SWEEPSTAKES AWARDS Sweepstakes awards are presented to an exhibitor with the highest number of awarded points within designated departments. Points will be assigned based upon received ribbon placing,

1st = Spts, 2nd = 3pts and 3rd = 1pt.

CREDENTIALS/PASSES ADMISSION & PARKING

Exhibitors, Parents, and Leaders: Livestock area parking pass and standard parking pass to be issued on Wednesday, June 24th (note: a parking pass does not grant access to the fair). Each llvestock exhibitor wlll be given two (2) free entry passes to be used on show days only. Additional Fair Entry Passes for livestock exhibitor family members will be available at $2 each during check-in on Wednesday. As an exhibitor you will be given and are required to wear a identifying Placer County Fair wristband. Still exhibitors will be given 1 entry pass per exhibitor to come back during fair.

Livestock Credentials will be available Wednesday, June 24th from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Entry Office (Caboose).

Still Exhibitor Credentials will be available to pick up during the receiving dates and times.

ENTRY INFORMATION Entry Deadlines: Friday, May 22nd at 5pm

NOTICE: All entries will be accepted in the administration office or via the Placer County Fair online entry system until Friday, May 22nd at Spm. Livestock entries and questions can be directed to the Livestock Office, at the Caboose, from June 25-28, 2015.

GENERAL INFORMATION •Damage and Insurance: The Fair Association shall not be

responsible for accidents or loss that may occur to any of the exhibitors or exhibits at a show.

•Awards: If entering online, then the electronic signature will be accepted, otherwise, signature must be on the entry form.

•Ribbon Placement: Placement of ribbons does not guarantee correct placing in judging. Only the official placing on the judging sheet constitutes the final placement.

•Errors in Premium Payment: Errors will not be corrected unless applied for prior to September 1, 2015.

•Judging: Judging will not be held in any class for late exhibitors.

•Still Exhibit Release: Exhibits may be claimed on Monday, June 29th from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Entries and exhibits not claimed by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 2nd will be disposed of at the Fair's discretion.

ADULT AND YOUTH PREMIER EXHIBITORS 2015

The Premier Exhibitor Award will be presented to the adult and youth exhibitor with the highest number of placings throughout the Placer County Fair entry

department. All departments are eligible for the Premier Exhibitor Award. Winners will be presented with a special award at the conclusion of the show.

Fair Exhibit Information

STEP 1: ONLINE ENTRY ONLY To begin your registration processes please select "Sign In" along the top right side of the screen and select from the following:

• Exhibitor Registration: All exhibitors entering as an individual.

• Team Formation: Team/Family exhibits, primarily used by Teachers or 4H/FFA. Leaders containing team member information.

• Quick Group: Group exhibits not containing team information.

Once you have selected one of the above choices you must choose if you are:

1. "I am a new exhibitor/group" - ALL EXHIBITORS entering the Placer County Fair MUST choose this option to SIABL.

2. "I have previously registered" - You may only use this option to view your cart once you have registered .

STEP 2: After completing the registration process you will be asked to begin creating your entries. Please refer to the Competition Handbook for all competition rules and regulations, as well as specific division Information along the left hand side of your entry screen.

Enter by completing the following:

1. Choose your Department I.e. Clothing & Textiles

2. Choose the Division, I.e. Division 207 - Crocheted

3. Choose the Class, I.e. Class 3 - Dolly, under 12"

4. Add Entry to Cart

5. Continue steps 1-4 until all Items have been entered.

6. Continue to Review

STEP 3 REVIEW OF CART: Confirm that all Items have been entered Into Cart and Cilek "Check Out"

STEP 4 PAYMENT: Choose "Pay Now" If you wish to pay with a credit card or "Pay Later" If you plan on malling or bringing payment Into the fair office prior to the entry deadline. Please attach printed out receipt with payment If choosing the "Pay Later" option.

STEP 5 CONFIRMATION: Confirm Payment/Terms and Conditions

STEP 6 FINISH: Finalize and Print Receipt - please keep for your records. All 6 Steps MUST be completed to receive a copy of your entries.

ENTRY FORM METHOD How Can I Enter?

At the beginning of each department is information relative to that competition. This information includes eligibility requirements, entry deadline, delivery and pick up information and judging schedule. It is also important that you read the Local Rules located at the beginning of the Handbook.

What Is the Entry Deadline?

Entry Forms and fees must be received by the Fair Office before 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015. It is very important that you check the entry deadline in each department as not all have the same entry deadline.

What Is Required of Youth and Teen Exhibitors?

Youth exhibitors entering independently (not through a school or organization) must list age and have a parent/ guardian's signature. Students enrolled in a school or organization project class must list the school and have the instructor/teacher's signature as well as the parent/ guardian's signature.

Do I mall or Bring In My Entry Form and Fees?

You are encouraged to enter online. You also are able to mail the entry forms and fees, but you will not receive a return receipt. Forms and fees may be mailed immediately following the issuance of this Exhibitor Handbook. Hand delivered forms will be accepted in the Administration Office during normal business hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday). No forms or fees will be accepted after 5:00 p.m. on the entry deadline date. Mailed forms must be postmarked on or before the deadline date. POSTMARKS ARE ACCEPTED. No entry will be accepted with a postmark later than Friday, May 22, 2015 (Except Floriculture, Horticulture or where otherwise noted).

Entry Requirements

This handbook is produced in advance and is subject to any action that may cause revision or curtailment of classes, divisions, sections awards, premiums, or regulations as listed. For Additional Junior Exhibit Information, Refer to Junior Division Rules and Junior Livestock Auction Rules

1. Use a separate entry form for each department (i.e. baked goods, clothing, and floriculture). Entries must be on official Placer County Fair Entry Form or entries will not be accepted.

2. All information on the entry form requested by the Fair must be complete. It is the exhibitor's responsibility to make corrections on entry forms and return before the entry deadline.

3. Entry Deadlines are as follows: Friday, May 22, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. for:

• All Senior Divisions except Agriculture/ Horticulture, Arrangements and Cut Flowers Divisions

• All FFA and 4-H Divisions • All Junior Divisions except Agriculture/

Horticulture and Arrangements Monday, June 8, 2015, at noon for:

• Senior Agriculture/Horticulture and Senior Arrangement

• Junior Agriculture/Horticulture and Junior Arrangements

4. Exhibitors, leaders and advisors must be in good standing with the local and state organization{s) (4-H, FFA, Grange) to be eligible to exhibit at the Fair.

5. NOTICE: Entries in 4-H, FFA and Grange divisions are restricted to residents of Placer County. Exhibitors whose club or chapter is in Placer County but who do not reside in Placer County must submit a letter requesting a waiver from this requirement to Placer County Fair Management. The letter should explain the exhibitor's reason for enrollment in an organization outside of their county of residency. In the case of livestock projects, the letter must also state the exhibitor's guarantee that they intend to sell market animals at Placer County and/or Gold Country Fairs exclusively (the only exception is to sell a market animal at Junior Grand National or California State Fair).

6. In order to be eligible to show and/or sell an animal at the Placer County Fair 4-H members must have been enrolled in 4-H by November 30th, 2014.

7. Fair Management reserves the right to close the entries when all available space has been filled or to limit entries according to space available and to eliminate/combine classes or divisions if insufficient entries are received. If a division or class is eliminated all entry fees will be refunded.

