Executive Director Update

In the past month… March 12, 2015- April 13, 2015

Bike Week, by all indications, was a good one and we were all busy staffing the tent and making our

visitors feel welcome. We kicked off the hype for the 75th during this year’s event. With the Ocean Center

and hotel partners, we worked the DMAI Foundation Dinner and Destination Showcase in DC on 3/24-

25/15. Also, was appointed to the STS board and attended the Spring Meeting in Charlotte 3/29-4/1/15.

The folks in Charlotte are under the mistaken impression that NASCAR was founded there; we did our

best to set them straight. The NASCAR Hall of fame is nice but is only getting about 200,000 visitors

a year.

Finance is analyzing all of our contracts and seeing where we can cancel to move to a more economical

service as well as having established an on-line payment procedure to cut down on the number of hard

checks we produce.

PR was cranking with Bike Week and Spring Family Beach Break. Tonya and Greg made two trips to the

beach with the GoPro to show all the beach fun being had by families. They were posted to our website to

show us as the true Spring family beach break that we are. Work continues on our May 8, 2015 Tourism

Day event. Facebook 89,012, Twitter 5,770 and 515 on Instagram for our Spring family beach break

photo contest.

Market Development is already working on the media campaign for 75th Bike Week, working on second TV

spot, Have placements for summer secured and filling in the gaps, working on new Visitors Guide, taking

the necessary steps to move from Jackrabbit to Regatta. Visitors Centers Yulee-7 days in month of

March, 590 VG’s distributed, DIS-Fl., PA., IN., the three most popular states that visited the center

Canada, Germany and Brazil were international most popular, and Destination Daytona- Fl., Mi., Pa. were

three most popular origin states and Canada and Germany top International destinations. Consumer

Shows in DC, Philly and The Villages were worked.

Sales had a great month with 6 sites, 11 Leads, 3 definite, 3 Ocean Center leads, and Convention

Services assisted 6 groups. Thirty six prospecting calls were completed and our Indy mission for Sports

and Fraternal produced 24 calls plus an event at a Pacers game.

Looking ahead…

Coming up we have 3 FAM’s, one travel FAM, National Tourism Week event, Helms Briscoe ABC

conference, Independent Planner Conference, FSAE activities, NYC sales mission prior to RTO in May, IPW

POW-WOW. We have to keep our momentum growing.
