BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF MYSELF. Born in a small family of five and leads a simple life has really taught me, Mohamad Haiqal Hazwan bin Madzian how significant it is to be a knowledgeable person in order to survive in this competitive world. On 5th of November 1993 at Hospital Sultanah Aminah, I was born. My respected father, Madzian bin Rahmat and my lovely mother, Nik Hasni binti Nik Mahmod, are both high school teachers. Being the eldest of three siblings, I have always been taught to be independent and to love both my younger brother and sister equally. Living in a small and discrete town of Simpang Renggam, Kluang, Johor for about 10 years, I adore the simple life in a small town.

I received my formal primary education at SK Sri Petaling, Petaling Jaya from 2000 until 2001 before moving to SK Dato Onn Jaafar since 2002 until I sat for my UPSR in 2005. My UPSR result was excellent which was 5As. As for to the superb achievement, I was offered to continue my studies at SM Sains Johor, Kluang-a cluster school. In 2006, I started my secondary school life in this prestigious institution. In 2008, I sat for my PMR and successfully maintained my perfect achievement by getting 8As.Then, I was placed in a good Science-stream class in Form 4 and Form 5. My trial examination result was also flamboyant in which I obtained 5A+s, 3As and 2A-s. And for my SPM, praise to Allah, I got a sparkling results of 6A+s and 4As. Now, it is proven that my academic performances are consistent and always tip-top.

At school, I was among hundreds of bright students from all edges of Malaysia. This need hard work and big forbearances to stay in front. However, despite all the hardships I needed to face, I managed to shine as the schools promising gem in all aspects. In addition for the splendid academic performance, I did well in extra-curricular affairs. In the field of sports

and games, I was my sport houses gold medal prospect in long-distance runs like 400m, 800m, 1500m and cross country. I contributed a new school record in long-distance run and grabbed bronze medal in the MSSD championship. In the uniform bodies, I was the active member of the Fire Brigade and Rescuer Cadet. My highest achievement in this field was when the schools team managed to won the first runner-up in the Johor Fire Brigade and Rescuer Cadet Foot Drill Competition 2008.

However, my achievements in clubs and societies were far better. I participated in the International Star Gazing and Space Camp 2010, Malaysia and Indonesia Regional Pedagogy Course 2010, became the only Johores representative in the Pidato Piala Diraja Competition 2009 and 1Malaysia Pidato Competition 2010. I was also an outstanding Bahasa Malaysia debater and represented SM Sains Johor in various debate tournaments at national level. Other than that, I participated in the SBP Kebangsaan Career Carnival and The Star-RHB State Level Mighty Minds Challenge 2010. Besides, I also participated in many leadership programs such as the SBP Kebangsaan House Captain Leadership Course 2010.

My role as a leader should not be underestimated. I was chosen as the Head Prefect in my primary school. In SM Sains Johor, I cultivated my leadership skills when I became the school prefect since Form 2 and later on as the Secretariat of the Board of Prefect. I also became the President of Suria House, President of the Bahasa Melayu Debating Club, Vice President of the Computer Club, the Secretary of Bahasa Melayu Society, the Secretary of Pembimbing Rakan Sebaya (PRS), the committee member of Badan Dakwah and Rohani and also as the Prefect Dorm Leader at the boys hostel. Elsewhere, I hold the position of AJK Fire Drill in Fire Brigade and Rescuer Cadet, the Secretary of the Chess Club and an active member of the Athletic Club. I was selected to hold these positions due to my high self-confidence, the ability to speak out my ideas in front of the people without fears and my skills in persuading

others. Proven, although I was extremely busy in many aspects throughout the year, I was still capable of managing my schedule systematically and coped with stress excellently until I gained huge success all around.

HIGHER EDUCATION PLAN

As I grow up, I am greatly influenced with medical fields due to many reasons. So, I become interested to be a doctor and anything related to medical fields. In 2009, my friends and I conducted a research about cardiology-related diseases at the famous National Heart Institute (IJN). After we had a long talk with one of the Malay cardiothoracic experts there, my determination was set up. I will become Malaysias most well-known Malay cardiothoracic expert like him one day!

Why do I set my heart to study medic so much? One of the reasons is because I love to learn Biology and Life Science very much. I am very interested to learn about living things, human bodies, the organs, the bones structure, the hormonal activities and also the body mechanisms. It makes me feel closer to the mighty Creator instead of just stunned by the miracles of our bodies. As for me, being a doctor is not only about giving exact treatments to the patients. It comprises the duties to educate people about the importance of maintaining good health and the significances of being free from any diseases. It is also a doctors responsibility to ensure that the societies realize about the dangers and risks of various diseases and illnesses thus providing helps to prevent those illnesses.

My greatest weakness is that I may easily sympathize when I look at those unlucky people who suffer chronic diseases no matter children, adolescents, or even the elders. I will feel a sudden yearn to help them in any ways so that they can enjoy their precious life as I am

enjoying mine. As a caring and loving member of this big society, no one will care if I need to sacrifice my time ,24 hours a day, 7 days a week when I can save the lives of the ill-fated patients? Being a doctor is such a noble job. The earning is profitable too. But yet, the thing I seek the most by being a doctor is the pleasure to treat sick people.

I wish and set a high hope that one day I will be able to enter the University of Auckland, New Zealand. The Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences in that university is a large and dynamic faculty. It is rated in the top 1% biomedical universities in the world. This university is established as one of the best universities in this globe. The proof is that the University of Auckland was ranked 47th among the worlds best Clinical, Pre-clinical and Health universities according to the Times Higher Education World University Ranking for the year 2010 and 2011 plus recognition for being the best university in New Zealand. The Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences aims to improve the health and wellbeing of the local, national and global communities through excellence in teaching, research and service. Over the past three years they have opened the award winning AMRF Medical Sciences Learning Centre, seen significant enhancement of their Advanced Clinical Skills Centre at Mercy Ascot Hospital, and commissioned a suite of new teaching rooms and a large integrated teaching facility. In 2009, the faculty opened the Centre for Brain Research, one of the largest neuroscience research facilities in the Southern Hemisphere.

