IamextremelyproudofTheArcofDallasforproduc-ing this exhibit in concert with the gallery to showcase artworkfromsomeofthefinestartistswithdisabilities.
These amazing works show us that having a disability does not mean one cannot contribute his or her own special artistic vision to the artworldforotherstoappreciate.Everyartisthassomethingtosaywiththeirwork.YouandIonlyneedtopayattention.
AstheDallasCityCouncilRepresentativeofDistrict10,Iknowtheimportantcontributionstheartsmaketothisgreatcity.“Art&Ability”isjustanotherex-ample of the tremendous impact that the arts can have on people’s lives and how, by sharing it with us, we knit our diverse community together.
These artists demonstrate that anything is possible no matter what obstacles life mightthrowatus.Ifyouhaveapassionandabeliefinyourselfandwhatyouare capable of accomplishing, miraculous things dohappen.Everyartistshouldbe proud of their contribution to this exhibition, and all should recognize that they are role models to others with disabilities and continue to inspire those of uswhounderstandthat“ability”isthebiggestpartoftheword“disability”.