8. If the owner or co-owner of livestock or other exhibits used or housed outside Placer County is a bonafied resident of Placer County, then such livestock or other exhibits in which they have a financial interest shall be eligible for entry in the local class. Evidence of residence may be required.

9. To assure a balanced show, the first two exhibitors with five head or more from each division will have priority for space. Additional entries will be accepted as received. Entries will be returned when space is filled.

10. By making entry in the Placer County Fair exhibits/ livestock programs, the Exhibitor, a parent or both parent{s)/legal guardian(s) and project leader/supervisor agree to abide by all rules as presented in the Exhibitor Handbook.

11. All 4-H Leaders, 4-H Exhibitors, FFA Advisors, FFA Exhibitors and Independent Exhibitors must have completed the large and or small animal mandatory Quality Assurance/Ethics Training! Entry forms will not be accepted if training was not completed.

12. Exhibitors that arrive after official arrival time as scheduled in this Exhibitor Handbook must call and notify the Fair of their late arrival and will be subject to the following:

1. Some or all entries may not be allowed to show.

2. Pens or ties may not be available.

3. A penalty of up to $50 per exhibitor may be assessed and must be paid prior to judging.

4. A charge for veterinary fees for health examinations may be assessed to each exhibitor.

13. No animal may be entered in more than one division in the Livestock Department unless provided for in the specifications of the division. Animals may not be transferred from one division to another unless Fair management determines a need.

14. All requests for refunds must be received by Thursday, July 2, 2015. Refunds may be granted upon approval of Fair Management.

15. ENTRY DEADLINES 1. Livestock and Still Exhibits:

May 22, 2015 by 5:00 p.m.

2. Junior & Senior Agriculture/Horticulture and Junior & Senior Arrangements (unless otherwise stated in the division guide)- June 8, 2015 & Cut Flowers - June 25, 2015.

16. No entry will be accepted when an exhibitor prescribes conditions under which he or she will exhibit.

17. It is the policy of the Fair that all classes which require registration papers are closed to range bulls.

18. NOTICE - All livestock exhibitors are required to have original registration papers checked by fair officials by 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 for Junior Exhibitors.

Entry Requirements

FFA ORGANIZATION The FFA is a national organization of students enrolled in high school vocational agriculture classes. The local unit is the chapter in each high school offering vocational agriculture, under the supervision of the agriculture teacher who is always the chapter advisor. The State unit includes all chapters in the State, under the supervision of the State Department of Education as represented by the Bureau of Agricultural Education with its headquarters at the State Education Building, Sacramento, California.

The national unit is the group of associations in each state and Puerto Rico, under the supervision of the Agricultural Education Division of the U.S. Office of Health, Education and Welfare, Washington, DC. (Every FFA project in livestock, poultry, fruit or crops is a part of the practical education of the vocational agriculture student who owns it.)

The program includes the improvements of agriculture, leading ultimately to the ownership of the agriculture enterprises and the development of good citizenship. Participation in fairs and livestock shows is recognized as having educational value as well as stimulation for better results and finer projects, under supervision of the qualified chapter advisor and with the cooperation of the Fair Management.

4-HYOUTH 4-H Youth programs are non-formal, voluntary educational programs, open to all youth, without regard to race, color or creed, not connected with the public school system, under the supervision of the Cooperative Extension Service of the University of California and United States Department of Agriculture. They are a part of Extension teaching.

The projects exhibited at Fairs by members of these groups are the result of their efforts under the supervision of volunteer adults. The Primary Member projects are designed to teach proper care and understanding of animals and are not intended to involve competition and animal exhibition as part of the 4-H project.

4-H DIVISION DEFINITIONS PRIMARY MEMBERS: K thru 3rd grades JUNIOR MEMBERS: 9 years old by December 31, 2014 INTERMEDIATE MEMBERS: 7th thru 8th grades SENIOR MEMBERs: 9th grade and above, Cannot have turned 19 prior to January 1, 2015

LOCAL RULES

1. County, District, and State Fairs cannot legally carry liability insurance covering junior exhibitors and/or their exhibits. Obtaining liability insurance is the responsibility of the junior exhibitor.

2. By the signature on the entry form, each exhibitor agrees to have his or her animals, pens, stall and barn area cleaned and in show condition twice daily, by 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day of the Fair. Aisles, pathways, and approaches must be clean at all times. In addition to the above, it is required that every livestock exhibitor personally care for his or her animals once each day. There will be no exceptions. Periodic stall checks will be made. Failure to comply will cause the forfeit of premiums and exhibit privileges to the exhibitor. Premiums will be forfeited and sale animals will not sell in the event that animals are left unfed or un-watered or the aisles and pens are not cleaned by the scheduled times of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. during the days that the animals are housed on the Placer County Fairgrounds.

3. To ensure the safety of exhibitors, livestock and fair goers, no dogs are allowed on the fairgrounds - except those used as guide dogs for the disabled or entered in the dog show (one hour prior to and one hour after the dog show, only).

4. Any foul and/or abusive language, and /or physical abuse used toward any Fair Personnel, Weigh master, Sale Committee Member, Judge, Animal, etc., by an exhibitor and/or their parent may result in immediate expulsion from the fairgrounds for the duration of the fair and forfeiture of any awards, premium money and/or participation eligibility at future Placer County Fairs.

5. Exhibitors, leaders, advisors and parents found in violation of rules or in practices unethical or inimical with the fair program shall be penalized by forfeiture of awards and/or privileges as may be deemed appropriate to the circumstances. Management shall report any such incidences to the Division of Fairs and Expositions in writing and such reports may become the basis for any other fair to refuse entries.

6. Stalling & Bedding - First bedding will not be furnished by the Fair. All pens will be assigned by Fair management. Space may not be traded without approval of the livestock or specie superintendent. No altering of pens or stalls is allowed without similar approval. All matters pertaining to stabling, bedding, etc., will be the responsibility of the livestock superintendent.

7. Management reserves the right to interpret the rules and regulations and to settle questions of difference.

8. A livestock exhibitor will be disqualified from the show ring, if in the judge's or management's opinion, his or her attire is inappropriate or unclean.

9. Any junior exhibitor staying in a camper facility on the Fairgrounds must be under the direct control and supervision of a responsible adult. Note: Anyone who had not made prior reservations will not be permitted to stay on the Fairgrounds.

Entry Requirements

10. The rules and regulations prescribed for the Junior Department have been formulated with the cooperation and approval of state leaders of junior groups. Rules applying to the Senior Department also apply to the Junior Department.

11. Representatives and leaders of the junior groups should consult with Fair Management in preparing the Exhibitor Handbook for the Junior Department. The divisions and classes to be included in the Exhibitor Handbook should be selected so as to provide the maximum of competition in order that the greatest benefits of the program of education by comparison with established standards may be achieved.

12. An exhibitor whose only animal fails to make weight limit may show that animal in showmanship classes.

13. Junior exhibitors are required to conform to written State and Local Rules and/or instructions. Failure to comply with the rules, or damage to Fair and/or other exhibitors' property will result in loss of premium awards and expulsion from the Fairgrounds. There is a bulletin board located by the Entry Department Office. PLEASE CHECK IT AT LEAST ONCE A DAY FOR NEWS AND INFORMATION!

14. No automatic waterers will be installed by exhibitors. Individual cylinder non-pressurized (two gallon capacity) LICKETS may be used.

