The European ETF industry had 1„353 ETFs, with 4„930 istings, assets of USD 382bn, from

44 provider on 23 exchanges.

ETF average daily trading volumes decreased by 9.7% from USD 2„941 Mn in September

2013 to USD 3„225 Mn in October 2013.

Of the 1„353 ETFs in Europe, 603 ETFs (44.6%) used physical replication while 742 ETFs

(54.8%) were synthetically replicated.

Asset fragmentation:

65.9% was held in physical ETFs (USD 252 Bn)

33.1% in synthetic ETFs (USD 127 Bn)

New trading segment sponsored funds

Launch of new trading segment on March 4, 2013

SIX Swiss Exchange in cooperation with Bank Julius Baer & Co. AG.

November 18, 2013: ZKB brings 18 new products to the stock market and

becomes second sponsor for the new segment.

The new segment is based on the directive “Sponsored Investment Funds” of

SIX Exchange Regulation which has been approved by FINMA in November

2012 and became effective as of February 1, 2013.

Participants of SIX Swiss Exchange (Sponsors) can submit a request for

admission to trading of investment funds and will then undertake several duties

such as market making and maintenance obligations.

Details to the new segment

Market Making obligations: maximal bid and ask spreads,

minimal volumes on both sides of the order book and minimal

time in the market (similar to ETFs).

Admission to trading is possible for investment funds which are

approved or authorised for sale in or out of Switzerland by the Swiss

Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA).

Explicitly excluded are: ETFs, ETSFs, Real Estate Funds. Not in

scope are also Hedge Funds, Side-Pockets and other

constructs.

Maintenance obligations include announcements of information

such as distributions, name changes or deprivation of FINMA

approval etc.

This new trading segment comprises over 300 products from more than 60 different fund

issuers

Trading hours: Opening 09:15h

continuous trading until 17:30h (no closing auction)

Market Model: Market Making Book (MMB), access via CTI Quotes

Multiple currencies per ISIN supported, multiple market makers per ISIN allowed (as Sponsor)

Settlement: via SIX Securities Services or Clearstream Luxemburg (T+3), no CCP