FUTURE CAREER PROSPECT.

To show how deep my interest is in this field, I have even sketched and imagined myself 15 years ahead. In the first 6 to 7 years hopefully starting from next year, I will undergo foundations in medical course before continuing my degree in medic. After that, I will receive

my first class degree in medic, the MB ChB, which is awarded to medical graduates in New Zealands universities.

MB ChB stands for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. As a fresh potential graduate, I will serve my country either with the government or any private medical centre in order to complete my fellowship and housemanship training. Then, I will do my Masters in medic, but this time I will specialized in cardiology to pursue my dream of being a cardiologist for another 2 or 3 years. Upon completion, I will become an expert doctor in cardiology or maybe cardiothoracic and serve at the National Heart Institute (IJN). I promised myself to be loyal to my beloved home country and to serve my people no matter how difficult it will be.

I am here ready to be recruited as the first Malay and Muslim doctor to become a respected cardiology expert not only in my country but also worldwide. Therefore, I would like to respond to the need of 1 doctor for 500 citizens by 2020 as stated by the government via Health Informatics Centre Planning and Development Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia. As the population grows and technologies evolve, the demand for medical expert will always there. By then, Dr. Mohamad Haiqal Hazwan bin Madzian, will be there to ease the burden.

WRITTEN BY: Mohamad Haiqal Hazwan Bin Madzian 25th of April 2011.

EXAMPLE 2

My name is Mohd Amirul bin Hamudin. I graduated my primary school from Sekolah Kebangsaan Serdang. I have excelled in my PMR with a result of flying colour in SMK Seri Serdang besides become an active student by joining fireman cadet, school teen cadet, badminton club, indoor games club and held an important position in some of the clubs. After that I moved to a new school, MRSM Tun Ghaffar Baba which is a boarding school in order to have a new experience an become a more independent person. In this new school I want to do something difference than myself in previous school, so I join election committee, silat cekak ustaz hanafi, naqib, badminton club and youth entrepreneur club. As a potential student when you give the opportunity, I will strive to be a tremendous asset to MARA by devoting all my time and life to becoming an excellent medical student. I believe that I am obligated to use my talents in a constructive manner, in a manner that benefits society. The medical career gives me the unique opportunity to express my many talents while benefiting human life. This will improve the living style for peoples in our country as they can get better service regarding health matter. While I possess the strong science background necessary for success in the profession, I also consider myself a "people" person. As an active student in my previous school, I dramatically improved and expanded my communication skills since I was constantly meeting new people and discussing different topics. Because people constantly disclosed their personal issues related to religion to me as I was a naqib, I learned to become not only a good conversationalist, but also an excellent listener. Highly motivated to succeed, I dramatically improved my PNG from 3.01 to 3.50 in first semester of 2006. After that my PNG never lies below than 3.50. Once I realized what goal I wanted to pursue in life, I worked hard to succeed, and my remaining 1 and half a year of schooling are truly indicative of my intellectual capacity and motivation for success. My strength as a candidate to MARA scholarship lies mostly in the objectives that I plan to fulfill upon becoming a doctor. If I were given the chance to choose the place to further my study, it will be nice if MARA place me in KMB to do international baccalaureate. After that, I want to do medical course in IUMC Ireland. I have been diligent in my pursuit of medicine as a career because I am convinced that medicine offers me the opportunity to live in a fulfilling, rewarding life dedicated to helping others. I will enter medicine eager to learn and thirsting for the knowledge to help my fellow human being.

Becoming one of the MARAs scholarships holder would be one of the greatest rewards for my motivation and persistence for success. I swear to uphold and exceed all that is expected of a future medicine student while promoting the progress of medicine and humanity. Therefore, I will help in make Malaysia becoming a develop country. After success in becoming a doctor, I want to work with the government because I want to help the shortage of doctor crisis in our country. Besides that, this is also an excellent way of learning as a new doctor, because in public hospital or clinic, I can meet with a large number of patient everyday. This will sharpen n strengthen my skill as a doctor. After a few years, continue my study is a must as I want to become a specialist in urology. By doing this, I also fulfill the MARA objective to produce more Malay professional in our beloved country.

EXAMPLE 4 Winners never quit, quiters never win. I always hold to that quote in every single thing that I do. I work so hard in aiming or achieving something. My past has taught me that I have to wake up from my falling. Striving towards excellence will always be my objective now and forever. Well, that is me, Nurul Aiza Amira Binti Mohd Fadzli. 26 December 1993 was the lucky day for my family because I was born on that day. I was born at Hospital Besar Mentakab, Pahang. Born as the second child of 4 siblings in my family, I have always been taught to be a responsible sister, kind-hearted, an optimistic, honest and determined person. From I was in years 4, I realize that my parents always place a big hope upon me to succeed in my entire life. That was because I always got the best result in every test and examination from I was in years 1 until years 6. My family is not classified as rich but we always happy with our life and lived simply. My father work as a teacher and same goes to my mother. They worked as teachers for 20 years. I always told to myself that I wanted to change our life to a better life. I finished my primary school years with 4A and 1B in my UPSR. My parents were not satisfied with my result because they hope that I could get full As in my examination. From that moment, I only got offer to continue my study in SMK Seri Jengka. Eventhough the school is a famous and brilliant boarding school, but I actually hope that I could continue my study in any SEKOLAH BERASRAMA PENUH (SBP). However, I knew that it was impossible thing because I only got 4As in my examination. So, I enrolled myself as usual at the school. I determined to prove to my parents that I could become an excellent student one day. Failed once does not mean failure forever. I believe on this quote. Finally, I got flying colours for my PMR result. I got 9As and my parents were so happy and proud of me. Praise to God. I have learnt the importance of trustworthy in friendship, family, God, self and how do all the values related each others. I also got ANUGERAH MENTERI BESAR PAHANG for my achievement. An intelligent mind always in a healthy body. My mother always said this to me. Actually, I am not an active student when I was in my primary school. I only involve myself in sports when I was in primary six. I play badminton and netball after my parents ask me to do so. I only active in Nasyid and story telling started in years 2. When I was in Form 1, I realize that I could not involve in story telling only but I have to be an active student in sports also. Start from that moment, I always followed my friends and play netball every evening. When my teacher asked me to go for the selection, I play my best and finally I was selected to join my school team. From that moment, I used this advantage to perform my best skill to go further in this sport. Praise to God because I got the chance to represent the district to state level in netball tournament. I showed my best in every tournament Ive joined.

