1.2 Effectivity/Compatibility Avidyne MFDs with part number 700-00007-001, -002,-003, 004, -005, -006 with software media numbers 053-00163-004 or 053-00163-004 with software part number 530-000163-000.

NOTE: Cmax requires a Jeppesen subscription to function

1.3 Concurrent Requirements This service bulletin may be accomplished only on MFDs that have been updated by service bulletin 601-00007-026 incorporating software media part numbers 053-00163-004 or 053-00163-005 with software part number 530-00163-000.

1.4 Reason This utility will enable the CMax optional feature on Avidyne multifunction displays .

1.5 Description This service bulletin describes the activation of the CMax optional feature using a one time activation zip disk.

1.7 Approval The engineering data underlying the accomplishment instructions contained in Section 3 are FAA approved. No other portion of this service bulletin is FAA approved.

1.8 Time Required One person can accomplish this service bulletin in 15 minutes.

1.11 Software Accomplishment This utility activates deactivated software which has been developed with a DO-178 level D compliant process

2. Material Cost and Availability The CMax Single Use Activation Utility and this service bulletin are available as part number 850-00013-322 from Avidyne Corp.

3. Accomplishment Instructions

3.1 Required Materials

1. _____ CMax part number Single Use Activation disk with part number 054-00001-000 Rev 0 with software part number 570-00022-000 Rev 0. 2. ______ Avidyne Data Loader part number 200-00029-000, Avidyne Data Loader part number 200-00048-000 or self-powered USB connected Zip Drive

3.2 Accomplishment Procedure

1. _____ Apply power to the MFD and wait for the FlightMAX logo screen with the black background to appear or 10 seconds to elapse (whichever comes first) and then insert the disk part number 054-00001-000 Rev 0 CMax Single Use Activation disk inserted in the zip drive..

2. _____ Verify that after initialization, the following screen is displayed. If this screen is not

displayed, re-check your connections and power cycle the EX500.

(Figure to be updated) 3. _____ Use the select knob to a change a character or digit. Use the previous and next buttons

to move between character positions. If the MFD serial number field contains FlightMax or no serial number, you will be prompted to enter a new serial number. The serial number printed on the unit may be from 4 to 8 characters and may start with a letter or a number. If the serial number is less than 8 characters, add leading zeros to make it 8 characters long. For example,

Using the right knob and previous and next buttons, enter the serial number. 4. _____ Once you have entered the serial number or if the MFD already has a valid serial

number, press the proceed button to continue with the activation.

5. _____ The MFD will now restart in maintenance mode.

6. _____ Select the Aircraft Setup button. 7. _____ Change Brightest dimming voltage from 24 volts to 23 volts. 8. _____ Save settings, disconnect Data Loader and restart MFD.

4. Checkout

1. _____ When the MFD restarts and displays the initial screen with the message Press any bezel key to continue, you should also see a message saying Charts Jeppesen Sanderson, Inc: EXPRIRED Load new data for access.

2. _____ After pressing any bezel key at the initial screen, the map page will be displayed. Verify that Map Chart Trip Nrst Setup are the options displayed in the lower left corner of the screen. If you select the Chart page, you will see the message Charts Not Loaded until a chart subscription is loaded.
