HAWAI`I CALIFORNIA

Riverside CountyWith almost 300 days of sunshine a year, Riverside County was eager to take advantage of their prime real estate for renewable power. In 2014, OpTerra and the County partnered to install a total of 12 MW of solar - the largest countywide conversion to solar ever launched in the U.S.

Hawai`i Department of EducationIn 2013, the Hawai`i Department of Education and OpTerra launched Ka Hei, a sustainability program integrating innovative energy technology with meaningful learning experiences. Program highlights include 9.3 MW of solar PV installations to date, energy efficiency upgrades, and educational opportunities across all schools.

Antelope Valley-East Kern Water AgencyWith Antelope Valley’s recent population growth during a time of crippling drought in California, major stress has been placed on the regional water systems. In partnership with OpTerra, this Southern California water agency will install 5.5 MW of solar power, retrofit LED lighting, and modernize HVAC.

• Expected to achieve nearly $81MM in net savings over the life of the program

• Utilizes the RES-BCT program which allows the Agency to export energy to the grid and receive generation credits for their other benefiting accounts

• Expected to yield $200MM in taxpayer savings over the next 30 years

• Expected to achieve $3MM in gross savings from PV systems annually

• Modernized HVAC equipment across Agency facilities reduces maintenance while improving indoor comfort for staff

• Expected to create over 1,000 jobs over the next 30 years and uses 80% local labor

• Engaged thousands of students across 184 schools • Trained 511 teachers and held 28 professional

development sessions

• Offsets carbon emissions equivalent to removing 1,958 cars from highways annually

• Offsets 385,000 metric tons of CO2, the equivalent to removing more than 81,000 cars from the road for one year

• Makes huge strides in helping the Board of Education achieve 90% clean energy across DOE facilities by 2040

• Accelerates State goal to produce 100% clean electricity by 2045

City of San JoséOpTerra and San José worked together to couple LED technology with communication control systems, making it the first U.S. city to install smart, energy efficient streetlights city-wide. More than 18,100+ smart streetlights can be monitored and programmed to dim for greater energy savings.

Colorado Capitol ComplexOver four phases of work together spanning 10 years, OpTerra helped modernize the State of Colorado’s Capitol Complex building facilities. The upgrades range from lighting, to a geothermal heat exchange system, to water conservation improvements.

City of AustinStarting in 2007, OpTerra helped the City of Austin generate energy savings by creating new pathways towards sustainability that include water conservation across city parks and a biogas-fueled cogeneration unit at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

• Expected to save $30MM from streetlight upgrades over the program life

• Saved more than $8MM in utility costs to date • Saves over $700,000 annually in energy costs• Created new revenue stream through net metering

agreement to sell excess power to Austin Energy

• Enhances driver safety with LEDs that improve nighttime visibility with a more natural white light than conventional LPS and HPS streetlights

• Preserves the night sky in late evenings for astronomical research at the local observatory

• Preserved the integrity of historic landmarks constructed in the late 1800s and early 1900s, while transforming them into highly energy efficient public buildings

• Improved energy efficiency at a facility which houses the City’s first responders including the Fire and Police Department and Emergency Medical Services, resulting in better performance and reliability of these essential city services

• Cuts down on the City’s use of hazardous material such as mercury found in the legacy streetlights

• Helps advance San José’s goal to become a zero waste city

• Became the first LEED-certified state capitol in the U.S. and the first facility to receive the LEED for Existing Buildings certification

• Meets 100% of its electricity use through green power purchases

• Received the Green Power Leadership Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 2012