15. All cooler fans and other appliances must be equipped with a 3-wire ground. State Fire Marshal will inspect for compliance. Violators will be asked to remove sub­ standard equipment from fairgrounds. Continuing violators will be released from the fairgrounds and premiums/awards forfeited.

16. Junior exhibitors must present their own animals in the show ring when animals are called for judging and auction. Special permission may be granted by Placer County Fair management to use a substitute exhibitor for handling the animal if a legitimate circumstance is presented in writing and approved before judging occurs. Substitute handler must be a junior exhibitor who meets the eligibility requirements for a junior exhibitor at the Placer County Fair. If an exhibitor has two entries in a class, the second animal can be shown by an assistant handler only if the exhibitor is present showing the other animal.

17. Each junior livestock exhibitor is required to groom his/ her own animal(s). Parents, 4-H leaders, FFA Advisors, Junior Grange Advisors, Senior Department Herdsmen, and any other adults are prohibited from grooming junior livestock animals. Failure to comply with this rule may cause the forfeit of premiums and exhibit privileges to the exhibitor, and market animals may not sell.

18. Entry Limitations: An exhibitor may enter up to three (3) market animals total or two (2) market animals and one (1) replacement animal at the Placer County Fair. Exhibitors are limited to three (3) entries per class in both large and small animal divisions. Exception: Dairy Goat exhibitors will be allowed three (3) does in one class; State Rule IV-6 to prevail. Please refer to each division

for specific limitations. Primary exhibitors are limited to one (1) animal per specie.

19. Fair Management is not responsible for finding errors in entries. No exhibitor shall be entitled to an award which has been disallowed as the result of his/her own error. Fair Management shall withhold the payment of the awards for exhibits that are ineligible and may recover awards that have been paid for ineligible entries that are disclosed during post audits of Fair records. However, exhibitors with cause are entitled to question the validity of any disallowance. Such exhibitors should inform Fair Management immediately, in writing, giving their name, address, complete description of the entry and the reason for requesting reconsideration. Requests will not be considered later than sixty (60) days after receiving notice of disallowance.

20. All signatures and information necessary to determine that the exhibit is eligible must be on the entry form and all fees (including penalties) must be paid before judging of the class has started. Therefore, it shall be the responsibility of the exhibitors to correct all deficiencies in connection with entries or exhibiting which are required of them by the rules printed in the Exhibitor Handbook. Premiums may not be paid, or awards made for exhibits, on which deficiencies have not been corrected before the judging of the class has started.

21. Awards, ribbons, tags or cards have no value as payment. Premiums are paid for Sweepstakes Awards Only based on the records of the judges' sheets. Premium checks will be issued as soon as auditing, drug testing if applicable and processing can be completed. If checks are not received by July 31st, please phone or write. Checks should be cashed within six (6) months of the date of issue. Exhibitors have until December 11, 2015 to claim checks returned to Placer County Fair as undeliverable. Checks will not be reissued after this date. Note: This year, premiums are only paid on Sweepstakes Divisions.

22. At least four entries (or head in livestock) must be present in a class before a class will be held, otherwise classes may be combined and/or premiums pro-rated. The decision of the Exhibit Superintendent and Livestock Manager shall be final in regard to the classification of entries and combination of classes.

23. Management shall reserve the right to vacate, declare ineligible for competition, and/or remove any entry which is not in the best interest of the Fair, is unsightly, unhealthy, injured, lame, unsound, endangers public safety, violates the Fair's Animal Welfare Policies, or has been entered in violation of these rules and regulations.

24. Exhibitors causing public disturbances, those that are uncooperative and/or unsportsmanlike, those not following good animal welfare practices as determined by management, or those found in violation of rules or in practices as determined by management, or those found in violation of rules or in practices unethical or inimical with the Fair program and/or policies/procedures shall be penalized by forfeiture of premiums awarded, any

and all awards, payment of fines and/or damages to Fair property, privileges, and/or disqualification at this or subsequent Placer County Fair's as may be deemed appropriate by Fair Management and/or the Board of Directors. Further, if the exhibitor and/or exhibitor's adult supervisor, parent or family member's actions are deemed to be illegal, inhumane or unethical to livestock, the proper authorities will be notified for further investigation by those agencies for possible prosecution and/or civil penalties.

25. Each exhibitor will be solely responsible for any consequential or other loss, injury or damage done to or occasioned by, or arising from, any animal or article exhibited by him/her. Exhibitor agrees to indemnify, and save harmless, the State of California, the County of Placer, the Placer County Fair Association, and all its officers, agents, and employees there of from all claims, demands, damages, costs, expenses, liability costs suits or actions of every name, kind and description brought forth from, or account of, injuries or death of any person including, but not limited to, workmen, and the public, or damage to property resulting from the performance of the exhibitor or its entries. Neither party shall request an apportionment of liability by a jury.

26. Any exhibitor found in violation of any rule may be placed on probation as deemed necessary by Fair Management.

27. The judge may disqualify any animal that is not sufficiently gentle to be shown with safety. The judge may not award premiums to any animals which show visible evidence of disease, deformity, or lameness. No award will be made to entries eliminated under this rule.

28. Any animal that is involved in a protest is eligible to compete until the protest is resolved. Any classes which involve a protested animal will not be officially placed until the protest is resolved. In Championship classes involving that animal the judge shall also select a Reserve Champion, in case of disqualification.

29. Each exhibitor shall be expected to show animals in accordance with the schedule for judging as printed in the Exhibitor Handbook or posted. Schedule is subject to change by Management, and such changes will be posted at the Livestock Office. Judging will not be delayed for exhibitors entering the show ring late. Any exhibitor not present promptly at the scheduled time will be ruled out and barred from competition in the class in question.

30. No entry will be judged if fees are outstanding on that entry. Exhibitors and junior exhibitors whose parents or legal guardian have fees and payments outstanding with the Placer County Fair including the Junior Livestock Auction, may not participate until payments are made in full.

31. Protest: Any protest must be made in writing and submitted to the Chief Executive Officer. The protest must be made within six (6) hours of the cause of the protest. All protests must be signed and accompanied by a deposit of $100.00 (cash, money order or certified check made payable to the Placer County Fair) or $200.00 if the

protest relates to violations of State Rules X-XI (Animal Health Rules). The deposit shall be forfeited if the protest is not sustained. Protest must be based on a violation of rules and must state plainly the cause of complaint or appeal and set forth the facts relied upon or rule violated and must include the names of a minimum of two (2) supporting witnesses, including their phone numbers upon whom proof is to be made. No complaint or appeal concerning a judge or judge's decision will be considered. The decision of Fair Management shall be final and unappealable.

UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS 32. FFA: The official Show Uniform shall be worn by all FFA

Exhibitors and by helpers in individual and chapter groups while showing at the Placer County Fair. The official FFA Show Uniform shall consist of the following: white pants, white shirt with FFA emblem attached to left pocket, FFA tie, clean shoes or boots, cuffs to be worn over boots, FFAjacket, no hats or head gear of any kind.

