Deb Tegtmeyer, Chair, GACC Board of Directors dtegtmeyer@lcchousing.org When asked earlier this year why they decided to join the Granville Area Chamber of Commerce, many of our members responded that they felt it was their “civic duty,” or “a good way to support the community.” While joining the Chamber is a good way to exercise one’s duty to the larger community, your involvement need not end there. Active members strengthen the organization. Active members make the organization relevant. And active members generally get even more out of their membership. November provides several opportuni- ties for you to express and expand your civic involvement in the Granville community. For starters – there are two positions on the Board of Directors opening, as current board members Ashley Wade and Cathy Untied complete their terms. Jodi Melfi, a current member of the Board and active with the Marketing Committee, plans to run again for her current seat. And though we have at minimum two seats to fill, we can also add more board members, in accor- dance with the newly revised Consti- tution adopted earlier this year. Why join the GACC Board of Directors? Why now? Here are a few reasons: 1) We’ve got a promising new Execu- tive Director in place to support and further our work. 2) We’ve got a new 501(c)(3) orga- nization – the Granville Chamber Alliance – in place to augment our educational and charitable purposes, thereby allowing us new options for additional program- ming and partnerships. 3) We’re launching a new mobile application in December that will enhance our collective capabilities to share information about Granville and expand business opportunities. 1 UPCOMING GACC MEETINGS MEMBERSHIP MEETING WHEN: Wednesday, November 19, 2014 TIME: 11:30 AM –1 PM WHERE: Bryn Du Mansion Carriage House, 537 Jones Rd, Granville PROGRAM: Using Your Chamber Membership Effectively. 4) Central Ohio’s economic prospects are bright – and the GACC needs to take advantage of the opportu-nities, while mitigating the poten-tial downsides that growth will certainly bring.

5) We have strong and growing part-nerships with key Granville institu-tions – the Village, the Township, Denison University, the Granville Village Schools, the Granville Recreation District, the Gran-ville Foundation, and many others that affect the quality of life and economic environment in Granville.

I’m delighted that Jenna McDevitt, Director of Operations at Denison University, has thrown her hat into the ring. And I know that a few others
