Assessment 1.6

Worksheet 2.1: Identifying with Gardner’s TheoryType of

IntelligenceRecall a recent successful learning experience in which you combined at least

three of these types of intelligence:Moved to Mexico to teach English and learn Spanish

Logical-Mathematical

I had to see patterns and recognize cognates from both language, and also had to think grammatically and academically at all times for my students.

Linguistic While living there I taught English; re-evaluating my own language and learned Spanish without any formal classes. Only through daily life did I learn it. Becoming much more aware of language and the power it holds.

Spatial-Visual I had to visualize words in my head while teaching and learning EnglishBodily-Kinesthetic I used my body language to stress what I was saying and keep my students

interested in what I was saying.

Page 5: EXP105 Ch1-5 Worksheets

Musical Sometime I would apply tones to each sound of English language to help my students remember it like a scale. Each different note is also a different sound with the mouth.

Interpersonal I had to feel where my class was at and how they were feeling about the lesson in order to help strengthen any lack of understanding.

Intrapersonal I was very aware of the process of language acquisition in the moment for me. It was very interesting to watch.

Type of Intelligence

Think about your preferred learning patterns. Which intelligence type are you most aware of as you learn? Which are you least aware of?

Logical-Mathematical

I do not think in a linear logical way, but rather in an abstract-linear way. I utilize the theories given from logical thinking and apply them to a more abstract thinking in order to see the whole picture and better understand. I do think logically, I see patterns, I reason very well. I just do it in a non-linear way.

Linguistic I have become more of a linguist over the years since I began writing and studying topics of interest like yoga. Now, after teaching English and learning Spanish, and really watching language acquisition, I am much more linguistic than ever before .I love to manipulate words and really work on saying something perfectly. Right now in writing not so much in speech, but it is coming along.

Spatial-Visual As a dancer I am very good at visualizing what it is I need to be doing with my body. I always visualize things in my head and am able to solve problems using this intelligence. If I can picture it, I can solve it, or do it.

Bodily-Kinesthetic Dancer, mover, shaker. My whole life has been spent sharpening the relationship between mind and body. The mind is definitely going through a update, and my body should follow right along with it.

Musical I needed to develop my tone and rhythm. I like to tap, but have never been good at finding my own rhythm. I am more of a see and repeat person.

Interpersonal I am not good at reading people. I am getting better because I have started to listen to my intuition, but I still never really think about it. I just interact and connect with them and then move on my way.

Intrapersonal I am very connected to myself and how I feel. I am always aware of what is going on inside me through meditation, yoga, dance, and friends.

Assessment 2.1

Worksheet 3.1: Skills for Studying and Learning OnlineSkill Importance I need to

improveOvercoming aloneness Since the verbal and non-verbal signals that stimulate activity in

the traditional classroom are not present, you need to demonstrate confidence and readiness for online activity.

I have always been alone, I need to work on inclusion.

Page 6: EXP105 Ch1-5 Worksheets

Initiating interaction Go ahead, begin! Remember, in the online learning environment

everyone has a voice. I need to do this more in daily life connection

Developing technological skill

Technological know-how is essential; build competence in the instructional platform as rapidly as possible; add skills as you go; use available technical support resources; keep a hard copy of important work.

Got it, would like to work on editing tech

Using Web resources Don’t get sidetracked, but use the Internet to explore and locate rich information resources related to course topics and assignment. Be an inquiring learner. Find out how to document material you gather from the Web, properly citing your sources.

Porn?

Practicing persistence Anxiety and frustration most commonly occur in online learning situations when there are “gaps” in communication, or when communication is not clear. You shouldn’t guess at what is intended, but be direct—and persistent—until you get a clear answer every time vagueness exists.

My writing is clear, I don’t know how others vagueness is my problem

Participating honestly and gracioiusly

It’s important to remember the human aspectis of Cyberspace. Your interactions are with other human beings who value respect and honesty, even as you do. Web etiquette (often called “Netiquette“) emphasizes these basic conventions: respect others’ points of view and privacy; avoid derogatory comments; be time-zone and culturally conscious; refrain from “flaming”—i.e. control your emotions. Be honest and willling to share knowledge and experiences.

What is flaming? Follow yamas and niyamas for sure

Meeting deadlines Self discipline is the key to meeting deadlines, and an

irreplacable habit if online learning is to be satisfying and successful.

Got it

Enjoying relaxation Find the Internet Lounge on your university’s instructional platform and engage in open dialog with other students. These informal exchanges are vital sources of information and personal encouragement!

I used this last week.
