In a rapidly developing Malaysia today, motorsports is no longer a luxury but a fast growing leisure and competitive activity open to all citizens and residents irrespective of race, religion, gender or physical ability. There are a large number of Associations, Societies, Clubs registered to represent the interests, recruit members and promote specific motorsports such as go-karting, moto-cross biking, motorbike racing, flying and aerobatics, boat racing, etc. in the country.

The Kelab Permotoran dan Rekreasi Warganegara Aktif (KEPRWA) is a new society with the primary aim of enhancing good develop educational and awareness building programmes and training activities and initiatives to promote safe participation in motorsports in the country through smart-partnerships locally, regionally and internationally.

The society’s secondary objectives are to nurture the spirit of good practice, safety in motorsports and sportsmanship through the design and implementation of nationwide mentoring programmes targeted at those currently involved in motorsports and those who intend to get involved in the near future.

These programmes will be done in cooperation with civil society organization, particularly motorsports societies but not exclusively, government agencies and the private sector enabling the utilization of existing resources – funding and human capital – for effective and efficient outreach and replication.

The KEPRWA will also promote “Give-back to Society” motorsports activities and initiatives through charitable events as part of the Society’s aim to develop good citizenship and human wellbeing in Malaysia and generally around the world.

2.0 THE SOCIETY’S’s AIM AND OBJECTIVES

2.1 Aim:

“TO ENHANCE GOOD CITIZENSHIP AND WELLBEING THROUGH THE USE OF MOTORSPORT IN MALAYSIA”

2.2 Objectives:

1) To develop awareness building and educational programmes and activities on the importance of safety and good practice in the motorsports sector for service providers and their respective client groups, in particular youth but not exclusively, in Malaysia;

2) To develop a mentoring programme, and database of resource materials, funds and human capital (specialist and technical) for designing and implementing awareness building and educational programmes and activities that promote good practice and safety in the motorsport sector.

3) To develop strategic and smart-partnership with civil society organizations, especially Associations, Societies and Clubs that represent motorsports, the private sector and government agencies to promote, support, deliver awareness building and educational programmes and activities;

4) To facilitate inter-regional and international networking and cooperation to share information, knowledge and expertise for developing motorsports sector’s safety and good practice policy in Malaysia;

5) To encourage those involved in, and who support motorsports to become involved and contributors to charitable activities and initiatives as part of good citizenship and nation building in Malaysia.

3.0 PATRON, ADVISERS AND EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBERS

3.1 Patron

The composition of the Patrons will be sufficiently representative and diverse to allow the organisation to best achieve its objectives and invited by the Executive Committee of KEPRWA. Patrons of the Society will bear no liability financial or otherwise in the mismanagement of the Society in any case.

3.2 Advisers

Advisers of the Society will bear no liability financial or otherwise in the mismanagement of the Society in any case. Advisers will have the right to suggest to the Executive Committee on matters affecting the image and workings of the Society.

3.3 Executive Committee Members

The Executive Committee is responsible for guarding the vision, determining the organisation’s overall mission and purpose, and ensuring its legal and ethical integrity. Other responsibilities may include the following, depending on factors such as whether the organisation is staffed, whether it raises its own funds, etc:

Recruit and orient new board members. Appoint the CEO (for a staffed organisation). Support the management Determine, monitor and strengthen the organisation’s programmes. Provide financial oversight. Ensure adequacy of resources (which can range from overseeing investment performance

of endowment funds to being actively involved in fundraising).

Compliance: the organisation’s central purposes must guide all decisions. The board must also ensure that the organisation functions according to the “laws of the land”, its own bylaws and other policies;

Loyalty: board members must avoid conflicts of interest and the appearance of conflicts of interest. This includes personal conflicts of interest or conflicts with other organisations with which a board member is connected;

Care: board members must exercise due care in all its dealings. This includes oversight of financial matters, attention to issues and raising questions whenever there is something that seems unclear or questionable.

5.0 Proposed Smart-Partners and Funders

The Executive Committee of the Society will approach all the mentioned potential government agencies, civil society organizations and foundations and the private sector to develop smart-partnerships based on the principle that creates “a win-win” outcome and fosters a long-term relationship.

The Executive Committee will also work via a guiding premise of not “reinventing-the-wheel” but working to enhance and appropriately redesign and redevelop existing projects, programmes and initiatives that promote good practice in the Motorsports sector. Partners and Funders:
