DISCUSSION ABOUT SUCCESSFUL CASES

The intention of the session is to outline different ways of opening exchange opportunities to students in financial need or at-risk, youth who may otherwise not be able to participate in the program.

Livia Pecim

A 16 years old brazilian student from public school, she was living with couple of friends because her parents were divorced. She used to work at home to help host family.She was studing on a social organization called LEGIÃO MIRIM DA VILA PRUDENTE, São Paulo to learn and prepare to find her first job

She was classified and choosed between 12 good students .She went to COLOMBIA and received everything from EXPRO BRASIL

She study spanish language during 4 months before departure.

In today she is working at Chevrolet car agency.

 

João Paulo Santos Caetano

22 years old born in São Paulo main city in Brazil , studied the full secondary education in public school , where I had good graduation. In the same period i was approved at technichal school SENAI and in the course of Mechanic .

In a moment of great difficulty in my life where my family was going through financial and health problems , I was introduced to ROTARY , something I did not know it about.

I was invited to participate in the PROJECT RYLA - Rotary Youth Leadership Award, and I was told about of youth exchange program but it was too far from my reality and conditions .

In December 2009 I became an exchange student for Colombia, there I stayed in the city of Fusagasugá located one hour from Bogota in the house of a couple of Rotarian Diana and Fernando, people who welcomed me like a son , and I remained there for two months .

In Colombia I learned and practice the Spanish language , participated in volunteer Rotarians meetings with other exchange students from different parts of the world , I began to see that the reality was very similar to mine, working people and cozy , yet I miss everything.

GOOD STUDENT PROJECT

.NATALIA GENTILIn 2009 I studied in a public school who selected me for auditions to join the Good Student Program . There were several interviews , tests and dynamic until the program selected 21 students , and I was one of these students . This selection takes place every two years with students from public schoolsThe following year , I joined the Marist College Dom Silverio with the support of the program , which provides all students the opportunity to study in good private schools and pay school supplies, uniforms , transportation and any other studies related to need . Apart from school twice a week I go to the program to take classes in English, writing and had math lessons. The Good Student Program focuses on our academic growth , but it also cares about our social training , so we have classes for personal development and support of

psychologists .

This exchange means a lot to me and I always had rejoined dreams : living abroad for a while , studying in another country and visit Australia . I am full of expectations and intend during this exchange , show the Good Student , Rotary Program and my family that investment and trust they have placed in me paid off.I am passionate about the program and have it as my second family . I greatly appreciate what they do for me and I carry with me a dream to help someone in the same way that they help me .

NEW GENERATION EXCHANGE

Exchange of Carmen Florentin, 20 years.

Carmen is deaf-mute, from Paraguay, D4845. Their exchange of short duration was done with Norbrex, District No. 4500. Was the first Deaf to be

received in the 4500 district student.

Carmen spent 6 weeks with Rotarian host families. Interesting fact that the family had never had contact with people with hearing impared, and that

was no problem.

She did intership in communication and design, carried out projects with their host club and made good friends among the exchange students.

Before coming to Brazil, Carmen had done exchanges in Argentina, with a sister also deaf mute, who spent six months staying with the family of

Carmen in Paraguay.
