Bordeaux Mixture Formula. There are a number of formulas for

Bordeaux mixture, but the standard formula now recommended by the majority of experiment stations for use against most funguous . diseases Is four pounds of copper sulphate, tour pounds of lime and fltty gallons of water. This does not mean that It Is absolutely necessary to make up the ml:J:ture In 50-gallon amounts. It we need only 60 gallons of the mixture then we would use four pounds each of the sulphate and lime and 6'0 gallons of water. It'-' we need only 26 gallons of the mixture we would use two pounds ~ach of the aulphate and ll.nae and 26 pllons of water.

Undlaturbed Become• Tame.

(By DR. W. D. BELt,.) They most certainly should not be

killed out. On the other hand they will repay bountifully all effort ex· pended In protecting them and favorIng their Increase. The farmer should never allow more to be shot for game than the surplus stock, being sure to leave plenty of birds for the next year's nesting. The live birds on the farm are worth much more than the dead birds on the table however well they may be cooked.

THE OR.IP

. February, March and April are the backache months, because they are months of colds, chills,

grip and pneumonia, with their congesting, weakening influence on the kidneys. Colds, chills, or grip strain the kidneys and start backache, urinary disorders and uric acid troubles. You feel lame, weak and tired and have headache, dizzy feelings, achy muscles and joints; too frequent, painful urinary passages, sediment, etc. Chills hurt the kidneys. Likewise well kidneys often prevent taking cold, by helping to pass off the waste matters of cold congestion. Doan's Kidney Pills are very useful in the raw winter and spring months. They stop backache and urinary disorders, keep the kidneys weJI and prevent colds from settling on the kidneys. Strong testimony proves it. What better evidence could you ask?

CONVINCING PROOF FROM GRATEFUL USERS IN HOSPITAL FOR NINE MONTHS. THE SHADOW OF DEATH.

Awful Tale of Suffering From Kidney Trouble. A Washington Woman's Remarkable Recovery. Alfred J. O'Brien, No. 2nd St., Sterling Colo., says: ''I

was In the Baltimore Marine Hospital for nine months. I was emaciated from fever, had a persistent ache in my back and was completely worn out. The urine was In a terrible state, and some days I would pass half a. gallon of blood. I left lhe hospital because they wanted to operate on me. I then went to St. Joseph's Hospital In Omaha and put In three months there without any gain. I was pretty well discouraged when I was advised to use Doan's Kidney- Pills, but by the time I had used one box the pain In the back left me. I kept right on, and a perfect

cure was the result. You may put anyone ln communlca.Uon with me and I wlll give them proof that this statement Is correct."

Mrs. Enos Shearer, Yew St., Centralia, Wash., with one kldne)11111gone, the other badly diseased, and five doctors In con

sultation, was thought to be In a hopeless state. "My limbs 'were so swollen," said Mrs. Shearer, "that I could hardly get about. I rapidly grew worse untll the doctor said one kidney was entirely gone and the other badly decayed. The end seemed near, and my friends gave me up to die. On my brother's advice I began using Doan's Kidney Pills and after the fourth day I was able to be propped up in bed. Through their use I rapidly improved until at the present

time I am active and well, although 65 years old; I can do fully as much work as any woman in Centralia, and enjoy good health."

$1,5,000 Bond Approved. "I shall approve the bond."

Such were the word a of the judge at the conclusion of the testimony in the bond hearing Monday afternoan. The result was to the people of Liocolu as great a sur· prise as it wu a dis-appointment to the people of Carrizozo. So much of a surprise was it to the people of Lincoln that they bad come prepared to file a new bond should the judge fail to approve the one under coasideration. There is no use to deny the fact that gloom p~rvaded the hearts of the pt-ople who fondly hoped for a different result. Their cup is. full to the brim; yea, verily, it runneth over.

'fhe approul by the court of the $15,000 indemnity bond stops work on the c~unty buildings until such time as the courts of final . resott pass Up()n the. ques .. tions at issue. When that will be no one can tell, and if tlae ebd is as far from us as the beginning p few oeed care. In tbe me•ntime Lincoln retains the records, Cat• rizzo gets the court and an armis• tice has been declared.

PECULIAR AFTER EFFECTS '

OF GRIP THIS YEAR. f

Leaves Kldneyal·n Weakened Condition

Doctors In all parts of the country have been kept busy with the epidemic of grip which has visited so many bomel!l. The symptoms of grip this year are very distressing and leave the system in a run down condition, partlcu· larly the kidneys which seem to suffer most, as every victim complains ot lame back and urinary troubles which should not be neglected, as these dan• ger signals often lead to more serious sickness, such as dreaded Bright's Dis· ease. Local druggists report a large· sale on Dr. Kilmer's Swamp-Root which so many people say soon heals and strengthens the kidneys after an at~ck of grip. Swamp-Root is a great kidney, liver and bladder remedy, and, being an herbal compound, bas a gen· tle healing etfect on the kidneys, which fs almost immediately noticed by those who try ·lt. Dr. Kllmer & Co., Binghamton, N. Y., otfer to send a sample

-------DISFIGURED WITH ECZEMA

"Our little boy Gilbert was troubled with eczema when but a few weeks old. His little face was covered wltb sores even to back of hls ears. The poor little fellow sutrered very much. The sores began as pimples, his llt· tle face was disfigured very much.

"We hardly knew what he looked like. The face looked like raw meat. We tied little bags of cloth over his bands to prevent him from scratching.

No other part of the body except the waist sutrers so much abuse and distor• tlon as the feet. They are susceptibht to all sorts of deformities and the subject of all sorts of neglect.

Many people do not bathe them . auf· ftciently often, do not change their stockings With sumcient frequency and do not care for thflm in other wa:y9 A8 they should.

The soldier who tarea for bts feet Ia tbe one who holds out on the march, and many torelgn armies have doctoriJ who see that the men care tor tJ!.elr feet. The dead skin which hardens and produces calloua spots needs to be re· moved twice a day lf the feet persplro freely. ·

To rub the feet with alcohol refreshes them wonderfully, and nothing Is as tood for them as a vigorous alcohol r·ub after they have been wet or chflled, •

A rub with cocoa butter Is a ftne thing for the feet at all times. ~et a cake of this and give them a fiveminute rub at least once a week after the dally bath and you wlll aave :yourself many a groan.

We should wear rubbets whenever we need them and take them otr as soon as we can. The teet must be kept warm and dry. .

A famous physician Is reported as saying that his Income would dwindle to a half If women kept their feet warm. And It may be added that a woman's chance or being a comfortable soul and ,a jolly person to have around would b~ Improved by three halves If she would wear the right kind of shoes, care for them and her feet prop. erly and try to have everybody else do the aame.-New York Mall.