4-H: Every 4-H exhibitor of livestock must wear the official uniform of his or her organization while showing his or her animals. The followlng 4-H uniform specifications must be followed: Boys - 4-H cap (appropriately worn); 4-H green tie; white shirt, short sleeve or long sleeve, buttoned at wrists; white or logan green pants with belt when belt loops are provided; shoes or boots are required; boots, if worn should be inside pants leg. Girls - 4-H cap (appropriately worn); white blouse and white skirt or white dress of comparable design; green 4-H collar with 4-H emblem on back corners, with a simple white ring fastener; OR: Boy's Complete Uniform - 4-H cap (appropriately worn); white short sleeved or long sleeved shirt; green 4-H collar; white or logan green ankle length slacks or pants with belt when loops are provided; shoes are required; boots, if worn, should be inside pants leg.

Grange: Grange Members may show in the organization's official uniform. Each Grange exhibitor has the option to wear either the "full" official uniform or "whites." They cannot wear a combination of both. The official Grange uniform is dark blue trousers and a red polo shirt or a light blue work shirt with red waist vest with the Grange emblem on the back and the word "Grange" above the emblem and the word "youth" below it - no hat or head gear shall be worn.

Independents: Must wear whites during competition. "Whites" shall consist of new-appearing white trousers or skirt and a new-appearing white blouse or shirt. Hats are not acceptable. Open toed foot wear, shorts, T-shirts, sleeveless shirts or clothing with any artwork or embroidery are not acceptable. Any exhibitors not conforming to these qualifications will be disqualified from the class.

33. Assistants in the show ring must wear the official uniform or whites as described in Rule #32.

Entry Requirements

34. A livestock exhibitor will be disqualified from the show ring, if in the judge's or management's opinion, his/her attire is inappropriate or unclean.

EXHIBITOR PASS I PARKING 35. Each livestock Exhibitor and/or Leader may pick up

his/her livestock parking pass and exhibitor's/ Leader's wristband on Wednesday, June 24th from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. No parking on grounds including the livestock areas during official fair hours or after BAM on Sunday (due to the junior livestock auction activities). All vehicles must be in public lots, exhibitor parking areas, vendor parking areas or off grounds during official Fair hours as posted. All vehicles in fair parking lots must display official parking credentials. VIP or special Parking must be arranged for through the Administrative offices.

LIVESTOCK ARRIVAL/RELEASE TIMES & REQUIREMENTS

36. Arrlval: Livestock will not be allowed on the grounds for housing until Wednesday, June 24th after 8:00 a.m. All livestock must be in place by 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 24th (except where otherwise stated); weigh-in times are earlier. Market animal weigh-in will take place between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The traffic lanes on the north side of the barns will be closed to traffic between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. due to these weigh-ins. All show animals should arrive on the grounds clipped. All animals must be identified by a permanent ear tag or tattoo. No nurse cows will be allowed on the fairgrounds (natural mothers will be allowed). If you need to contact the Livestock Superintendent during the fair, please call the Livestock Office at 916-782-4033.

37. Release: Livestock shall not be released prior to Sunday, June 22nd at the official release times (please refer to Judging & Arrival Release Schedule or specific divisions for times) unless authorized by the Exhibits Supervisor and/or Fair Management. Release slips must be obtained from barn superintendent or authorized personnel only. Any exhibitor removing livestock from fairgrounds must have a release form. Animals will NOT be released prior to 6:00 p.m. on June 28th to be weighed or tagged for another fair. All small animals must be removed from the grounds on Sunday, June 28th by 11 p.m. (RABBITS/ POULTRY/CAVIES: All cages, feeders and waterers must be cleaned to the satisfaction of Fair Management before animals will be released). All large livestock must be removed by 6:00 p.rn., Monday, June 28th.

38. No animals are to be loaded into trucks until release time. Any livestock exhibitor loading or removing animals or tack before that time will forfeit all earned premiums and eligibility at future Placer County Fairs unless permission is granted per Placer County Fair management.

39. RV & Trailer Space: Trailers and campers may come onto the fairgrounds on Tuesday, June 23rd, after 5:00pm. Parking will be for self-contained units only.

A $50.00 fee will be charged. Trailer parking will be designated by Management. Electrical and water hook­ ups are not available. Please indicate size on trailer space reservation sheet. Only pre-registered trailers and campers will be accommodated. Identification tags must be displayed in the front window. No refunds will be made on trailer fees. Please fill out the registration form printed in the Exhibitor's Handbook. Trailers and campers may be removed from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, June 28th, or after 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28th.

HEALTH EXAMINATIONS 40. Veterinarians shall have the right to enter any pen or tie

area to inspect an animal. Any animal found to be in an unsafe or unsightly condition will be quarantined in a designated area and then dismissed from the grounds as soon as possible. The Placer County Fair veterinarian's decision will be final. Specific health conditions that may warrant quarantines and/or dismissal are "active" ringworm, warts, sore mouth, infectious scours or dysentery, pinkeye, lice (may include animals traveling and/or exposed to an animal(s) that has been dismissed by veterinarian), mites, foot rot, infectious pneumonia and abscesses which are balding, showing separation, open, draining or still scabbed. Animals having surgical sites resulting from abscess removal are unacceptable if they have sutures (stitches), scabs or are draining. Animals that are lame or injured will also be dismissed at the direction of the Placer County Fair veterinarian.

41. All animals may have their tattoos checked.

42. Sheep and Goat Rules - All sheep and goats entering fairs require individual scrapie identification. Animals must be enrolled in the scrapie program. The Fair WILL NOT be providing tags for Market Lambs and Market Goats. Lost scrapie tags are the exhibitor's responsibility.

43. Poultry health checks will start at 8:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 p.m. prior to coop-in; poultry will not be permitted on grounds prior to check in.

44. Drench guns are not approved for use while on fairgrounds. Anyone found to be using a drench gun, without the supervision and/or direction of the official fair veterinarian and/or designated fair official, may result in exhibit being disqualified.

AGE AND ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUTH EXHIBITORS

1. 4-H Member Age Polley: A bona fide 4-H member is a youth who is enrolled in, at least, kindergarten during the 2014-2015 school year, and has not reached their 19th birthday by December 31, 2014. They must be enrolled in the Placer County 4-H Program with a card on file in the County 4-H Office, and have completed all project requirements by required deadlines, including a 4-H Record book, signed by all appropriate leaders. Showing in the fair is the culmination of a year's efforts, therefore, a 4-H member must have been enrolled in at least the

4th Grade or 9 years old by January 1, 2015 and fulfilled all other membership and project requirements to show and/or sell 4-H Livestock. Any questions as to eligibility rest with the Placer County 4-H Leader's Executive Committee.

Primary Members: 4-H Primary Members are youth who are enrolled in Kindergarten through 3rd Grades. Primary members are eligible to enter primary classes only. They are not eligible to show large livestock or sell in the junior livestock auction. Children enrolled in Kindergarten or 5 years old as of December 31, 2014 are eligible for 4-H as Primary Members. Involvement in animal projects is limited to approved projects only. Primary members are eligible to enroll in the following animal projects only: pygmy goats, dogs, cavies, rabbits, embryology, entomology, marine science, poultry, and therapeutic animal projects. Primary members do not pay an Entry Fee; therefore, they receive RIBBONS ONLY. Premiums will not be paid to primary members. These projects are designed to teach proper care and understanding of animals and are not intended to involve competition and animal exhibition as part of the 4-H project.