Besides that, I also joined any camp for Girls Scout Unit. I was selected again to represent my distric to state level for this camp. My luck came on me when I won the first prize for marching contest. This camp had taught me that cooperation was very essential in order for us to get our goals in anything we dream about. As a dedicated student, I have chosen to participate in state-level for anti-drug camp that was held at Lata Jarum, Raub. Standing in front of others student that also joined this camp had taught me on how to overcome the crowdfears. Finally, I managed to fulfill my dreams to continue my study in SEKOLAH BERASRAMA PENUH (SBP). I went to Kolej Islam Sultan Alam Shah when I was in Form 4. I believe on myself that I could achieve my goals if I struggle and do my best. I perfomed as peer counselor in my school. This position made me more motivated to change myself to a better student. By this position, I have to be a good adviser and also a good listener. I put this position as a challenge to me and also as a motivator to change myself better. In line with our moto Help themselves to help others. I am also a person who like to try a new thing. I love music but unfortunately I have to drop my involvement as a Nasyid members because there was no girls team in my school. So, when my teachers asked students for Gamelan team, I determined to take part in this team. I had to compete with other students to remain in this team. So, I do my best and finally my teacher choose me as Gong player. When I was in Form 5, my mother forbade me from involved in any competition because I have to sit for my SPM that year. So, I only focus on my study and try to improve my weaknesses in every subject. I am happy with my trial result because I got 7A 3B IC but I knew that I could do better for my SPM. I struggled to achieve my goals. Eventhough I was in the last class, but I could prove to my teachers that I also can achieve 11A in my SPM. Praise to God because gave me the brilliant and happiness result to me. Once again I made my parents proud of me when I got 2A+ 6A 3A- in my SPM. My senior remind me to apply for MARA scholarship. From the encouragement by my family and also my teachers, I applied for MARA scholarship. Whenever people asked me for my further study, I just said that I love to continue my account subject and also Syariah. So, I applied Islamic Banking course which is related to Syariah subject. I always asked my cousin who also study in this course to explain me about Islamic Banking course. Besides that, I do some research about this course to make me more understand before I continue in university. If I am selected for the scholarship by MARA, I determined to study hard and prove that I can succeed in this course.

To further my view of future, I plan to continue my study in Yarmouk University in Jordan. The primary reason for why I choose this university was that because of its excellent academic performance. It will be nice if I can fulfill my dream to study there. I hope MARA can make my dream into reality.

For my career planning, I wish I can be one of the Shariah Advisory Council at Bank Negara Malaysia. This job is responsible to advise on matters in relation to Islamic banking and takaful businesses or any other Islamic finance area that is supervised and regulated by BNM. So, I really hope that MARA can give me the chance to prove that I can be one of the member of Shariah Advisory Council.

EXAMPLE 5

Dr. Ammar that is what people will address me someday. Inspired by one of the Islamic history famous figures, my parents named me Ammar Bin Mohamad Ziyadi who was born on 12th August 1991 at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kelantan, when my father was a medical officer. Now, he is Associate Prof Dr Mohamad Ziyadi Bin Ghazali, a cardiologist. My beloved mother, Nor Haliza Binti Ghazali is a full-time hardworking housewife who takes good care of our family of six . MARA Junior Science College Pengkalan Chepa was my secondary school before I further my studies in Faculty of Medicine at Mansoura University in Egypt. Presently, I am a second year student there. At MJSC Pengkalan Chepa, I was elected School Representative Council heading the Cultural and Heritage bureau. As the SRC member, I was entrusted to manage events and care for the welfare of students. During my tenure, I dealt with school administration, teachers and friends as well as managed myself in carrying out my duties. Apart from that, I was also the President of MJSC PCs Orchestra Club. My involvement in this club really challenged my ability to manage my time as for every musical performance hours of practice were put in besides the regular weekly practices. To ensure that I had chosen the correct career path, I joined Red Crescent Society and was also

