Before the fuels pricing process starts, some prerequisites have to be considered. At the oil company, service station data is maintained in location master records. Specific data that relates to pricing maintenance includes: definition of the location cluster that the station belongs to (optional, materialprice differences group, service type differences group, and competitors. !n addition, price differences between materials, service types, competitors, and locations are maintained. Standard pricing and networ" pricing are also maintained at the oil company. #sing intermediate documents (!$ocs or the SS% Store, service stations send actual prices (which are transmitted with the regular meter readings and competitors& fuel prices to the %'( System. The information may first be integrated into a separate system at the oil company and then sent to the %'(System, or the individual stations may send data directly to the %'( System. )or those locations that are not electronically lin"ed to head office, these prices can be entered into %'( manually. *rice chec"s compare the inbound actual prices with the target prices in %'(, to see if they are the same or if they fall within the defined acceptable tolerance. +ompetitor prices are uploaded to the pricing table and are used as the basis for price proposals. Twodimensional pricing proposals based on the user&s entries are then made. The user can copy and save the proposals, which then become target prices. )inally, the new target prices are sent to the service stations& *,S system using !$ocs.
