EXCELLENCE IN TECHNOLOGY - DEFINITIONPLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING DEFINITION BEFORE COMPLETING YOUR APPLICATION FORM TO ENSURE YOU ARE SUBMITTING IN THE CORRECT CATEGORY.

To assist you with this application the judges have provided some guidelines.

When providing your answers, the “For Example” / guidelines we have suggested for each question are not intended to be exhaustive. They are designed as examples and prompts to help you understand the judges’ requirements. It is important that where you state that you have evidence in support of the specific question you are answering, you need to provide that evidence - usually, a generic brochure or company overview is not sufficient.

DEFINITON OF TECHNOLOGY

Nominations are open to any manufacturing company that has developed a new technology or has applied existing technology in a novel way that has increased sales, improved the productivity or increased the quality of its goods or services and positively impacted on safety due to the introduction of the new technology (provide evidence of these effects where possible).

The technology may be in partnership with a technology provider, but, the category is open only to the manufacturing company that employs those undertaking that technology.

The judges will look for examples of innovations in technology that include, but are not limited to, new invention, performance, technology development, process improvement and e-commerce or e-trading applications.

Note – This category is only eligible for companies who initially develop / employ the use of the new technology for internal process improvement.

It maybe that a new line of business / product can be offered externally from the new technology, however, the initial intent is to improve its own internal process.

Applicants may find that their application into the Excellence in Technology category may also be a 'fit' for another category, such as marketing, product design, innovation, manufacturing process, export etc.

By adapting the information to fit the criteria of other categories you give yourself the opportunity for your product, process, etc. to be profiled in more than one sector.

EACH OF THE LISTED CRITERIA MUST BE ADDRESSED AND WHERE POSSIBLE, EVIDENCE PROVIDED

THE HMA BOARD AWARD IS A DISCRETIONARY AWARD.

THE CRITERIA FOR THE HMA BOARD AWARD ARE BASED ON THE COLLECTIVE DATA FROM ALL OTHER SUBMISSIONS A COMPANY HAS ENTERED IN, EXCLUDING THE MANUFACTURER OF THE YEAR WHICH IS A SEPARATE NOMINATION SECTION.

ELIGIBILITY

COMPANIES NEED TO HAVE BEEN OPERATING FOR MORE THAN 18 MONTHS COMPANIES NEED TO SHOW THAT THEY ARE HEADING IN A DIRECTION THAT IS BOTH

POSITIVE AND VISIONARY IF THE JUDGE IS SATISFIED THAT A SUBMISSION IN ANY OF THE GENERAL CATEGORIES

Terms and Conditions regarding the 2019 HMA Board AwardThe winner of this Award will be rewarded with an overseas trip for ONE PERSON to a Trade Expo or event, pertinent to the winner's/ company's line of business. The trip is to take place between October 2019 and October 2019 and will be arranged through the HMA's "In Kind" Travel Sponsors, helloworld Business Travel - Newcastle. The prize covers the cost of 1 economy class return airfare inclusive of taxes and insurance with Qantas Airways (Sydney-Destination-Sydney), plus $2,000 towards accommodation and incidental costs. As a follow up to the trip, a report is to be submitted (within one month of returning from the trip) to the HMA Board of Directors. The report should demonstrate the benefits and impact of the trip on the person and/or company. The information will be used by HMA to profile and promote future Awards and will be posted on the HMA website to highlight the successful outcomes achieved by winning such a prize. The Winner may also be requested to speak at one of the HMA's future events to share the experience of such a trip with other manufacturers. Nominations are open to any manufacturing company that has made an application for an award in at least one or a number of the 2019 listed award general categories - SAFETY, PEOPLE SKILLS AND DEVELOPMENT, ENVIRONMENTAL, PRODUCT DESIGN, INNOVATION, MANUFACTURING PROCESS, TECHNOLOGY, MARKETING, EXPORT.
