EXALTED RULER
Greetings all,
We are in the final stretch with
our Queen candidate. We have had
some great fund raising events. Our
Dessert sales were wonderful. We
had so much support with the baking.
We almost had too many people
offering (but seriously, can you really
have too many desserts). The
Spaghetti dinner was fantastic. We
are still getting compliments on it.
Mexican night enjoyed the same success. The Golf
tournament was off the hook. That took a bit more to pull off
but it was worth it. We wanted to make sure that we maxed
out our entries and then put on an enjoyable tournament. Once
again we were bombarded with support. People just ask what
the next event is and they participate, work and come to
enjoy. It has been an absolute pleasure.
I am constantly humbled by the continued support of all
I participate in with our Elks. It feels good to be surrounded
with such good people. They want the Elks and our Queen
drive to be a success so they rally behind it and buy raffle
tickets and desserts and join in with whatever we do because
they want to see us succeed and feel glad inside for us when
we do. They are truly good!! A person told me once (no not
Earl this time) that you can tell the simple goodness in people
and the bad about them when you look inside them at how
they feel about others. When something good happens to
someone like if they buy a new car or get a great new job —
are others truly happy inside that the person is flourishing
enough to be able to have the shiny new car or get the great
new job (lets say a big fat raise) or are they really jealous and
covetous inside? On the same note, if something bad happens
to someone like say they wreck that new car or get fired from
their job, do they have real compassion for the unfortunate or
on the inside are they secretly happy that something bad
happened to someone? I have never forgotten it. When I
look at our Elks supporters I really feel that they are truly
good people, good friends and feel good inside that we are
successful.
Amidst of all going on with our Elks and our Queen
candidate I keep thinking about how nice it would be to have
her picture on the wall. I hear other Elks talk with pride
about the pictures on the wall and the support they gave the
candidate during her competition. Even though we are busy
raising money for our Elks as well as our Queen candidate
(remember, the first 2,500.00 of tickets sold by our candidate
Tess go direct to the Flower Festival Association and we have
already met this goal so now 65% of all funds raised come
right back to our own Elks) That is not all it takes to win.
The girls are judged by the Rose Bowl Judges who meet the
girls on the day of coronation. This first impression is
important and Tess meeting all of you in the lodge has helped
prepare her for this day. Later that night during the
Coronation, each candidate gives her speech and the judges
convene to make their decision. No matter the outcome, we
are proud of Tess and happy for her to represent our Lodge!
Sherri Giovanacci, Exalted Ruler

Salutations Lompoc Lodge,
Well here we in May and it’s going
to be a busy month, We just finished with
the ritual contest on the 1st. and I wish I
could report to you that we came in first
place but as you know I’m writing this in
April.
And then there is going to be the
convention in San Diego on the 6th and
on the same weekend there is Mothers
Day Holiday to celebrate so yes we are
going to be just a little busy.
Before going on I would like to say a special thank you the
Ladies Auxiliary I was real sorry to hear that they had no choice but
to have their last meeting, but it was understandable, with no one
joining the Ladies Auxiliary, the ladies had no other choice but to
close the doors, so Ladies thank you so much for your dedication and
the many years of work that you all have done for the lodge and for
the club, You’ll be missed.
It’s true what they say that you never know how good you have
it until you don’t have it anymore,
And while I’m on the subject of saying thank you, Has anyone
notice the work that has been done in the Parking lot behind the
Lodge,? I wish I could thank everyone who has been doing the work
but I only know of a few names John Larsen, Jim Martin, Bob
Manfrina and there’s more guys than that and I’m real sorry that I
don’t know who else has been out there so I can mention them but
I’m sure we can do something to say a big thank you, when they
declare it done. It’s real impressive guys Thank You.
And so I’m going to continue to keep my articles short, so you
can enjoy the other officers articles, and what other thing that Jerry
feels is important.
Your Leading Knight, Mario Santiago
Hello everyone,
I hope everyone is enjoying
Elkdom’s New Year. 2014 was a great
learning experience for the Officers and
each Officer has committed to fulfill the
next step.
Before I begin, I want to thank Fred
Duffey our Past Exhausted Ruler for his
hard work guiding us last year. Likewise,
of the Lecturing Knight and learn to
concentrate on being the Loyal Knight. The charge of the Loyal
Knight is an awesome charge to learn about. The motto of this
station is Justice. Learning to use wisdom, fairness and being just in
all my decisions will naturally make me a better person. I encourage
you to do the same. Use wisdom, fairness and be just in our your
decisions. We will find that our lives, our families and our Lodge
will be a benefit positively with our improvements in the area of
Justice.
By the time you read this article, I hope we as an Officer team
have made you proud. We all look forward to working with each you
to make Lompoc Lodge 2274 a place we call home and enjoy being
at.
With Brotherly Love. Your Esteemed Loyal Knight,
Kelly Montell Sedherry

