarbons. Clean Up: Always wear appropriate protective equipment such as safety glasses and gloves during cleanup. Clean un-cured materials from tools and equipment with mild solvents. Cured material can only be removed mechanically. Limitations & Warnings:
Should not be used as a structural or glazing sealant May be painted, however, compatibility tests are recom-
mended Not to be used for continuous immersion applications Do not apply to freshly chemical treated wood (allow treated
wood to age 6 months) Low temperatures and low humidity will extend cure time
Not recommended for adhesion to
When applying to concrete which is not fully cured (green), all release agents must be removed and the bonding surface must be dry
Use on natural stone such as marble or granite may cause staining (tape edges to help prevent staining)
Safety: Please refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for CRACKBOND EJ-SL published on our website or call ATC for more information at 1-800-892-1880. In-Service Temperature Range: CRACKBOND EJ-SL will perform in temperatures from - 40°F to 200°F (-40°C to 93°C).
CRACKBOND® EJ-SL is a one-component, moisture curing, professional grade, elastomeric, polyether expansion joint sealant. It has excellent bond strength to most porous and non-porous substrates without the use of a primer. CRACK-BOND EJ-SL is self-leveling for use on horizontal surfaces and can be used in temperatures between 40°F to 95°F (4°C to 35°C).

Joint Preparation
Expansion Joints: Joint must be clean and “surface dry” and also be free of dust and grease and free of chipping paint. All dust must be removed using pressurized moisture-free air or vacuum. Minimum width: 1/4" (6.4 mm); Maximum width: 1 3/16" (30 mm); Minimum depth: 1/4" (6.4 mm) Joint should be twice as wide as it is deep (2 x depth = width). DO NOT bond joint material to the bottom of the joint. Use backer rod to control depth and maximize elongation. Moving Cracks: Crack must be clean, have a dry surface, be free of dust and grease, and free of chipping paint. For best results, route crack with a dry diamond blade. All dust must be removed using pressurized moisture-free air or vacuum. Minimum width: 1/4" (6.4 mm); Maximum width: 1 3/16" (30 mm); Minimum depth: 1/4" (6.4 mm). DO NOT bond joint material to the bottom of the crack. Use sand at the bottom of the crack to control depth and maximize elongation.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (MPII)
Installation Environment
Best results are obtained if the product, substrate and ambient air temperatures range from 40ºF to 95ºF (4 to 35°C). CRACKBOND EJ-SL is a moisture cure polyether chemistry and cures through the interaction with atmospheric mois-ture. Humidity must be a minimum of 35% RH for atmospheric curing conditions. In low humidity environments, the installed product can be misted with water to facilitate cure. CRACKBOND EJ-SL will not foam in the presence of wa-ter. For best adhesion it is recommended that the joint area be “surface dry.”
Installation Guidelines
Joint design is critical to the successful performance of the joint sealant. Joint movement can be a function of temperature changes, moisture movement, vibration and the composition of the substrate materials themselves. ASTM C1472 Standard Guide for Calculating Movement and Other Effects When Establishing Sealant Joint Width, is used by the Construction Specifier when designing joints. When installing CRACKBOND EJ-SL refer to project specification and comply with the product performance guidelines:
Joint Width: 1/4” minimum 1 3/16” maximum Joint Depth: 1/4” minimum 5/8” maximum (Horizontal moving joints require 1/2 depth to width)
NOTE: Do not bond CRACKBOND EJ-SL to the base of a crack or joint. Full flexibility is compromised if the base is restricted. Use backer rod to control the depth of the joint. CRACKBOND EJ-SL is a self-leveling, joint material to be applied on horizontal surfaces. Finished joints do not need to be tooled. Fill joints to approximately 1/8 inch below the surface to allow for joint compression.
Coverage
CRACKBOND EJ-SL is supplied in easy to use single component 10.1 oz. cartridges, 29 oz. cartridges and 20 oz. sausages. Utilize ATC TM9HD, TM29HD and TM20HD high performance dispensing guns, respective-ly. Coverage will be dependent upon joint width and corresponding depth. Table 3 is a reference guide to assist in determining material requirements when estimating a project. Always overcompensate for product waste and joint size variability.
