EWMA GRANTS FOR INNOVATIVE DFU PROJECTS SUPPORTED BY URGO MEDICAL

Application form for Early Career Professionals

EWMA and Urgo Medical are partnering this year to support two grants available to healthcare professionals working in diabetic foot care worldwide. The goal of this initiative is to offer support to innovative projects to improve diabetic foot ulcer prevention and management.

Proposed projects should be focused on innovation in DFU prevention and management. Think out of the box! Projects may be submitted by any researchers, healthcare professional working in the field: specialists, caregivers, multidisciplinary teams, etc.

This call for innovative DFU projects is being organized worldwide. A grant of €10,000 will be awardedto an early career professional (track record of 2–6 years of research/professional experience.

WHO CAN APPLY?• To be eligible for the grant, the applicant must be working at educational or health care institution• Early career professionals are expected to have a track record of 2–6 years of research/professional

experience

THE PRINCIPLES GOVERNING THIS AWARD INCLUDE:• It should align with the aims of objectives of the EWMA• The application should have a clear innovative nature• Early career professionals are encouraged to lead the application• Applicants should demonstrate clear evidence of potential impact

REVIEW PROCESS:• All applications will be assessed by EWMA’s established expert committee and, occasionally, international

peer experts. The committee will consist of experts with appropriate qualifications to review the quality, feasibility and novelty of the applications

• EWMA ensures the impartiality of committee members when assessing a particular application• Awards will not be made for an amount greater than requested• The purchase of any equipment must be in line with the best-practice guidelines of the host institution• The decision of the expert committee is final• Every applicant will receive an answer to his or her application by email• Grant recipients will be recognized at EWMA Conference 2021 and via EWMA’s online platforms

PROJECT EVALUATION CRITERIA:Retained candidates will be selected according to the following criteria:• Originality and innovative nature of the project • Quality of proposal with clear aims and objectives • Impact is clear and relevant• Feasibility to complete within one year • Reasoned budget with adequate detail