The Lompoc Elks Lodge is pleased to announce the
selection of eight sophomores from Cabrillo and Lompoc
High Schools as recipients of their “Student of the Month”
honors. Lompoc High School selectees are Valerie Laufer,
Anahi Morelos, Benjamin Odon, and Niko Sapp. Cabrillo
High School honorees are Jaycee Jacobson, Ellery Wilkie,
Christopher Siefe, and Matthew Taber.
The Elks Student of the Month committee evaluated the
records of top-performing students from each high school who
were nominated by their respective faculties. Each nominee
prepared a application which listed achievements in 10 areas:
academic performance, leadership, community service,
athletics, student government, fine arts, clubs/organizations,
religious activities, part-time work, and any other are the
student considered important.
These Junior Students of the Month will be honored on
May 7th at a banquet hosted by the Elks Lodge.
Have you noticed the changes being made to the
parking lot in the back of the Lodge. These changes are
being made by the Trustees with the assistance of Lodge
Members.
However these changes could not have been made
without funds. Thank You to Dave Fort, Frank
Creager and Cheryl Hieronymus for your generous
donations.
We want to thank the membership, family and friends for
supporting Tess in her campaign for 2015 Lompoc Flower
Festival Queen. It takes $2500 to qualify as a candidate and
we were able to achieve this goal on 9 April. As Exalted
Ruler Sherri pointed out last month, that means that all funds
raised above the $2500 will be turned in as Queen Tickets for
Tess and then will come back to the Lodge at 65%. This
benefits all of us, so thank you for your continued support.
We have three events in May:
Saturday May 2 Carnitas Taco Dinner Lodge Ballroom
Thursday May 14 GUMBO Dinner Members Lounge
Sunday May 17 Horseshoe Tournament/BBQ
Campbell Ranch Hwy 246
We will continue the Wednesday Dessert Bar until June 10.
The drawing for the cord of wood will be Wednesday
June 3 during Family Night.
Coronation is June 20 in the Elks Ballroom.
Thanks also to the army of volunteers who have created
our spectacular dinners, donated baked goods, sold tickets,
supported the golf tournament and many many many more
tasks that have been instrumental in supporting Tess and our
fundraisers. Your support truly proves that ELKS CARE
ELKS SHARE!! Thanks again for your support of Tess and
our fund raisers.
Benevolently,

I would like to once again thank the Happy Wanderers
Camping Club for their large donation to our Lodge’s
Veterans Fund. I know I have said this before but I will say
it again, without all the wonderful donations I get from the
members this program most likely would have ceased to exist,
so a big thank you to all of you.
Remember every third Friday we bring the Veterans from
the Convalescent Care Center to the Lodge for a Fish & Chips
Luncheon. I feel sure that if you help once, you will want to
help again. This months push is on the 15th of May.
I am still collecting aluminum cans and plastic bottles,
and I can Laminate your Elks Card and things up to 8X10
inches. Still just a dollar to our Veteran’s Fund.
I will leave you again with an old Chinese Proverb “A
smile will gain you ten more years of Life”.
See you at the Lodge.

The Aid to Local Handicap Committee wishes to inform our
members that our 27th annual Happy Happening will be held June 6,
2015 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the LODGE. This will be the first
time that we will host the party at the Lodge due to our unsuccessful
effort to stock the River Park lake with fish.
We dedicate this years party to James “Boomer” Braithwaite
PER. This dedicated effort is responsible for the continuing success
of this great program.
The party will consist of a BBQ (hamburgers, hot dogs),
petting zoo, face painting, balloon twisting, dancing and games.
Registration will be available at various special needs facilities and
our Lodge front office. We request that the registration forms be
returned to the Lodge no later than June 3rd.
To be a success, and as members, please lend a helping hand -