2. FFA - FFA members may participate as members until the end of the calendar year following the year of graduation from high school. Students competing in this division must be regularly enrolled in the High School Vocational Agriculture Program or graduated from High School in 2014 in order to meet the requirements, rules and regulations set up by C.A.T.A. and the State Association of FFA. Competition is open to FFA Chapters of Placer County. Exhibitor must be in good standing in his/her FFA Chapter. No exhibit will be received unless entry has been signed by a Chapter Advisor and parent or guardian. All entries in an FFA division must be owned by the student and have acceptable Record Books available upon request of Fair Management.

3. GRANGE - Grange members may exhibit if they are at least 5 years of age as of January 1, 2015 and until the end of the calendar year in which the member reaches age 19. Grange member's ages 5 through 9 are subject to the same rules as 4-H Primary members.

4. Independent Junior - Independent Jr. Exhibitors must be at least 9-years old or in the 4th Grade by January 1, 2015. Exhibitors are eligible to compete/exhibit through December 31 of the year in which they turn 19 years of age - Independent junior exhibitors must enter an open junior class unless one is not available. If an open junior class is not available, junior exhibitors may enter an appropriate FFA, 4-H Division or Grange Class. Division and/or Class placement of Independents may be determined by Fair Management. Juniors who have been FFA, 4-H or Grange project members within 60 days prior to the fair are not eligible to compete in that project as independent juniors (150 days for market beef and 60 days for market swine). Each entry in these divisions shall have been made or produced by the exhibitor. Entries shall be made on Junior Department entry forms provided by the Fair. The signature of a parent or guardian is

required. State and Local Rules apply to all entries and scorecards in corresponding Senior and Junior Department classes shall be used unless otherwise provided in these divisions.

A. Independent junior exhibitors not affiliated with any organization can enter appropriate FFA or 4-H classes if they meet the age or grade level requirements.

B. Independent junior exhibitors must not have been project members in a junior organization within 60 days (150 days for market beef cattle) to be eligible to participate as an Independent Junior in that project.

C. Independent Juniors must have "on ground" supervision by a responsible adult while at the fair.

D. Please refer to Junior Livestock Auction Rules and Local Rules for more information on Independent Junior Exhibitor requirements.

5. Junior Exhibitors must meet the ownership requirements for livestock and small animals by the following schedule:

Turkey - 45 days prior to Fair, May 11, 2015

Poultry - 30 days prior to Fair, May 26, 2015 (must be owned by 1 week of age)

Rabbits - 30 days prior to Fair, May 26, 2015 (must be owned since 5 weeks of age)

Sheep - 60 days prior to Fair, April 26, 2015

Swine - 60 days prior to Fair, April 26, 2015

Market Goats - 60 days prior to Fair, April 26, 2015

Beef - 150 days prior to Fair, January 26, 2015

6. Other Junior Exhibitors

A. Other Junior exhibitors include divisions and classes restricted to children 17 years of age and under who are not under the FFA, 4-H youth programs or other recognized junior farm organization programs.

B. Each entry in these divisions shall have been made or produced by the exhibitor. Entries shall be made on official Placer County Fair entry forms provided by the Fair. The signature of a parent or guardian is required for entry.

C. State and local rules apply to all entries and score cards in corresponding Senior and Junior Department classes shall be used unless otherwise provided in these divisions.

D. Exhibitors who are enrolled in any junior organization for which classes are offered elsewhere are not eligible to enter in these divisions.

AGRICULTURE AND HORTICULTURE Department Judging -

All divisions and categories in the Agriculture and Horticulture Department will be judged using the American judging system. In the American judging system, each entry in a class is judged in comparison to other entries in the class. Awards are given according to relative merit with the potential for no more than one first, one second and on third place per class.

Limits - 1. Open Agriculture/Horticulture and Scarecrow Divisions

are open to exhibitors who are legal residents of El Dorado, Placer, Nevada, Sacramento, Sutter and Yuba counties.

2. Agriculture/Horticulture to be displayed in Johnson Hall. 3. The quality desired in agricultural and horticultural

product exhibits is the quality that brings the best financial return in the commercial market and such exhibits must be at least equal in maturity as that state of ripeness required by Section 42515 of the California Agricultural Code in order to be considered for premium awards.

"Mature" means having reached that state of ripeness which will insure the completion of the ripening process to a degree which will insure palatability after the removal of the product from the tree, plant or vine.

"Overripe" means having an advanced state of maturity which causes the product to be undesirable for human consumption in a fresh state.

4. Variety of product must be adequately and correctly labeled.

5. All entries must be grown by exhibitor. 6. The Placer County Fair will furnish plates. 7. Exhibitor will provide own container for Swiss Chard,

Herbs, Gardener's Choice, and Berries (provide standard berry basket).

Floriculture

FLORICULTURE Judging-

All divisions and categories in the Floriculture Department will be judged using the American judging system. In the American judging system, each entry in a class is judged in comparison to other entries in the class. Awards are given according to overall performance in reference to the Floriculture Department Scorecard, with the potential for no more than one first. one second and on third place per class.

Limits- 1. Floriculture will be brought to, judged, and displayed in

Johnson Hall. 2. All entries must be entered on official forms furnished by the

Entry Office. Exhibitors must have all entries in place on the days and at the times designated throughout the schedule. All Floriculture exhibits are to be picked up on Monday June 29, 2015 between the hours of 3:00 to 6:30 p.m. by claim ticket only.

3. State Rule IV-6 applies. 4. Each exhibit must be accurately and correctly labeled under the

proper class number, even though they are the same type flower. (Example: Two entries of a red rose must be listed separately due to the fact that each must have an identity tag.)

5. Containers are provided by the Fair for the cut flowers. Use your own vase where it specifies "Bouquets" or flowers to be floated. Please mark all your belongings.

6. Management reserves the right to remove and discard all cut flowers at the close of each entry period.

7. Responsibility: See State Rules number 11-15, 16 and 17. 8. Judges may reserve the right to disqualify or transfer to

correct class (at his or her discretion) any entry entered in the wrong class or division and any exhibit which is not a true representative of the class or division in which it is entered.

9. Specimens with aphids, etc. will be disqualified. 10. Flowers and plant material should be well hardened and

groomed. LEAVES WHICH WILL BE BELOW WATER MUST BE REMOVED.

11. Exhibits in the Floriculture Department, except arrangements, must have been grown by exhibitor. All classes are open to legal residents or producers in El Dorado, Placer, Nevada, Sacramento, Sutter and Yuba counties.

12. No entry will be accepted where an exhibitor prescribes conditions under which he or she will exhibit.

PERENNIAL- A plant that lives, blooms, and seeds for more than two years. Trees and shrubs are hard wooded perennials. HERBACEOUS PERENNIALS - A plant that lives longer than two years but which in colder climates dies back to the ground each winter. SPIKE - A flower structure with flowers, stemless or very short stemmed, on a common lengthened stalk. Example: Gladiolus. SPRAY - Portion of a plant with a number of flowers on one stem. Example: Cosmos. STEM - The main ascending part of a plant. Example: Tea Rose, Carnation. STALK - A stiff stem which may or may not branch, and with one or more flowers and bulbs. Example: Tall Bearded Iris. BLOOM - Individual flowers, one blossom on a stem. Example: Carnations. SPECIMEN - A single plant, bloom, spike, spray, stalk or stem.

