Existalite ZT 5-pole self-contained emergencylighting conversion module
Existalite ZT : a range of low profile conversionmodules with highly efficient DC-AC inverter
circuits, specifically developed to operate self-contained fluorescent lamps, at optimum
battery voltages, in emergency mode.
Compatible with all known high frequency ballast types allowing operation with 4-Pin
fluorescent lamps from 4 to 125 W, including most louvre and diffuser luminaires.
Available as either conversion module and battery for integration into existing mains
fluorescent lamps, or fully assembled remote conversion kit for installations where
space or temperature restrictions make integral conversions impossible.

Remote enclosures
Remote conversion kits are available for use where luminaire internal temperatures are too high,or luminaires have insufficient internal room for the conversion module and battery.
Kits comprise all necessary components: geartray, battery and cable loom. IP20 remoteenclosures are available as standard, with IP54 rated kits to special order (contact Thomas & Bettsto discuss particular requirements).

Product selection
Existalite ZT conversion equipmentcan be ordered as separate individualcomponents or complete kits,dependent on your specific projectrequirements.
To establish your full requirement, use the correct module prefix from the BLF chart, then determine:
Supply preference: module andbatteries as separates, integralmodule kit or fully assembledremote kit
Battery configuration for integral conversions: 'stick' or 'side by side' battery
Testing requirement: standard (manual testing), or Self-Test functionality
The final product order code canthen be established from the producttable, right.

Conversion notes1. All emergency lighting conversions should be
undertaken in accordance with relevant national requirements and codes of practice,including ICEL 1004.
2. Converted luminaires should comply with EMC and Low Voltage Directives in order to carry the CE mark.
3. When remote mounting, the connecting cable between the lamp and the module/battery should not exceed 1 m.

Batteries
Existalite ZT conversion modules can besupplied with advanced hightemperature Nickel Cadmium (NiCad)batteries which, when properly installedin compliance with the EN 60598-2-22product standard, are designed to give aminimum of 4 years service life.
Batteries are available in a range ofconfigurations for best fit to availablespace within the luminaire.
Side by side battery sticks of the samesize (e.g. 2 x 2 cell, 2 x 3 cell etc.) can beslotted together by the end caps,permitting batteries to be fixed usingonly 2 screws.

Module ballast lumenfactor (% of normal lamp output lumens)
The chart shown right establishes the ballast lumen factor (BLF) ofExistalite ZT conversion modules and remote kits.
A wide range of modules isavailable, to ensure optimumstarting and operation of the various fluorescent lamp types and wattages available, for bestlong-term lamp performance.
The required number of battery cellsfor each lamp is also shown.
To select the correct module, crossreference the lamp type to beconverted with the relevant modulecode prefix to achieve the stated BLF(e.g. a ZT3EA module prefix convertsan 8 W T5 lamp to emergency use,with 3 hour duration and providinga BLF of 22%).
Once the module prefix isestablished, your full orderrequirement (either as separates orkits) can be determined using theproduct selection table, shown overthe page.
Note:BLF figures for remote kits are the sameas integral modules, except where ahigher rated kit is required in remoteform (signified by # in the chart - i.e. a 26 W TC-TEL lamp requires a remotekit with greater battery power than theequivalent integral module).
