Listening
• READ THE INSTRUCTION!• Focus on task! Don’t think of other things!• Before listening read the notes carefully.• Try to answer during the first listening, but don’t
hurry.• During the second listening, focus only on
topics, which are required.• If it will help, underline the words you have to
listen for.
Reading
• READ THE INSTRUCTION!• Read the task!• First read the text for general understanding
(you don’t have to understand each word)!• Then focus only on the task.• By T/F/NI be careful! Do not guess – look for
the evidence. Use only the information in the text, NOT your background knowledge.
Reading
• Multiple choice – read one question at the time, then turn to the text. Make sure that the other answers are incorrect.
• The task is often rewritten – don’t try to find the same words in the text.
• Mark the keywords in the text – you are allowed to do so.

Notes and Messages
• Have to be short , but provide all the information needed.
• You can use personal pronouns, articles, auxiliaries, greetings (Dear, Yours)
• Abbreviations: a.m. / p.m. / PS – adding more information / ASAP / etc / Mon, Tues
• Make sure – easy to read and clear enough to understand.
• Long notes – divide into sections with each important point on a new line
Task (2010):
Some friends are coming to stay in your house but you have an appointment at the dentist and you cannot be there to welcome them. Leave a message telling them:
• Where to leave their things,• Where to find something to eat and drink,• Say what they can do until you get home.

picture.• Talk about season or weather (if possible).• Assume, what the people may do, think, how they
can feel. Why are they there?• Give reasons why you think so. • Say about 9-10 sentences.
Role Play
• Read carefully the INSTRUCTION!• Prefer direct questions if possible!• Take the initiative! You should start the
conversations.• If you use the direct questions the word order
is: Question word + auxiliary verb + subject + verb + object (When do the train leave?) But: Can you tell me, when the train leaves?
