8 | TOURS & ACTIVITIES SPECIFICATION DESCRIPTION This excursion starts with pick up and transport to Nybyen, where the guides await with the friendly Greenland dog who will accompany the group during the tour. The group then continues on foot past the Gruve 4 mine and towards the Longyear Glacier, where the search begins for 40-60 million year old plant fossils. Tour participants who find their own fossils are allowed to take home as souvenirs. The guide will serve warm drinks and biscuits during the tour. Product information: This is a short hike, but is not recommended for people who have difficulty walking, as the terrain is demanding and there are streams which must be crossed.