elected President of this uniform body. Here, I learnt first-aid and other beginner medical skills. RCS also reassured me of my professional career choice as I was exposed to the field here. To further learn about medical field, I participated in the Young Doctors Programmer which was held at Hospital University Sains Kubang Kerian. I am exposed to the a doctors life since I was little by my family members; my father who is an associate professor at HUSM Kubang Kerian and my uncle, Dr who is a specialist in . at Sultanah Zainab General Hospital in Kota Bharu. During my school breaks, my father often brought me to the hospital he worked at to expose me to the hospitals environment. I also believe that studying medicine is a chance for me to strengthen my bond with Allah as I will be learning about His best creation, human beings, just like other Islamic scholars before me. Studying in Faculty of Medicine at Mansoura University is a stepping stone to bring me closer to Allah. My choice of university is also accurate as the director of Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Dr Zaidun Kamari is also a graduate of this prestigious institute. Apart from lectures and practical classes, I also participated in the clinical training organised by the universitys hospital during the previous winter break. It was an unforgettable experience as I was given the chance to enter the operation theatre of the Urology Department and witnessed operations performed by doctors from other countries. The hospitals environment is also different compared to ours. I completed my first year of undergraduate studies with good results and succeeded to the second year. By getting a loan from MARA, I hope that I can put myself through the next 5 years of study for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBcH) without any financial handicap. I will also take this chance to study Islamic knowledge and ethics of a Muslim doctor with hope that I could become a good Muslim doctor. My exposure to Islamic medical practices will give me the opportunities to find solutions to nonhalal medications which are not suitable and prescribed to Muslim patients nowadays. Clexane, for example, which is used to prevent blood clotting contains pig ingredients but it could actually be replaced with heparin which has similar effect yet halal and less expensive. After finishing my undergraduate studies, I will undergo housemanship at any local government hospitals for at least three years. Then, I will study for my Master as a postgraduate student to be a specialist for another three to four years and later Ph.D preferably in United Kingdom. I wish to be a specialist in neonatology because I would like to learn more about the development of human being. After that, I would give my service to Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, which is one of the best research hospitals in our country.

To fulfill MARAs objective to produce more Malay professionals for our beloved country, I would definitely study very hard to attain this for not only I will be contributing to the nation but also myself, my beloved family and the most important to the Malays.

EXAMPLE 6

Before I was born, my parents knew that my name is Arlina Binti Arshad, they had picked that name before my mum even pregnant. My whole family was hoping for a baby girl because they already raised a tomboyish daughter and three mischievous rascals which were my brothers. On 19th July 1991, I was born at Klinik Shambi, Kuala Lumpur, or my mother called it, the day where God gave them the special gift. Currently, I am living in Subang Jaya, Selangor. The real me was portrayed when I joined Mara Junior Science College (MJSC). When I was in my old school, I used to be a quiet girl who enjoyed reading books, invisible, unknown and only have small circle of friends. Things changed when I entered MJSC. Fortunately, the activities in MJSC such as language week (Minggu Bahasa) unleashed the real Arlina. After trying out for auditions, I realized that I have a knack in drama, but I can also be an excellent debater. Starting from that, I joined countless activities that require my skills such as, acting, debating, writing and many more. A lot of people asked me, why I want to be a doctor instead of any other jobs that require good command in English language since people see English language as my strength, my answer is simple, medicine is much more challenging and I love challenge, plus I get to learn about human, about me Therefore, I would really love to continue my study doing International Baccalaureate (IB) in Mara College Banting. I choose IB diploma, not A level or foundation because The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Furthermore, IB has more subject and activities, thus it makes this course even more challenging.Even though there are few institutions offer IB but then, Mara College Banting had produced worlds best students in IB examination. In addition, their college life style is completely different from other colleges. Mara College Banting does not only stress on education but they strengthen our faith towards God by encourage the students pray together at surau, and other Islamic activities. Im sure there are no other colleges offer these kinds of life style. As for degree, the university that caught my attention is Queen Mary, University of London. Of course, after obtaining my degree I will pursue my career by being a hardworking and dedicated paediatric cardiac surgeon as that is my path that I choose to help people in my own ways, especially kids. I believe by being a doctor, Ill end up with a job that will make me appreciate life even more because as a doctor, definitely Ill encounter a person with no legs, cancer, or blind. Furthermore, I got to learn about our body, the miracles of science, and the perfection of Gods creation. Thus, it makes me closer to God even more. I will also get a job that more than just a job.

EXAMPLE 7

ME, MY EDUCATION AND CAREER PLANNING Born and named as Khairun Nurlisa binti Kamal, I am the first cute daughter of Kamal bin Abdul Hamid and Norazlin binti Md. Isa. I was born on November 12th, 1991 in Penang. Right now, I am already 17 and going to turn 18 years old this coming November. I stayed with my family in Kulim, a small town in southern Kedah. I am the eldest sister among three siblings. I had a younger brother and a younger sister. My father works as a technician and my mother is a fulltime housewife. I started my primary education at SK Pangkalan TLDM 2, Lumut, Perak during my father was still in his service as a Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN). Then, when we moved to Kulim, I continued my study in SK Taman Kenari, Kulim. During the year 2003, I took the UPSR examination and I passed with flying colours to score 5As. I furthered my lower secondary education at SMK Sultan Badlishah, Kulim and in the year 2006, Ive been listed as one of the best student after I got 8As in PMR examination. After obtaining a good result in PMR, I was offered to carry on my upper secondary education at MARA Junior Science College Kubang Pasu, Kedah. I took my SPM in the year 2008 and as a result, I got straight 9As. Proven, I am a very consistent and determined student in achieving my entire target in every examination that Ive taken. Stepping into MJSC Kubang Pasu, it truly gave me a possibility to polish my talent, my abilities and my potential to become a versatile student. Being one of College Prefect Boards Exco, has exposed me to become a strong leader that full of professional leadership qualities and readily to face any challenges after Ive attended the Malaysian Institute of Integritys Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Rebung 2007 Programme at MJSC Alor Gajah, Melaka. Besides, I also involved in the Youth Forum Team and represented the college during the Inter-MJSC Language Week held at MJSC Transkrian, Penang. By joining this team, I could gain and build up my selfconfidence in giving speeches and share my ideas with others. At the same time, I also hold the position Vice President of College Girl Ranger and participated in the Inter-MJSC Girl Ranger Camp. This shows that I am a student that is compatible with many kinds of activities either curricular or co-curricular activities. Although I was busy and getting active in those activities, yet I was still able to divide and manage my time efficiently. In addition of my examination

