What kind of food does the Florida Sand-Hill Cranes

eat?• Cranes aren`t picky eaters.• They eat roots, plants, seeds, bugs, and

even snakes, mice, and other animals.• They eat almost anything they can catch.

Where and what kind of nests do Florida Sand-Hill Cranes build?

• Their nests are built in the middle of the wetlands where mammals are unlikely to go to eat the egg.

• The nest is made of plants piled several feet high and about three feet across.

What is their family life like?

• Cranes mate for their life too.• But they are like if one of the mate is killed or

died they find a new mate.• Just like all the human do.

How are the Florida Sand-Hill Cranes becoming endangered?

• The Cranes have become endangered because the prairies are being taken over by people.

• We build cities on these praries and we plow them under to grow our farm crops.

• Luckily ,we have enough prairies left that they are not extinct.

What are the habitat of the Florida Sand-Hill Cranes?

• Sand-Hill Cranes lives in the grasslands, and they feed in grain fields and pastures.

• In Washington, they builded their nest in wetlands in areas that are surrounded by Lodge- pole Pine, Ponderosa Pine, Grand Fir, or Douglas Fir forests.

• During winter they lives in, agricultural fields, and river valleys. Sand-Hill Cranes prefer to live in habitats where they have clear views of their surroundings.