6. In Advanced and Masters Division, exhibitors desiring special background must provide support for same.

7. No arrangements to occupy more than approximately two (2) feet of table space, except horizontal classes.

8. Flowers and plant materials should be well conditioned and groomed.

9. Exhibitors must complete and clean area after each arrangement is placed.

10. Silk flower arrangements cannot have any fresh plant material. They must remain for the duration of the Fair.

11. Titles for each class are simply to stimulate your imagination and should not be taken literally.

12. Use of clay or other sticky materials to anchor any portion of a design to shelves or table SHALL CANCEL any award made. All construction and backgrounds must be self-supporting.

13. Materials or exhibits in a given class will not be permitted to compete in any other class any other day.

Limits- 1. Open Preserve Foods classes are open to legal residents of El

Dorado, Placer, Nevada, Sacramento, Sutter and Yuba counties. 2. All entries in these divisions must be home prepared and

canned or packaged by the exhibitor within one year prior to the opening date of the Placer County Fair. Items which have been shown at any previous Placer County Fair are not eligible. All products being considered for cash awards will be opened (except gift packs). Amateurs only.

3. Accurate and legibly written labels, including exhibitor's name and address, entry division and class number, must be attached to entry, on bottom of jars only.

4. Vegetables must be canned under pressure. Low acid fruits such as figs, should be made more acidic by adding lemon juice as directed in the University of California Agricultural Extension Service leaflet, "Home Canning of Fruits." Tomatoes and fruit, not including their juices, must be processed in boiling water bath.

5. No Paraffin seals. All canning must be in sealed glass jars with rings in place.

6. Exhibitor to present two (2) identical sized containers for each entry. One container is to be opened for judging and returned to the exhibitor, the other is to be displayed. Exception. See Dried Foods. Opened, judged containers must be picked up after judging or will be disposed of by the Fair.

7. Optional ingredients, such as artificial sweeteners and liqueurs, must be noted on entry.

8. Due to health and safety concerns, vinegar bottles will not be returned to exhibitor.

9. Exhibits must be accurately labeled including method of processing. After judging, Exhibitor may replace open jars.

GENERAL INFORMATION 1. Restricted to children ages 5 to 17 years of age and/or 4-H

Member to age 19. 2. Placer County residents only. 3. Exhibits produced by youth exhibitors while enrolled

or participating in 4H, FFA or any other junior farm organization programs are allowed to exhibit within the Youth & Teen Department.

4. Each entry in these divisions shall have been made, collected or produced by the exhibitor not more than one year prior to opening day of the Fair. Use the Junior Department Entry Form.

5. State, local rules and score cards apply to all entries in corresponding Adult Departments and shall be used unless otherwise specified in the Youth & Teens Department.

6. Exhibitors must check carefully for size restrictions and any other "limits" particular to a division.

7. JUDGING: At every opportunity the value of the blue ribbon should be stressed. The blue ribbon represents, or should represent, the perfection for which the Youth & Teen exhibitors are striving with their projects. The educational and moral value of achieving this perfection should result in a future economic return which will be far greater than the immediate return in the form of cash awards. DANISH JUDGING SYSTEM will be used for exhibitors ages 5 thru 18 in all contests. It is based upon established standards of quality for each type of product. In this system each exhibit is judged according to how well it meets that standard rather than how it compares with other exhibits. The following guidelines shall be used by the judge(s): Quality Score Ribbon 1st Place - Superior 90%-100% Blue 2nd Place - Good 80%-89% Red 3rd Place -Average 70%-79% White

JLA Livestock Auction Rules

1. NOTE: The Junior Livestock Auction will be held Sunday, June 12. 28, at 10:00 a.m. in the Amlin Livestock Pavilion.

2. Junior Market Animals and Replacement Females must be weighed in on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the following 13. times: Beef 7:00 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.

Turkeys 7:45 p.m. (following beef) Goats 7:00 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. Sheep 8:00 p.m. (following turkeys & beef) Swine 7:45 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Chickens 7:00 p.m. 14.

3. An official Placer County Fair ear tag/tattoo is required on all market animals from the time of weigh-in to the release of animals on Sunday, June 22nd. All other identification tags will be removed at the scales (with exception of Jr. Grand National or California State Fair ear tags.)

4. An exhibitor may enter up to three (3) market animals (any combination of species) total at the Placer County Fair. 15.

5. Each exhibitor will be allowed to sell only one (1) market entry regardless of species: One (1) Market Beef or one (1) Replacement Heifer, or one (1) Market Hog or one 16. (1) Replacement Gilt, or one (1) Market Lamb or one (1) Replacement Ewe, or one (1) Market Goat or one (1) 17. Replacement Doe, or one (1) pen of Rabbits or one (1) Single Fryer Rabbit, or one (1) Pen of Chickens, or one (1) Pen of Ducks, or one (1) Turkey. Animals eligible for the sale must 18. be declared within one hour of the conclusion of the show. All declarations must be made to the Junior Livestock Office (Caboose).

6. All Grand and Reserve Champions must sell. Only in the instance that an exhibitor is awarded both a Grand and/or a Reserve Champion will an exhibitor be allowed to sell two (2) animals. 19.

7. The Limit of one (1) market entry to be sold through the Junior Livestock Auction has the following Pen exceptions: 20.

Chicken: One Entry to consist of two (2) Chickens Ducks: One Entry to consist of two (2) Ducks

8. Only animals deemed worthy by the judge, and declared market ready/acceptable will be allowed to sell in the Junior Livestock Auction.

9. Market lambs must be slick shorn within 10 days of the opening day of the Fair with a 20 tooth goat comb.

21. 10. Primary members are not eligible to sell. 11. All animals eligible for the sale must be shown as individuals

in their respective classes and will be selected at the judge's discretion. Animals will be placed in sale order by official show clerks based upon the judge's direction.

All exhibitors of sale animals must be present in the official uniform when pictures are taken for buyer's photographs. This picture is a requirement for sale of the animal. The Sale Order will be posted at the Livestock Entry Office. It is the exhibitor's responsibility to check this list immediately upon posting and report any changes to the Livestock Entry Office. Corrections must be made at the time posted by the Livestock Entry Office. The correction deadline will be posted at the Livestock Entry Office. Animals must be owned and cared for by the exhibitor for the following minimum length of time prior to the Placer County Fair:

Exhibitors must care for their animals until departure from the Fairgrounds or they will forfeit all awards, auction monies and eligibility at future Placer County Fairs. Any marking of sale animals required by the Division of Fairs & Expositions will be enforced. All market animals sold will be charged a 7% commission. All Add-on's will be charged a 7% commission for the purpose of maintaining and defraying auction expenses, A substitute handler to sell the animal will be allowed only after approval from Placer County Fair Management. The exhibitor must present to Fair Management, a written request to have another eligible exhibitor sell their animal. The substitute exhibitor must appear in full uniform of his/her respective organization (4-H, FFA or Grange). This request must be provided to management 10 days prior to auction day. The Junior Livestock Auction Committee will be responsible for shipping of all sale animals. Official Weighmasters will be provided. No Pre-Weighing of animals is permitted. If a weight is contested, re-weigh must be requested at the scale immediately. The animal in question will be removed from the scale, the scale will be re-balanced, and the animal will again be weighed. Under no circumstances shall the animal leave the scale area. Underweight market animals entered in a market class will automatically drop to a feeder class, overweight feeder animals may NOT move up to a market class, three (3) feeder entries (per specie) is allowed per exhibitor. Excessive exercise of a market animal for the purpose of weight reduction is forbidden on the Fairgrounds. Excessively wet animals will be disqualified by the weighmaster.