result that is always consistent; I was a recipient of the Principals List of Merit for 4 semesters consecutively and graduated as First Class from MJSC Kubang Pasu. Why I really insist to pursue my study in dentistry? Since I was small, I always aspired to become a dentist when I grow up. I got many compelling reasons why I choose dentist as my future career. Dentist belongs to one of the best profession, mainly responsible for people life. I love to help needy people. So, by being a dentist, I can serve to the people and help those people in improving their oral health, as well as quality of life and their appearance. It is really a great satisfaction for me if I can lend a hand to help people especially the poor, the disabled people and the elderly. Furthermore, dentistry is a dynamic health profession that provides a great job prospect in the future since currently there are insufficient dentist available in Malaysia to provide adequate oral care to its population. The demand for dental care is projected to grow as baby boomers age, they will continue to need preventive services and require maintenance on existing dental work. As in Malaysia, the current ratio is 1: 10 000 which means one dentist to 10,000 people. The country hopes to achieve a ratio of 1: 4,000 in 2020. Undoubtedly, there is a high demand for dentist. In addition, a dentist is usually not required to be on call at night or to make house calls. Thus, it is easier for dentist to attain a perfect balance between their personal and professional lives. As for medicines that have so many areas of specialization, so do dentistry. The areas of specialization in dentistry including oral surgery, orthodontics, endodontics, forensic dentistry and community dentistry. Ive decided to continue my study regarding dentistry in Manipal University, India. For the dental students, this established university has provided their own college known as The Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal. It was the first self financing dental college in the private sector in India. Established in the year 1965, it initially had an intake of 40 students that was later increased to 100 admissions from 1983-84 onwards. Apart form The Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal, this university also have another dental college situated in Mangalore known as The Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore. This college was established in the year 1987. It is situated in the heart of the city besides the Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore at Light House Hill Road. This college is approved and recognized by the Dental Council of India in the year 1992. It has also been accredited by NAAC and recognized by Malaysian Dental Council. Besides that, the college has excellent infrastructure facilities with adequate dental chairs and latest state of the art of dental equipments. All the latest dental materials for various clinical procedures are available for student use. Regarding the teaching faculty, they are full time staff with excellent teaching and clinical experience. There is a centrally air conditioned library, Lecture Halls, audio-visual aids like LCD. etc. are used for teaching purposes. The college also undertakes dental camps in

rural areas for teaching purposes. Transport is provided from the hostel to the teaching places. So, it would be easier for me whenever I attend the class everyday. There is also an excellent ambience for studies and recreation. Thus, in my opinion, Manipal University is a great choice for me to continue my study in dentistry. Just like a typical dental student, each student must have a very good and strong basic regarding pure science subject respectively, especially Biology. Science subjects especially Biology is the most subject Ive interested with. Since the intake to fill this course is quite competitive, I must achieve good result in all my examinations. Basically, it will take at about 56 years to finish up my study in the dental course before I can become a doctor and got the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). All fresh dental graduates are compulsory required to work for the Ministry of Health for three to five years. On completion, I can either choose to continue my career in the public health services, work in the Ministry of Defence or Institute of Medical Research. Not only that, I also can set up my own dental practice, work in the private sector or become academician. I can even become a dental officer by continuing my studies in master for about three to five years and be one of the specialists in oral surgery. Hence, dentist in Malaysia will have many career pathways undertaken with this degree. This is all about me, my education and career planning if I took dentistry as my primary choice to further my study. Despite of deep interest in this field, dentistry also serve a lot of golden opportunity in Malaysia, especially in the future. This job is not only about making money, but also mainly about how to improve my race level in this modernity lives. As this field is less monopolized by the Malay bumiputras, I think Ive had the responsibility to help my own people. I will surely do anything to achieve my goals. Moreover, dentistry will be one of rewarding career and surely people will start to look for a chance to get to know more about it.

EXAMPLE 8 ME, MY EDUCATION AND CAREER PLANNING My name is Muhammad Safuan Bin Sabri, the proud fourth son of Mr Sabri Bin Hashim and Mdm Dahaga Binti Yaakub. Born on 27 Mac 1992 at Hospital Alor Setar, I am the youngest son with 3 older brothers. I stay with my family at Jitra, a very serene town located far to the north of Kedah. My father is a lecturer working at The Asian Institute of Medicine, Science and Technology (AIMST), Bedong and my mother is the Kedah State Nursing Officer (Medical Program). I completed my primary school at one of the elite institute in this area, Sekolah

Kebangsaan Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin - a cluster school. During the year 2004, I sat for UPSR examination and scored 5As. I pursued my studies in lower secondary level at another cluster school, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jitra and in the year 2007, I was awarded with Quality Academic Excellency for scoring straight 8As in PMR. I was offered to pursue my upper secondary level at Integrated Boarding School of Kubang Pasu, Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah. I sat for SPM examination in the year 2009 and I got straight 9A+, for which I am the only student at my school who scored all A+. Although I am required to face new environments, mainly to be transferred into the hostels and be occupied with various kinds of cocurriculum activities, but I had proved myself that I am capable to excel in academic fields by achieving my targets in every examination.

Studying at SBPI Kubang Pasu really gave me real challenges in cocurriculum to make me into a brilliant learner, outstanding leader and all-rounded student. I am the President of Friends Guidance Organisation or literally Pembimbing Rakan Sebaya (PRS), the President of a public speaking club namely Orators League, the Treasurer of Red Crescent Society, the Secretary of Mathematics Society, etc. These posts helped me to emerge as a responsible leader who can manage the teamwork among my friends very well other than enhancing my disciplines in time managements. I also participated in the Leadership Camp of Friends Guidances Organisarion (PRS) SBP National Level, Red Crescent Society Camp, 8th Interschool Debating Championship 2009 etc. which polished my communication skills and proved that to be an excellent student, I had to excel in both academics and cocurriculums. I can muster up my courage and increase the confident level so that it is easier for me to throw out my opinions in sharing my ideas in a group. Futhermore, it is crucial for me to maintain the balance between cocurriculum and academic, and to show that I am always consistent; I was awarded with Academic Award Achievement every single year in primary and secondary school, obtaining merit in Malaysian National Chemistry Quiz (K3M), scoring 9A1 in trial SPM, and being one of the 255 candidates who scored all A+ in every subjects taken for SPM.

