Renovation, Repair & Painting Program (RRP) This RRP class is a must-have to protect you, your employees and the customer.Presenter Karl Environmental ~ As a contractor, you play a critical role in helping to prevent lead exposure.  Ordinary renovation and maintenance activities including remodeling, repair, maintenance electrical, plumbing paint preparation, carpentry and window replacement can create toxic lead dust that can harm your customers, workers and even yourself.  By following lead-safe work practices, you can prevent lead hazards.The Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule establishes requirements for firms and individuals performing renovation and affects contractors, property managers and others who disturb painted surfaces.  It applies to work in houses, apartments and child-occupied facilities (such as schools and daycare centers) built before 1978.  It includes pre-renovation education requirements as well as training, firm certification and work practice requirements.The EPA has the power to enforce fines and criminal prosecuting for those firms and individuals violating the RRP rule.  Those committing willful violation of the rule may be fined up to $37,500 per violation and/or risk imprisonment.