JLA Livestock Auction Rules

22. PAY WEIGHT LIMITS. There will be no top weights on the following species, and the top pay weights for sale purposes are as follows: Beef = 1400 lbs Sheep = 150 lbs Goats = 110 lbs

23. Market Beef Exhibitors must furnish a Bill of Sale and/or official Brand Inspection form to the State Brand Inspector. A Brand Inspection or an outbilling from an auction yard must be made out to the exhibitor, showing proof of 150 days ownership, or a signed statement declaring the animal was bred and raised by the exhibitor.

24. All sale animals, with the exception of poultry and rabbits, must have been pre-weighed at the designated pre-weigh in dates.

25. SHEEP TAIL DOCKING - To qualify for exhibit after December 31, 2002, market lambs must be docked such that the tail (dock) is healed and can be lifted from the exterior. Lambs that have no dock will not be eligible. Breeding animals born before January 1, 2002 are exempt. (Refer to State Rule IXA.)

26. All auction animals must go to the designated processing plant as determined by the Junior Livestock Auction Committee. Market steers and Market Lambs will go to the designated processing plant to be eligible for the carcass contest. The Junior Livestock Auction is a Terminal Sale for all Market Animals with the exception of Replacement Animals. Small Animal Exhibitors are responsible for processing their own animals for the buyer, that are sold through the auction.

27. Sellers of market lambs and market goats are financially responsible for animals which are rejected at the processing center due to the presence of scrapie.

28. Any foul, abusive language and/or physical abuse used toward any Fair Personnel, Weighmaster, Auction Committee Member, Judge, etc. by exhibitors or parents may result in the immediate expulsion of the violators and their animals from the Fairgrounds for the duration of the Fair.

29. Exhibitors, Leaders, Advisors and Parents found in violation of rules or in practices deemed unethical or inimical with the Placer County Fair shall be penalized by forfeiture of premiums awarded and/or privileges as may be deemed appropriate to the circumstances, including ineligibility to participate at future Placer County Fairs and/or Junior Livestock Auctions.

30. Condition of Sale Animals: No painted or decorated animals allowed. All sale animals must be in show-groom condition when entering the sale ring, or the animal will be disqualified from the Junior Livestock Auction.

31. No artificial hair-like substance or coloring changes will be permitted. No icing, slapping, drenching or muzzling will be permitted. All animals are subject to inspection by the official Fair veterinarian at all times. All animals will be inspected prior to entering the ring.

32. The Placer County Fair requires exhibitors of all market animals to complete a Medication Declaration Form for each animal brought to the scale for official weigh-in.

33. Exhibitors will not be allowed to ask the person who buys their animal to give or sell it back to the exhibitor. Exhibitors may not offer to trade another animal that was not sold in the auction to the buyer for the sale animal.

35. Failure to observe the Junior Livestock Auction Rules may result in the animal being excluded from the sale.

36. In the event that an exhibitor receives an overpayment in premium of sale monies, the exhibitor is responsible for returning the overpayment to the Placer County Fair. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of eligibility at future Placer County Fairs.

37. Checks for the sale animals will be available at the Placer County Fair Administration Office beginning Friday, July 10, 2015, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Only fully funded checks (buyers have paid in full) will be available for pick-up on this date. Once the buyer has paid in full, the exhibitor will be notified 7 days after payment is received that the check is available for pick-up. Exhibitors must present a "Thank You" letter for their buyer to the Fair office, in a stamped, sealed envelope.

2. The purpose of the carcass evaluation is to provide information to exhibitors, parents, and leaders so that they may be able to do a better job in the future. We are witnessing many changes and different opinions in the beef industry today as to what constitutes the ideal market animal. Variations in yields of retail cuts among beef carcasses are accounted for mainly by the amount of fat that must be trimmed in preparing the cuts, and thickness and fullness of the muscling.

Danish System of judging will be used. 2. Market beef weigh-in will take place on Wednesday, June

lots for convenience in judging. 4. Market beef must be individually owned by the exhibitor

for 150 days prior to the opening day of the Fair. 5. Underweight animals will automatically be dropped to

feeder class. 6. Only one (1) animal will be accepted for sale entry, unless

Market Division - 1101 only.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Steers MUST have been bred and born in Placer or Nevada County and purchased from a Placer or Nevada county breeder. Steers purchased from Placer or Nevada county breeders, but bred and born outside Placer or Nevada Counties DO NOT qualify.

REPLACEMENT HEIFERS Entry Fee - No entry fee Judging- American System

Limits- 1. Must be owned by the exhibitor for a minimum of 150 days prior to

the opening of the fair. 2. All replacement heifers must be weighed-in on Wednesday, June

24th, from 7:00 - 7:45pm. 3. Must be between 6 and 24 months of age. 4. Heifers 18 months and over, must be bred. Bred heifers entered

in this division must have a mandatory pregnancy confirmation by a veterinarian within 30 days prior to arrival at the fairgrounds, at the exhibitor's expense. Proof of pregnancy must be turned in to the Livestock Office on check-in day.

5. Purebred and crossbred heifers will be shown and judged together.

6. All heifers must have proof of Brucellosis vaccination. 7. Brand Inspector's requirements for ownership will be enforced.

Brand inspection and bill of sale must be turned in at weigh-in on Wednesday, June 24, 2014.

8. Minimum of five entries must be judged in order for a Champion and Reserve Champion to be awarded.

9. Only the top two placing heifers, determined by the judge, are eligible to sell in the Jr. Livestock Auction. Limits - a total of three sale animals may be entered and shown by an exhibitor (replacement heifers are included}. Only in the instance that an exhibitor is awarded both Champion and Reserve Champion, will an exhibitor be allowed to sell two animals.

10. Heifers entered in this division may not be shown in any other breeding divisions or classes, but are allowed in Division 1900 Beef Showmanship.

in the junior department are eligible for entry by the owner in the showmanship classes.

6. Dog need not be entered in Showmanship. 7. Exhibitor must have entered a class in obedience or agility in

Class 01 Primary - Open to all youth exhibitors aged 5 to 9 years old. 02 Novice A - Open to all exhibitors who have not won more than

two (2) blue ribbons in the Novice A category. Novice A will follow all AKC novice guidelines with the distinction that all exercises are performed on-leash.

03 Novice B - Open to exhibitors who have won two (2) blue ribbons in the Novice A category. Once an exhibitor moves to Novice B, they may no longer compete in Novice A. Novice B follows AKC novice guidelines and includes off-leash work.

Division 1601-Agility Limit- In order to compete the dog and handler must have completed a course in agility training. Either a year of 4-H Agility or a class with an agility instructor. Safety is our number one concern and skills in this sport must be learned for it to be competed in safely. Class - Standard Agility 01 Primary - Open to all youth exhibitors ages 5 to 9 years

old. The course shall consist of: single jumps, pause table, tunnels, collapsed tunnel, tire jump, dog walk.

02 On Leash Classes - Open to ages 9 to 19. The course shall consist of: all of the above plus the A frame, weave poles and double and triple jumps. The handlers will compete with the dogs on leash.