To become a doctor is my dream in my whole precious life. Why it is so? For me, happiness in health is something that can not be obtained by a mere sum of money. There are more people out there, who suffered from various kinds of dreadful diseases such as the incurable Spinocerrebullar Ataxia, lung cancer and kidney failure. My weakness is, I can not stand myself to see those people who in need of medical care suffering. To assist them in the way I can, is a satisfaction for me. I am gladly pleased if I can serve my own people to achieve a more stable, well-managed quality of life especially for the poor, the disables and elders. The doctors are noble because they are willingly to sacrifice most of their leisure time to help those who need

them and thus, they will continue to enhance the citizens health by means of new methodology in diagnosis and practically instill health awareness in the community. These statements are supported by the report from Health Facts 2008 by Health Informatics Centre Planning and Development Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia, in Human Resources part saying that ratio of number of doctors to patients is 1 : 1 105. Government hopes that the ratio will be reduced to 1 : 500 by the year 2020, making the doctor profession is greatly demanded right now. In addition, less number of bumiputera is involved in this crucial field, so I am called to answer the summons from the government in order to increase the number of Malay specialists in medicine.

I hope to continue my study doing medicine at one of the most prestigious country that promises to shape a great doctor, Ireland. 'The education system in Ireland is one of the best in the world', in 2007, Independent IMD World Competitiveness Report stated that Irish education is of the highest international quality. In 15 January 1971, a number of institutions are recognized by Ministry of Health, Malaysia in teaching medicine, including Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland and University of Dublin. I have decided to continue my study in Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (RCSI). The international aspects of RCSI truly amazed me. During the South African Aphartheid, for example, RCSI provided medical education to those that were discriminated against. I really salute RCSI for having such a wide aspect and not narrowing the chances of medical education to the selected only. Other than that, RCSI is equipped with various sophisticated, latest teaching equipments in medical and as a modern country, their technologies in medicine are brilliant. In my opinion, I am pleased if I got the opportunity to learn their way of handling the technologies, and later after I graduated, I will go back to my beloved country, Malaysia in order to improve the status of medicine by means of serving my own races and people. There are also various facilities, hostels, the uses of LCD, full time staff and dedicated lecturers available. Furthermore, RCSI had very wide perspectives in methodology of teaching. In 2007, RCSI in conjunction with Valentia Technologies, the Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB), and the Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) launched unique training initiative with the Emergency Medical Services Dubai Training Institute. The aim is to better patient care and improve response times within Dubai's emergency ambulance services.

Just like other fields, medicine has various specializations including Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology (O&G), Orthopedics, Pathology etc. For me, I am interested to do Cardiology as the number of cardiologist as reported by IJN is poorly low in our own country. Basically, it will take at about 5-6 years to finish up my study in the medical course before I can become a doctor and got the Bachelor of Medicine (BM). All fresh graduates are required to work for the Ministry of

Health for 2 to 5 years, including doing postings in Houseman-ship. On completion, I can continue my career in the public health services. Not only that, I can also take Master degree, doing specialization in cardiology for about 3-4 years, and continuously serve in the government hospital aiding our own people. I had no interest to serve at others countries because I pay attention to our nation more compared to the high salary offered by them. So, there are various options after I got the Bachelor in Medicine in Malaysia.

This is all about me, my education and career planning if I took medicine as my primary choice to further my study. For me, money comes second after the satisfactory of treating the patients. I am thrilled to improve my race population in this field before it is monopolized by others as Malays should be the force to be reckoned with. I realize my responsibility in it and people will see that doctor is a great job worth to be.

EXAMPLE 9

Introduction Dr. Nur Hafiza that is what people will address me one day. My full name is Nur Hafiza Binti Hasan Ganny. My previous school wasSMKA Maahad Hamidiah, Kajang, Selangor. I am the second of seven in my family. I turn seventeen in last October and becoming eighteen inthis October. My father, Hasan Ganny Hanif Francis is a chief executive officer in Time Quantam Technology Snd. Bhd. and my mother, Rohayati Binti Mohd. Junid is a teacher in SMKA Maahad Hamidiah. I have a brother which now still doing his foundation course in MalaysiaFrance Institute and 3 little sisters, two of them in secondary school, one in primary school. Two little brothers, one of them in secondary schooland the other one is in kindergarten. Education I studied in SK Subang Jaya from 1997 until 1999 and then, I continue my primary education in Arous al-Bahr international school for six month in Saudi Arabia. Next, I studied in SK Kajang Utama from 2000 until 2002 and manage to get 5As for my UPSR examination. I hadmy secondary education in SMKA Maahad Hamidiah from form 1 until form 5. For my PMR examination I got 9As while for my SPM examination, I got 12 1A and 1 2A. Contribution I joined several activities held by my school and represented my school in several competition. I am vice president of the netball club and joinedthe public speaking society in 2006. I am one of the team who represented the club to the debate competition held in school and managed to getsecond place. I also represented the school in ping- pong competition in district level and my team was qualified to the semi-finals. During 2007,I was the co-editor of the school magazine crew (al- Mustaqim). I am also a librarian prefect that year. I joined the tennis club and the library cluband I was the treasurer for both of the club. I represented the school to the badminton competition in district level and the Gerak Gempur Anti-Dadah Marathon. Other activities were Biology Quiz and Student Environment Awareness Camp in 2006, Bahasa Malaysia Literature Quiz,Science National Challenge, Chemistry National Quiz, Physic National Quiz in 2007. My school awarded me with Anugerah KhasKorurikulum for the co-curricular activities I joined and Anugerah Pengetua for excellent achievement in academic. Education plan and future career I want to be a specialist in obstetrics and gnaecology or a pediatrician. Obstetrician and gynecologist are specialists who deal withfemale reproductive organs, pregnancy and

