Call for papers: Get publishedin 'Notes and Records'

The editors of Notes andRecords: An International Journal ofAfrican and African Diaspora Studies herebysolicit for original andsolid essays for publication. The journal is primarilydevoted topublishing original studies related to the linkages andrelationshipsbetween Africans and the African Diaspora.

The journal aims tofocus on the varied webs of connectionsbetween the Africans and the AfricanDiaspora in an interdisciplinaryapproach. Studies related to history,politics, culture, literature,gender, music/dance, globalization, war,resistance, civil rightsmovements, and lots more are welcome.

Intelligence Workshop: Taking aMultidisciplinary Approach toUnderstanding Radicalization

On Friday, February 3rd, the Bluegrass State Intelligence CommunityCenter of Academic Excellence (BGS IC CAE) will sponsor anintelligence workshop on Taking a Multidisciplinary Approach toUnderstanding Radicalization (logistical information provided below). The Kentucky State University (KSU) Division of Behavioral andSocial Sciences will host the workshop. During theworkshop, workshop participants will obtain in-depth information onradicalization via the presentations listed below. Following thepresentations, participants will apply the knowledge they haveacquired to develop a propaganda campaign to recruit members intoa social movement. Participants will work in assigned teams toidentify the mission and goals of the social movement and todetermine what propaganda tactics might be effective to persuadenew members to join. As a final activity, participants will present theircampaigns.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet CivilEngineering Scholarship

The KYTC Civil Engineering Scholarship Program is for studentsinterested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Candidates must be a Kentucky resident and have a minimum GPAscore of 2.5. Freshmen and sophomores currently receive $6,200a semester to apply towards tuition, books, etc. Juniors and seniorsreceive $6,600 a semester. Students are expected to work for theCabinet upon graduation for each year they are enrolled in theprogram. Students may also work with the Cabinet during the summermonths while they are still enrolled in school. More details about the program and the application can be foundhere. All events must be submitted through the following online form. Wesuggest submitting events at least two weeks prior for the mosteffective event promotion, but calendar requests must be submittedat least five business days before the event.

Before submitting a calendar request, the event organizer mustreserve the event location through Auxiliary Services. Making acalendar request does not reserve the event location.
