WORkShOPAdult learning Principles: What Do People DO in the Sessions you Fund, What Does it Mean “To Teach” and “To learn”

This workshop takes attendees through real-world applications of the two definitions of learning and teaching, to (1) help physicians and others recognize learning needs they have, (2) gain the skills, knowledge, and experience they need to resolve the problems they face and (3) incorporate newly learned skills, knowledge, and experience into their practice repertoires. The nature of the concepts and principless presented and the experiences attendees will have as they work with them will allow participants to know what THEIR learners will think and feel as they (the participants) use the concepts and principles in working with others.

This workshop provides the tools for attendees to know what their learners are experiencing and thinking and thoroughly examines:

• Deconstructing definitions of learning and teaching grounded in educational theory and applying theory to planning, implementing and evaluating instructional activities for healthcare providers

• Applying definitions in approaching and resolving problems that arise from an examination of their self-reported needs