childbirth. There are many simple and logical reasons why I and some of us choose to be one. For me,it is not just because of interest and compassion only but because it is a responsibility. We know that nowadays, there are not enough doctors inMalaysia as the ratio of doctors to patients are 1:1300. Thus, the occupation as a doctor is always available as the number of population variesfrom time to time. In my opinion, I as a Muslim have to fulfill this responsibility to reduce the ratio of doctors to patient and increase the number of female obstetrician and gynecologist as nowadays, there are quite a number of male obstetricians and gynecologists. Patients may feeluncomfortable when dealing with male obstetricians and gynecologists because they have to reveal their intimate part of body to them. So, as aMuslim who is capable, passionate and have the courage to deal with the risk of being obstetrician and gynecologist, I feel it is my responsibilityto be one. Who else if it is not me who should fulfill the responsibility? .Having the courage, strong ambition and compassion in myself puts meinto fulfilling it. After doing some research on universities and the flow of my future education, I plan to continue my studies in Egypt as anundergraduate student in medical and have a degree in this field for five years. Before that, I have to attend three month of Arabic languagefoundation in INTEC or selected local institute. I will attend to the university that will be offered to me which is determined by the authorities. Some renowned universities sponsored by JPA and MARA in Egypt are Cairo University, Alexandria University and Mansoura University. CairoUniversity is among the best world-rank medical university so, that is my target university. After five years of studying medical, I will have towork at any government hospitals for at least three years before I can have my Master as a postgraduate student to be a specialist in certain field.I plan to take Master of obstetrics and gnaecology (MObGyn) in local university for about three to four years. University of Malayaand Universiti Sains Malaysia are among the best local medical universities which provide further education for medical postgraduate students. Ichoose to have my Master in local university as I soon will work for my country so; I will be exposed to the real situation and the kind of patientthat I will soon deal with. Furthermore, our universities do have their own specialty and do become the attraction to the foreign students from thewhole world. After I got my Master in obstetrics and gnaecology, I plan to work at the hospital where I was born in, SJMC, Subang Jaya MedicalCentre or maybe in any hospital which has insufficient obstetrician and gnaecologist. I plan to save huge amount of money so that one day, I canopen my own medical centre. This may sound too ambitious but we have to set a benchmark so that, when our minds have set a goal, they willgive a powerful effect to our actions. We will really work hard and strive for what we really want. Aim for the moon, if you fall, you will fallamongst the stars, this quote shows that we must have a strong ambition so, even though we did not manage to reach it, we are pretty close.so that's just it.you can see that i wrote UNIVERSITY OF ALEXENDRIA in my list. so, i pretty much get what i requested even though regrettedthat i forgot to add JUST which was located in Jordan which is a top-ranking university especially for medic..the reason is because I thought thatMARA did'nt send medical students to Jordan anymore because of the high living cost...huwaa..its ok...I am thankful for what I had achieveduntil this point..alhamdulillah...I will do my best!!! huarghhh!!!

EXAMPLE 10 Before I was born, my parents knew that my name is Arlina Binti Arshad, they had picked that name before my mum even pregnant. My wholefamily was hoping for a baby girl because they already raised a tomboyish daughter and three mischievous rascals which were my brothers. On19 th July 1991, I was born at Klinik Shambi, Kuala Lumpur, or my mother called it, the day where God gave them the special gift. Currently, I amliving in Subang Jaya, Selangor. The real me was portrayed when I joined Mara Junior Science College (MJSC). When I was in my old school, I used to be a quiet girl whoenjoyed reading books, invisible, unknown and only have small circle of friends. Things changed when I entered MJSC. Fortunately, theactivities in MJSC such as language week (Minggu Bahasa) unleashed the real Arlina. After trying out for auditions, I realized that I have a knack in drama, but I can also be an excellent debater. Starting from that, I joined countless activities that require my skills such as, acting, debating, writing and many more. A lot of people asked me, why I want to be a doctor instead of any other jobs that require good command in Englishlanguage since people see English language as my strength, my answer is simple, medicine is much more challenging and I love challenge, plusI get to learn about human, about meTherefore, I would really love to continue my study doing International Baccalaureate (IB) in Mara College Banting. I choose IB diploma, not Alevel or foundation because The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help tocreate a better and more peaceful world through

intercultural understanding and respect. Furthermore, IB has more subject and activities, thus itmakes this course even more challenging. Even though there are few institutions offer IB but then, Mara College Banting had produced worlds best students in IB examination. In addition, their college life style is completely different from other colleges. Mara College Banting does notonly stress on education but they strengthen our faith towards God by encourage the students pray together at surau, and other Islamic activities.Im sure there are no other colleges offer these kinds of life style. As for degree, the university that caught my attention is Queen Mary,University of London.Of course, after obtaining my degree I will pursue my career by being a hardworking and dedicated paediatric cardiac surgeon as that is my paththat I choose to help people in my own ways, especially kids. I believe by being a doctor, Ill end up with a job that will make me appreciate lifeeven more because as a doctor, definitely Ill encounter a person with no legs, cancer, or blind. Furthermore, I got to learn about our body, themiracles of science, and the perfection of Gods creation. Thus, it makes me closer to God even more. I will also get a job that more than just a job.