03 Off Leash Classes - Open to ages 9 to 19. The course shall consist of all of the obstacles listed above and the handlers will compete with the dogs off leash. Jumpers with Weaves Agility

4. Utility Chickens - To be judged two-thirds on a utility basis and one-third on a standard basis. Breeds must be named on entry form, if crossbred both breeds need to be listed.

5. Rules, Definitions and Judging procedures as prescribed in the latest edition of the Official Show Rules and the Standard of Perfection of the American Poultry Association, Inc., shall apply to all district and county fair poultry shows, except in such instances where they are in conflict with the rules and regulations prescribed by the Department of Food and Agriculture.

6. A Judge may excuse a bird from competition if it appears to be fatigued or out of condition, but the bird shall be counted as an entry.

Rules, definitions and judging procedures as prescribed in the latest edition of the Guide Book and Standard of the American Rabbit Breeder's Association, Inc., shall apply to all district and county fair rabbit shows, provided they do not conflict with any of the rules and regulations prescribed by the Department of Food and Agriculture.

7. Every exhibitor is personally responsible for the care of their rabbit(s), including feeding, watering, and cleaning of cagets), for all four days of the fair, and to see that their cage has feed and water containers. If this is not done, exhibitor may lose premiums won and the right to sell at auction.

8. Only breeds listed in the Standard of American Rabbit Breeder's Assoc., Inc., are eligible.

9. Duplication of identification numbers are acceptable on animals of different breeds.

10. Primary members must enter only Primary Divisions. Entries receive participation award ribbons, and are not eligible for Champions. Primary exhibitors are limited to one (1) animal per specie.

11. Refer to Local and State Rules that apply to these divisions.

Division 1806 - Primary Rabbits Limit-

RABBIT MEAT PENS Entries

Entry Fee - $2 per entry per class Judging - Danish System Limits-

1. A meat pen shall consist of three rabbits. Meat pen rabbits may be crossbred, but the primary breed must be listed on the entry form (i.e. California cross}.

2. Single Fryer Rabbit, 5 pound weight limit. 3. Rabbits will be weighed in on check-in, Wednesday June,

18th at 7:30 p.m. Rabbits cannot be over 10 weeks of age. Meat pens will be judged according to Meat, Condition and Uniformity.

4. Exhibitors must be present during judging. 5. Receipt must be presented for proof of age and ownership.

If rabbits are bred from exhibitor's own stock, a written verification must be presented, signed by exhibitor, parent and 4-H Rabbit Leader or FFA Instructor.

6. Three (3) pens may be weighed in and shown BUT ONLY ONE PEN will be eligible for the auction, unless exhibitor has a Grand and Reserve Grand Champion market animal.

7. If exhibitor is weighing in THREE PENS OF RABBITS, LIST ALL SETS OF EAR NUMBERS on entry form.

8. After judging of division, JUDGE will place eligible pens of meat rabbits in sale order for Auction.

9. Primary members are not eligible for market classes. 10. Meat type is the most important factor in judging these

pens. The hindquarters are most important, loin second, and forequarters are third in importance. All fryers in a pen must

be in prime condition. The fryers must be firm and solid. Uniformity must be present in weight, size, appearance, condition, meat type and should be as similar in all respects as possible.

Division 1807 - Meat Rabbits (Specify breed on entry form) Class 01 Three animals, the minimum weight is to be three (3) pounds

per rabbit or a total of at least nine (9) pounds per pen. The maximum weight is to be five (5) pounds per rabbit or a total of no more than 15 pounds per pen, not over 10 weeks, all breeds judged together. Each entry must be of the same breed.

JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP 1. ALL SHOWMANSHIP MUST BE PRE-ENTERED. ENTRIES

CLOSE FRIDAY, MAY 22, 2015. Only animals owned, shown and entered by junior exhibitors in the junior department are eligible for entry by the owner in the showmanship classes.

2. The Showmanship Schedule will go according to Class Order: FFA Senior, FFA Novice, 4-H Senior, 4-H Junior, 4-H Novice.

3. Independent Exhibitors WILL enter either a 4-H Class or FFA class according to their age. All fourth through eigth grade independent exhibitors enter 4-H classes based on their abilities (Novice, Junior or Senior). All High School Independent exhibitors enter FFA classes based on their abilities (Novice or Senior).

4. Judging: a. Showmanship classes are judged on the American System

of ribbon awards (1st through 5th). b. The Judges will help members improve showmanship

techniques while judging and will demonstrate proper procedures.

c. A large class may be divided into smaller groups for ease of handling and judging and to provide maximum benefits of this learning experience for the Novice and Junior Showman.

d. A first place award indicates that the showman is proficient for his/her age level and experience and should move to a more advanced class.

5. Exhibitors are allowed to show as Novice Showmen for one (1) year only. a. Whenever a member elects to move to a more advanced

class, he/she is no longer eligible for the prior class. b. A member may elect to start at any level of showmanship

competition but may progress only in the direction of advanced competition.

c. The normal procedure would be to start in the Novice class. d. At the next fair (or year) the member would enter the Junior

Class and remain there until awarded a first place ribbon. 6. Showmanship animals must be owned, shown and

groomed by their exhibitor only. All others may be subject to disqualification. Under no circumstances are parents, leaders, herdsmen, or any other adult to do any grooming.

7. An exhibitor whose animal fails to make weight may show that animal in showmanship classes.

8. Only animals owned, shown and entered by junior exhibitors in the Junior department are eligible by the owner in the showmanship classes.

!Uustrate a single idea/theme. High scoring exhibits will be artistically arranged, colorful and attractive, as well as easy to read at a distance. Each panel display will be hung in the center aisle of appropriate barn.

2. These divisions are limited to one entry by a club, chapter or organization in each species.

3. Panels are to be decorated on both sides. Lighting or moving parts are to be battery-operated only.

4. Panels must be designed and constructed by organization members. Adults may supervise only.

5. Panels are to be 4' by 8' plywood sheet (width-ways). Two drilled hanging holes are needed: one each to be placed 4" from top of panel and 12" from side (see example).

6. Exhibits must be delivered to Johnson Hall on Thursday, June 13th. Panels will be hung by Fair staff.

7. Each panel to be labeled with chapter/club name. 8. Classes will be individually judged for ribbons only - 1st through

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCITONS 1. Start an entry form by completing the information on the top of the entry form. You must fill out exhibitor's name, e-rnail.signature,

mailing address, city, state, zip code and telephone number. Please fill out forms legibly and completely. Exhibitor's signature is required on all forms. Failure to provide signatures will disqualify entry.

2. List the Division Number and Class Number for each entry. (BE SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT ONES.) Use a separate form for each exhibitor and for each department. If one form is not sufficient, use additional forms. Entry forms may be photocopied.

3. Where Class says, "Any other, please specify," or "list variety" - this must be done on your entry forms in the Description section.

4. If you are entering a Livestock Division, fill in the information regarding sex, date of birth and ear tag or tattoo. Make sure you are using the appropriate small animal or large animal Livestock Entry Form.

5. If there is an entry fee, write the amount in the "entry fee" column. Be sure to include entry fees with your entry form(s).

6. Be sure to read the rules of the Department and Division you are entering, as well as the State and Local Rules.

7. If you are not sure you are entering correctly, please call and an exhibits representative will be happy to assist you in filling out the forms. Call the Administration Office, phone number: 916-786-2023.

8. The exhibitor is responsible for entering the correct division and class.