EXAMPLE 11

My precious life started when I first opened my eyes to see this beautiful world on 12 August 1991. My parents gave me the bestname ever that suits me until now, Muhammad Daniel Azlan Bin Mahadzir. At that time,I never know that Im the eldest but as timegoes, I have to accept the fact that Im the eldest son for my parents, and the eldest grandson for my grandparents. When I reached the age of 5, one of my aunty succeed to persue her study in pharmacy at Kings College London. From that precious moment, I said to myself that I can be like her perhaps better. My family is not very loaded, infact, we live a simple life that never lack of any necessity. My parents work as a businessmen and owned 4 shopoutlets that sell groceries and other daily needs (in other word, minimarket). They never complete their study untilgraduate, so, it is my responsibility to make them happy with my education.

I finished my primary years with flying colours; 5as in UPSR and continue my study at a boarding school in Slim River, Perak. There, I lead my own life as Slim River is an a hour journey from my home. My parents cannot visit me frequently as they have their own commitment in business. At that particular point, Id learned the hard way of independent. The value of friendship, time andfinancial management and respect are some of the attributes I gained during my study at SMK Agama Slim River. With a blink of eye, I was in my form 3 in 2006. This particular year,I sat for my PMR examination and with god will, I succeed to get 9As.With the brilliant result,I got an offer to a better school with title Sekolah Berasrama Penuh (SBP). I started my new secondary year at SBP Integrasi Gopeng. This is where the challenge begun. This school was the centre of acumulation of brilliant students acrossPerak, Penang and Kedah. I have to struggle hard enough to maintain my study momentum. Well, how high I achieve in my examination is not everything. For me, academic and personality building must goalong together. Thus, Id joined several co-curiculum activities during my schoolyears. Since I was form 1, I joinedthe debate club and have some attributes to be a debater. But only in form2, I manage to represent my school instory telling competition.since then, I represent my school for 4 consecutive years as a debater. Debate teach mehow to judge something thoroughly and looking at a situation from multiple point of view. It consequently increasemy level of confidence. Im also active in playing scrabble and during form 3 I went to an open tournament andplaced myself on the 12 th place in the national level. Next, I participated in some quizzes such as ASEAN quiz inform 3, Malaysian Tourism Quiz in form 4 and I got merit for Malaysia National Chemistry quiz during my form 5. Despite of those activities, I was so glad to be given such a telent in arabic caligraphy.the best achievements I got is during my form5 where I became the first runner-up in state level. But the best achievement ever is when I representing Malaysia to the Cyber Development Corps Meeting and Worksyop 2008. The event thought me to see environmental issue in deeper concern and dealingwith international participant which is older than me. It is a great moment to share and it teach me to be more mature in facing theglobal world of numerous cultures and values. However, I manage to preserve my momentum until the SPM trial result which I managed to score 10As and 2Bs. I try to seek anyoppurtunity to continue my study with my trial result and with god will,I managed to enter Universiti Teknologi Petronas. With thecourse Business Information System, I nearly kill my dreams and ability.i have the brain of scientist not to judge something but toinvestigate and justify the nature of something. And I really wanted to realize my dream that is to be a biotechnologist.however, pityon me, Petronas does not offer any scholarship regarding my dream course and I consequently decided to wait for my actual SPMresult to apply for MARA-PILN. The moment I got the SPM result slip, my dreams dancing with joy in my mind. . Praise to god, I scored well in mySPM with 11As and 1B. I try to search as many as possible oppurtunities to pursue my study in biotechnology.Consequently, I remember MARA.So, why do I want to take biotechnology as my course? It is simple; I love biology! I always wanted to take coursethat related to biology. There are many courses that offer biology as the core subject but I choose biotechnologybecause it is the combination between biological sciences and engineering. Biotechnology also gives me theknowledge and wisdom as a tool to make the life better.

However, like Shakespeare always said, the true blindness is when dream without work. So the first step I have to clarify the paththat I want to take in order to achieve my dream. Thousand step of journey started with the first step! I always want to take International Baccalaureate (IB) as the first step to jump higher. I had done some researches regarding IB including the studystructure which includes the 3 major portions of learning that is theory of knowledge, extended essay and creativity, action, andservices. The qualification of IB recognizes by most of the universities in the world. I went through some centers that offer IB but Ihope that I can do my IB at Taylor University College. Long-term mission for me is to score between the ranges of 35 to 45 in my IBso that I can pursue my study in biotechnology. To further my view of future, I ought to think about University of Nottingham, UK. This dream since I was six because one of my friends had their parents to study here and she bought me some pictures of the university. Since then, I aimed this university for so long until now, I hope I canretrieve my dream into reality. The university offers the study of biotechnology that consume for about 3 years of study. The campus of theuniversity that undergoes this course is Sutton Bonnington Campus, UK. I hope to be there and pursue my study there. The main reason for choosing this university primarily because of its excellent academic performances. The University of Nottingham situated at number 86 in the list of world best university. Hence, it is undeniable to choose this university as the next place to gain the power of wisdom. The country is now searching for the available potential upon developing new way of thinking and innovation. In fact, Malaysia isnow focusing in expanding the research and development sector to diverge the potential of its resource. With the emerging hope of nation, I think I want to be apart of the successor of nation dream and change Malaysia to be a better place. After finishing myundergraduate study, I hope I can serve my country well. The first thing is to diversify the current environmental issue and changeMalaysia to be a paradise of the world. Second is to serve the humankind in order to fight diseases and other threats to human life. With this kind of determination, I strongly believe that I can make Malaysia a better place to live However, without the power of wisdom, it seems like talking to the wood and stabbing the wall. So, with the opportunity that I hope will be givento me, Ill try to run through the highest potential of myself and help the country to gain it reputation in the eyes of the world. I hope, with the passionate I gained inside myself since I was 5, MARA will considerate my notion to pursue my study in biotechnology. With that, I end with full of hope.
